Columbina could be connected to the seelies as well, there's a theory that's she appears in 'A Drunkard's Tale' singing the song of the seelies. If she is a descendant of the seelies it would make sense why she's so powerful.

I think Sandrone indeed is that little lady, cuz in this PV every harbinger has that white furry coat on them and I think that's their "SPECIAL UNIFORM", which customizes everyone no matter how tall (Pierrot) or short ( Puccinella) they are. But that big robot has no uniform and gets those runes on his arms just like the ruin gard, so I think he's just a puppet.

Another interesting note about Pierro playing with the chessboard is that he’s using his hands to move the pieces but in the previous shot, we see that the white knight piece moved by itself to take out the black pawn. Since it was covered in a faint frost, it could be that the person playing with Pierro to be the cryo archon. This would also explain her presence in other parts of the video with the freezing tapestry and Signora’s tomb freezing over so fast

Dainsleif: "Always be on your guard when around gods. You shouldn't place too much trust in them. But at the same time, don't go too far in the opposite direction... Don't go trying to overthrow them, or hunt them down. Even if the god in question is your sworn enemy." He seems to be referring to Pierro and the Abyss.

Weird that characters from Khaenri’ah tend to conceal the right side of their face. Pierro’s mask kinda looks like a more extravagant version of Dainsleif’s, which could potentially be indicative of their relative strengths, or their rank in Khaenri’ah before the cataclysm.

Fun fact : The trailer is called " A Winter Night's Lazzo,” and lazzi are basically stock skits in the commedia. One of the lazzo involves a character being mistaken for dead. There's a lot of them most notably the revival and undead lazzos. Basically the point is there’s still a slight chance for Signora depending on what MHY decides to do from here, guess we’ll have to see!

There’s an ex-opera singer who did a video about the Fatui Harbingers called MarcoMeatball (I swear, he’s actually pretty insightful, despite having not played the game much) and he goes a little in-depth into the Commedia Dell’Arte that might shed some more light on these characters. Might be interesting to watch, if you have the time.

There is a trait that Childe does share with his Commedia counterpart, at least metaphorically. Tartaglia is also frequently depicted as being short sighted, on top of his stutter. Which while Childe doesn't need glasses, he has shown himself to only think a few moves ahead. His attacking us for stealing the Gnosis which he later realises we couldn't have (with his death or Glory mode, no less), and more famously, his plan to summon Osial to bait out Morax so he could beat him up and take his gnosis. There is no way that fight goes Childe's way, even ignoring back to back uses of foul legacy.

Little thought about Kaeya/Pierro: what if it's not the eyepatch that was "handed down genetically", but the need to wear an eyepatch? As far as I know we've never seen what's under it. Great video as usual, thanks!

I have a personal theory that the Commedia tropes don't represent the Harbingers as the people they currently are, but rather represent who they used to be pre-Harbinger. EG: Tartaglia isnt a stuttering incompetent, but her certainly may have been before his stint in the Abyss and tutelage under Skirk. Regrator WAS a stingy Mora obsessed miser when he was still a poor peasant, but now that he's wealthy and powerful he's bitter and cynical of the entire system to begin with. Capitano isnt "all talk cocky" like the trope currently, he's the real deal, but he may very well HAVE been a cocky military officer who found himself completely inadequate in the face of a REAL brutal, bloody catastrophe (Khanri'ah?). Dottore WAS merely a naiive but earnest scientist at first, but his pursuit of heretical research eventually turned him into the Harbinger of today. etc etc. No idea if this will pan out and I've not explored it in detail, it just seemed to fit for their tropes and made more sense Chronologically - their title was given to them as a representation of who they WERE, rather than who they're trying to be. Edit: Also "The game does not end with Checkmate" to me reads more as "This is not a war where as soon as we take down the enemy leader they surrender, this is a war of annihilation that will keep going until either all of us or every last enemy is dead and gone".

