Just seen this tutorial. I put "var /.4" (without the quotes) in the "Expression" field as the diameter of my wheels is 0.4m and that worked fine. I also changed "World Space" to "Local Space" in the bit at the bottom and now when I constrain the empty to follow a path the wheels point in the right direction all the time. Until I saw this tutorial I was having loads of trouble because I was trying to do this without drivers (you don't actually need them if the vehicle only travels in one direction) so many thanks Olav.

Use rig-a-car add-on it even has dynamic suspension and it's free

Dear MattVG, think in this way. Use another empty, add in Y-axis rotation set the driver, edit driver, set the object as that empty. Then add constraint to the wheel that the rotation Z should be min -20degree and max 20degree for example. In short: add another empty to do the driver. And set constraint to wheel Z rotation

Wow, I actually did not know that was possible, that’s why I linked to the source with the images, thanks. :) This is a rigging tutorial though, so rendering was not really the point.

Select the wheel, go to Object > Set Origin > Origin to center of mass (Surface)

Yes, I did use motor constraints in my tank rigs a long time ago. I want to get back to that at some point, a lot of fun!

Sylwester Mielniczuk haha you don’t say? 🤣 i’m still pretty beginner so i haven’t modeled a lot and i don’t understand half the things i’ve done now but i’m getting there, do you genuinely know how to separate wheels from a previous existing model or no?

Select all your wheels in edit mode and hit p - seperate by selection

dont use a cube use an empty

file > export > export as an .FBX should work