*Updates since this video has been released:* - Dottore is now confirmed to be No. 2 of the Fatui Harbingers - Katheryne is now confirmed to be "a bionic Snezhnayan puppet" according to Nahida, further supporting the theory that Sandrone and her are connected - I don't believe we saw Dottore's full design at this time, but he has a plague doctor mask on his back. So I believe that basically confirms his constellation is the Plague Doctor - Sandrone is now confirmed to be No. 7 of the Fatui Harbingers in one of the Wanderer’s voicelines - Pantalone and Dottore are now confirmed to have a close connection. - Pantalone is now confirmed to be No. 9 of the Fatui Harbingers. - Scaramouche/Wanderer is no longer a part of the Fatui as of the 3.3 archon quest, "Inversion of Genesis." None know of his existence and have assumed that the sixth seat has been empty for years. - Rumors have been circulating that Pierro is not considered a harbinger, and that there is one more hidden harbinger. This is not confirmed, but it’s a very popular theory. - Since Baizhu will now be playable, the theory of Pantalone and Baizhu’s connection has been weakened (I’m not saying it’s impossible, just less possible) - Arlecchino is now confirmed to be #4 of the Fatui Harbingers - Capitano will be showing up in Natlan and apparently has a large presence there.

Unless I'm forgetting a line in another quest (probable), Diluc's voice line for Kaeya is "You can only trust half of what he says... at best." I've always taken that to mean essentially what you're saying: He says a lot, and only half of it is important. He's not really telling straight-up lies, but it is masterful obfuscation. I see him more as that person that tells seemingly inane stories, and likes to see if people catch what he's actually telling them.

Capitano being number 2 kinda makes sense. Him being the "Captain" probably makes him the highest ranking military official in Snezhnaya. Which would most likely make him in charge of all the non-harbinger Fatui enemies that we fight.

Also maybe the harbingers are letting Scaramouche take the gnosis, because he may be the only one who can activated. The reason I’m saying this is because Venti’s and Zhongli’s gnosis where taken away directly from them, whereas Ei might’ve deactivated hers before giving it to Yae. Thus there’s the need of someone, with partial god authority, to activate it.

I’m literally on my knees begging for Pierro to be playable. He looks so tired and broken and I love him.

About Pantalone: One of Childe's line mentioned the possibility of meeting his Segment. This raised the possibility of Dottore cloning his fellow Harbingers (with or without their knowledge or consent). Baizhu could be one of Pantalone's Segment, used in Liyue exclusively, forgoing Pantalone (Prime) needs to ever step foot out of the igloo (as Arlecino so put it). About Capitano: Captain Snezhnaya reminds me so much of the Witch-king of Angmar (LOTR), who was a human king twisted into serving a dark lord. This could be a parallel to your idea that a yaksha was corrupted by the karma, got killed by his fellow but did not die.

Childe says that Sandrone mostly stays to herself and builds robots, so I'm pretty sure the girl is the harbinger. I think the ruin machine is like a butler or something.

The Fatuus sent to the Chasm were apparently there to fight against the Abyss and Katarina's quest hints that the people of Teyvat would one day join them in a final fight.

as a student the first thing i saw in pantalone's constellation was the invisible hand theory from Adam Smith . It's an economics theory ( very dumbed down explanation ) that social or greater good comes out of accumulated self interest. interesting to think abt !

so a few things about signora. the coffin is empty, in a few cultures they have empty coffins. and while I personally do not care whatsoever if shes playable, khaenri'ah is a playable region, at least according the travail trailer. the problem is it's destroyed. so my personal theory is we meet istaroth, and travel back in time to khaenri'ah to have the storyline happen there. then, we could meet and play dead characters, such as Rosalyne.

What if Arlecchino is from the "slums" of fontaine? She has a bit of disdain for the banker and the aristocracy. I wonder if she was an orphan going hungry in the slums until someone saved her and let her feel the "love" of the tsaritsa. Probably why she runs an orphanage as well. She went through that and doesn't want other "kids" to experience the pain.

Her coffin looks like it might be a cenotaph, a type of monument for the fallen often used in place of a grave, which would make perfect sense if there is no body to bury.

I find it kind of interesting how The Harbingers (more specifically Capitano, Arlecchino, Childe) seem like opposites of their Commedia Dell’Arte counterparts. Il Capitano was boastful and a bragger while The Captain seems more collected and focused on the task at hand (he was the only one during the funeral to question about Scaramouche). Arlecchino was usually a man and a comic relief character. In Genshin, Arlecchino is a woman and way more serious and brooding. Tartaglia was a old man, while Childe is the youngest Harbinger. Another good one! For Capitano, what are the chances he's the hero survivor of Sal Vindagnyr and joined the Fatui to get back at Celestia? Love can make people go bonkers in the world of Hoyoverse. Being the hero would make sense of his honest approach while turning a blind eye to the questionable actions of his comrades because this will aid his revenge. I can't think of him as a Yaksha since most of them live to fight due to the contract with Rex Lapis. Honor isn't their primary reason to fight, unlike the Sal Vindagnyr hero.

A small thing about the chess board: The Tsaritsa's own gnosis is not there at all. I'd say that means that it's indeed only one game of several.

In my country, there's a saying that when the palm of your hand itches it means you'll become rich, because the itching of the palm symbolizes money being placed into your hand. So I also believe that Pantallone is the Hand Constellation. Also Arleccino is so similar to how I imagined the Hydro Archon would be like. Princely, Dignified, and a symbol of Justice which is kinda funny.

Either way as long as Kaeya and Diluc gets more screentime I'm happy cause they're literally the most connected in the main plot (Lisa and Amber goes as far as Sumeru and Jean's connection only goes as far as the others goes which isn't very far as long as she's acting grand master)

Have you watched Marco Meatballs Fatui and comedia dell’arte explanation? It’s very insightful as his Italian opera background and knowledge of performing arts really gives a deeper perspective.

i have a pet theory about the peacock, because in zoroastrianism the peacock is a symbol of angra mainyu, all of the worlds evil, but the thing is its the one thing he made that wasnt evil. to me this shows an idea of the father of kaeya wanted "evil" but kaeya does not. i also think our dear knave may turn to our side for her benefit or ideological reasons. i also wonder that if pierro is playing for the tsaritsa, who is the player for celestia, who could be the one commanding the demons gods given names from the ars goetia.

The thing that's bugging me the most is the colour of the gems on their coats. Maybe it's just a character design decision, but I feel they have some deeper meaning. I thought it could possibly tied to rank: 1 - 5 = white, 6 - 7 = Orange, 8 - 9 = purple and 10 - 11 = red. But Capitano's being black(?) is throwing me off. It could also be tied to skillset/job within the harbingers perhaps? The other thing that I've noticed is that every country seems to have a harbinger who is tied to that country in some way: Mondstadt: Signora, Inazuma: Scaramouche, Sumeru: Dottore, Liyue: Pantalone(?), Fotaine: Sandrone(?) and Khaenriah: Pierro. All except for Natlan. Maybe Capitano is tied to Natlan in some way? But that theory is just process of elimination at this point.

I wonder if Sandrone has something to do with the Maguu Kenki. Because he seems to be controlled by Strings like a marionette. Or if its just a random detail or someone else controlling him. Idk. Just a thought I wanted to talk out. Anyways. Arlecchino best girl-

I love that the comedia characters are opposite of the harbinger.. their personalities, tropes and motivation are very opposite. And yes i agree that Pierro is kaeya grandfather.. the whole pirate shenanigans story is a lie but i think him telling the traveler that he has a grandfather is true.

I think it’s interesting how all the archons so far have allowed the fatui to create chaos in their own nations, despite knowing fully that the tsarista has long been rogue. It seems like the cataclysm has made all the archons disillusioned with Celestia in some way.

After watching the trailer my thought was "What if Pierro is Kaeya's grandpa?" I searched reddit but couldn't find anything.Glad to know that you are also considering the possibility.

Also a note that both Kaeya and Pierro cover their right eye. Could they be covering some significant mark that could let others recognize them for who they truly are, like, maybe they have a glowing eyes that were a sign of royal blood, or a birthmark that only passed down specific lineage that did something significant, so one covers his eye to not alert his comrades and the other covers his so he won't be tied in with enemy leader. Them both having the same thing to hide would also tie nicely with what Kaeya said about inheriting the eyepatch - "same as children inheriting their parents hair or eye color" aka a genetic trait. While eyepatch itself is just a cover, what underneath that cover is a genetic trait he - through his father - inherited from his granddad. Genetics is a weird thing and sometimes it happens that a certain gene gets to "jump the line" so to speak and only shows itself in the next generation, like, a birthmark that a kid shares with his grandfather but not his father (I actually have that myself, both my parents have bright eyes, but I have dark brown, almost black ones - just like my granddad from father's side). So that would check out.

I think the whole marrying into royalty thing makes sense especially when considering the eye colour of all 4 known kaenri’hans. Kaeya is the only one with a darker blue eye colour which we know is a signifier for familial relationship from barb+jean. It could be possible that only the royals had a darker eye colour and kaeya inherited it from his royal mother as opposed to father. Blue also has connections with the phrase blue-blood referring to royalty so it seems plausible enough.

I hope this is the first of many responses against leaks. If Hoyo didn't leave us so thirsty for content, we probably wouldn't be so inclined to look for leaks. This trailer was the best drip marketing that they've put out and it shook the entire comunity to the core. And I'm living for it.

Great video as usual, although I have a few comments about Scaramouche's section: 1. I got the complete opposite vibe from Capitano's interaction with Dottore regarding Scara, to me it really did seem like Capitano was going "hey man what the hell are we doing here, you've got a plan right?", and Dottore is indeed a man with a plan so he basically just cryptically responds with essentially "yeah we're good man don't worry I've got this". 2. Following up directly from the previous point, Scaramouche going off the radar with the Gnosis was absolutely not part of the plan, him getting it definitely was, Signora was probably supposed to have a similar negotiation with Raiden as she did with Zhongli. She definitely wasn't supposed to die, and Scara wasn't supposed to ditch the team. If Scara doing what he did truly was all part of the plan, we'd really be dealing with some hard-core "all according to keikaku" vibes that I'd have a pretty hard time suspending my disbelief for. But I do 100% agree his interaction with the Gnosis in general was probably the whole point/plan, so they're kind of on-track with that, but that brings me to my next point. 3. If the endgame for the Fatui in Inazuma was always "get Scara and the Gnosis together so we can study them", then why does Scara even ditch them in the first place? Is it just because he thinks they're all losers, or was there a catch to it that he was already aware of, or could it have been some completely separate reason/influence? Discussion on this would be interesting. 4. Discussion on what exactly we think the "Divine Gaze" is would be been super interesting. Because we've heard that exact phrase before from Yae Miko in the Inazuma Archon Quest, where Raiden replies to it with "You mean Visions?". So does the Divine Gaze have something to do with the giving, or lack thereof, of Electro Visions? Because that plot point was never addressed properly, only referenced vaguely in Raiden's voicelines. Additionally, could this play a role with the Kazuha Electro Vision plotpoint, especially given all the connections between Scara and Kazuha? Food for thought.

Here comes Il Dottore being the 2nd fatui harbinger now..

Now, I know people are saying that this trailer shows La Signora’s funeral (and it definitely is) and that she’ll never be playable as a result, because she dead. I however have an argument for why she could return as a character. Don’t worry, I am not smoking copium, I definitely think it’d be cool if Signora stayed dead and that her character would echo in ways that involve her past actions. However, she still could theoretically come back. Signora is the 8th of the Fatui Harbingers. In Biblical Numerology, the number 8 stands for “new life” and “resurrection” as all of us who watch Ashikai should know by now. The implication here comes from two different things, the first being that Rosalyne was a completely different person who changed when she became a Harbinger. She used to be very kind, but turned cold and hateful after her lover died during the Cataclysm. The theme of “resurrection” also references how, in her boss battle, she encases herself in a “cocoon” of ice before emerging as a moth in her second phase. Now, what do we see in the teaser? We see the coffin, representative of Signora, being incased in ice as the whole cathedral freezes over, foreshadowed by the curtains freezing at their ends in an earlier scene. This is most definitely not Zapolyarny Palace as I think most other people assume. Instead, it is likely either an important cathedral or a cathedral built specifically for Signora’s funeral, which goes to show just how much importance the Harbingers treat Signora’s death, well, the Harbingers besides Pulcinella, Dotorre, and maybe Pantalone. They freeze over an entire cathedral just for the ceremony. But did you notice that? They freeze over the cathedral. Freeze over, incased in ice, as if it were a cocoon… I predict that we might see this frozen-over cathedral in-game whenever we get access to Snezhnaya, and that during the events of the story, Signora will return. It’ll make sense for her to return at this point in the story too since out of all the Fatui Harbingers, Signora is the one who is most heavily tied to the Cataclysm in terms of the lore and her character’s backstory. It’d thematically make sense for her to come back near the part of the story where Khanrei’ah and Celestia are going to be taking the most prominent roles. Another reason why her return at that point would thematically make sense is because Signora is the very first Harbinger we meet in the game. For her to reappear as one of the more important ones plot-wise near the end would make a lot of sense. It’d be the ultimate fulfillment of what Signora’s character is. Resurrection, and vengeance. Whether or not she’d be our ally at that time, hard to say, but if that’s how HOYOVERSE plans to use her character, I’m all for it.

Imagine if Columbina ends up showing interest in Traveller and stalk him/her. Childe would wonder why Traveller ends up involved with her. Considering that she's presumably the dove, I don't see it not impossible.

"The Harbinger of Dawn" a very specific named weapon received from kaeya's quest "Inherited an eye-patch from his grandfather" [So he REMEMBERS his Grandfather perfectly AND the Catastrophe of Khaenri"ah.] Kaeya not knowing what the fatui is up too is probably part of the Strategy....To survive he has to blend in, to blend in what better way but being oblivious to the actions of your organization. Blend in, become their friend, care for them and do right by them....but never forget. YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THEM." Somewhere Deep inside Kaeya Still probably Despises the gods, but as to not incur their wrath he adopted the personality he has. Mona: "He believes he made a clean break from his past, but one day fate will catch up to him. When it does he has a major decision to make" THE HARBINGER OF DAWN Kaeya has to choose between staying oblivious to his past Or to slay the heavens and bring about the Dawn of a New world." Well I Connected it all.

The more time passes from the first time I saw the Trailer, the more I believe that Sandrone = petite lady is actually a red herring and the REAL Sandrone is the Ruin Guard 'butler'. The Katherynes could easily be mass-produced robots based on the small petite lady who resembles them, while the 'Ruin Guard' could be a sentient machine from Khaenri'ah (think of Johnny No.5 from the Short Circuit movies) who is effectively trying to build himself a family (Sandrone, as you said, is a male character with a wife and a kid). Also, the whole pose of the duo screams 'Ventriloquist with his Puppet' to me... Of course it could simply be that she is a mechanic from Fontaine who started tinkering with Ruin Guards and Khaenri'an Puppets but it seems so... plain and basic to me (a thing than HoYo rarely does).

the "Dottore suggested to create a god" thing is suddenly so relevant now that 3.2 update got out lmaoo

a little thought: what if Pierro didn't only or necessarily meant the sages of Sumeru, but the sages of Kaenri'ah too? Considering sages r often associated with not only magic but also faith, the abyss faith (lectors, higher ranking monsters) might be said sages that also think they know a deeper truth and hunt for proof (like enjou and "before sun and moon")... thx for the great vid

From a quick look on Google, it looks like Pierro was a French addition to the Commedia dell’arte. Although we already have a France-inspired nation, it fits with Pierro’s whole Khaenri’ah thing, since everyone else is from Tevyat, he’s the only outlier

Pierro's old world is also described in shivada jade gem's description. Basically the tsaritsa ( assuming the one talking in the description ) is asking us to burn the old world together with her. Could it be the current Teyvat, or Celestia?

When I saw Pulcinella I instantly thought about Klee... And the fact he has Hilichurl-style imagery on his hat kinda ties him to Khaenri'ah. What if, Alice saying they belong to an ancient race, these elfs were like... idk house elfs to the Khaenriahns lol. I know it sounds really bad but him being someone who likes to take care of people? Like Childe? Maybe it's what his ancestors used to do back in the day.

To add to Sandrone and Katherine theory, her corsetry center piece looks like the quote on quote "herrscher of domination" symbol, which combined to the marionette theme and the hive-mind the Katherines share is pretty likely that she created them and use them as the primary source of surveillance

Want to point out that the cryo gnosis isn’t on the chess board with Pierro. That implies that the Tsaritsa is still hanging onto her gnosis, and that it may be the last one to be placed on the board, once she’s collected the 6 others.

Your dramatic presentation of a Dendro slime being set on fire for them to getbout of the ground but with a big tree and a god was so awesome that it actually gave me goosebumps

Something that is interesting when it come to Baizhou and Qiqi, is that Qiqi can never seem to remember Baizhous face. Qiqi is forgetful yes, but she will remember people if she train on remembering it or if someone make a big impression enough on her...Like she dont forget Hu Tao, or what Hu Tao wanted to do to her. But no matter what, she still have issues with Baizhou. Another thing is that sometimes, Qiqis commands (she need to command herself to do stuff because she is a Jiangshi) cause her to keep at something even though she cant do it, and the only way to stop her is to hug her and tell her that she is loved, Baizhou can accomplish this but Qiqi say that she feel there is not much sincerity in this. I originally thought it was just because he is a greedy bastard, but there may be something more to this.. But if Baizhou and Changsheng is based on the white snake tale... then maybe Pantalone is based on Fahai, a character from the same tale... Fahai was the antagonist, a tortoise who turned himself into a human just like the white snake did. In genshin its possible that Baizhou and Pantalone are twins, that would explain how they are so similiar, both in looks and in greed, yet still being unaware of eachothers actions. Uh no I dont think we can say that Pierrot have the same skin tone as Kaeya, as all the shots are in a setting with blue light in it, making all skintones distorted. I decided to color pick his skin tone and the other harbingers at the last scene to get an idea of how their skin tones compare. Guess what? He had almost the same color as Childe and Pantalone. Only the girls and Pucinella were lighter. And we already know that Childe is much lighter than Kaeya. And we kinda have confirmation that Kaeyas skin color is just a tan, because he like being out in the sun a lot...Which would be understandable if he came from an underground civilization where rarely saw the sun.

I don’t know back story or lore of the name but I really get Akatsuki vibe from fatui. Look at those coat! The whole funeral look like Akatsuki meeting and their goal to collect all genosis parallel with collecting tail beasts. I really like this vibe and hope to see more from Fatuis in future.

I had a similar thought in the folly in Sumeru coming from the Fatui. And looking at the chess board, of the electro gnosis is a knight, it's possible the Dendro gnosis is as well, and if all the pieces in the board represent current players, then the holder of the Dendro gnosis is also on the side of the Fatui, which would be really interesting. This is also influenced by the rooks, of which one is Zhongli's, which we assume was the white side, and the remaining is black, which is possibly the Cryo gnosis. Since the Czaritsa is definitely on the Fatui side, that makes sense to be her. So, it's possible the Fatui are the folly in Sumeru, and that's why the archon makes no move to stop it.

I just wanted to point out something, about dameselette, since you said that it didn’t mean anything but from a native French speaker perspective to me it sounds like they meant "frail lady" (dame=lady In French) but also because often in French we add the sound ette or oute at the end of a word to emphasize it being something cute, fragile or in this case frail. You can compare it to y or ie in English, it works the same way as for words like "thingy or cutie". I asked my friend who studies in linguistic about this and she said that she understood it that way too. She’s described it as a "possible non recognized word" which is not in the dictionary but still respect the rules of our language and therefore is comprehensible by its speaker and carries meaning regardless. I don’t know if this will help but I thought it was an interesting way to understand her name.

The thing about Snezhnaya having a similar style to the unified civ is really really interesting. Like what if it's actually like Khaenri'ah, The Chasm and Enkanomiya, and how does the Tsaritsa connect to that

There has been a thory I've seen going around of the Dendro archon being a "Shut-in"(I forget the japanese word). With this information I see it being possible not because of trauma or anything like the original theory says but because of fear? What if the Fatui's "push for folly" and Dotorre's "Experiment in Blasphemy" are attempte to lure her out and just steal the gnosis? It is already quite implied that the dendro archon is very weak and inexperienced. Seeing as how Signora basically strolled up and snatched away Venti's gnosis, It is not implausible that they may intend to use the same strategy. The dendro archon is also the God of Wisdom. Perhaps she, more than others, understands what the Fatui plan means and also understands her own weakness and thus, out of that fear/consideration choses to hide herself away. She could also have disguised herself as a commoner like Venti or Zhongli. This works since gods do not have any detectable "auras"(as far as we know) as even Childe who was decently close with Zhongli did not recognize him as a god. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Too many ideas swirling around in my head. What do you think?
