CARRIER AGGREGATION TECHNIQUE (CA) -CAPACITY & COVERAGE ENHANCEMENT IN 4G LTE
Imagine a road is connecting two places. Now, As the number of people travelling increases, what do we do to serve the increased traffic? We add more lanes or construct flyovers.
Similarly in LTE, Carrier aggregation is used to serve increasing bit rate demand. Here bandwidth is increased by aggregating separate spectrum, thus increasing the bit rate and network performance.
We have shown the different technique can be use to deploy CA, such as
Intra-band Contagious - easiest to deploy
Intra-band Non Contagious - used in fragmented network
Inter-band - Complex
also we have shown the LTE CA Classes to differentiate from others.
It also includes gradual work done at different country to deploy CA and plan for the future release.

I am sorry , you are doing a great job. I really understand a lot of concepts easily. However, the accent in this video makes it tedious and so difficult to absorb the information presented here. you are explaining to the whole researchers who they are from various countries not only from India. So I recommend strongly to help all people to get benefits from your amazing explanation, you should use a clear accent not the Indian one . All my respect for you amazing channel.
@JakeHambyZ80

I have the opposite feedback. I find the author's Indian accent much more pleasant to listen to than the people he paid to do the voiceovers in the earlier videos in the series. I'd love to see some new videos in the same style as the later ones in the series.

Two questions dumb perhaps: 1) Isn't SCC eNB too distant for UE to well receive the signal? Thought the UE Rx would be designed to receive the signal within main cell rather than neighboring cell? 2) Can the Antenna operate at two or more carriers simultaneously when running CA?

@stevenz995
@stevenz995 7 лет назад
Great video! One question: does CA only work well at cell edge? at 2:30 the graph shows a phone communicating with several different cell towers (each cell tower is a eNB right?). I thought CA is about one serving basestation capable of handling multiple carrier components
@LTE4G
@LTE4G 7 лет назад
Thanks Steven. Glad that you asked we also had similar confusion. The answer is No! CA can be implemented anywhere. It can be implemented inside a single cell or inside overlapping cells(where small cells are involved). At cell edge where the performance degrades CA can be used to enhance it. In co-ordinated Multipoint (shall be discussed in upcoming video) you will see how signals from different sites are used constructively to serve user more efficiently. In release 10, the CA IS about one serving basesatation capable of handling multiple carrier components. but in Release 11 the support for multiple time advances was introduced i.e cells belonging to two different Base station. It is mentioned in the video. Happy Learning.

Hey I don't understand. So the intra band can have contiguous and non contiguous carriers? Whats the difference between inter and intra. Really confused
@LTE4G
@LTE4G 7 лет назад
+Akhilesh Rao - Yes Intra Band CA can have contiguous as well non contiguous carriers. In simple words Band refers to a chunk of Frequency Spectrum in which the service provider operates. In LTE there can be multiple bands. For example Band 3 refers to 1800MHz-FDD Band, where 1710-1755MHz is used for Uplink and 1805-1880MHz is used for downlink operation. Similarly Band 40 refers to 2300Mhz-Tdd banb, where 2300-2400Mhz is used for operation. You can refer to this link for further clarification. www.radio-electronics.com/info/cellulartelecomms/lte-long-term-evolution/lte-frequency-spectrum.php

This gives an impression that each component carrier is necessarily from different physical eNodeBs. I don't think it is the truth, is it?
@LTE4G
@LTE4G 7 лет назад
+atchut ram - No the component carriers can be of same eNodeB. Sometimes one eNodeB can radiate in different frequency in a particular sector. The different frequencies will have different RRH. In such case the component carriers can be of same eNodeB.

@LTE4G
@LTE4G 7 лет назад

@RajatSingh-ks1cd
@RajatSingh-ks1cd 7 лет назад
LTE I want to know that what can we do to mitigate the high prb utilisation issue will planning of small cell help ? Cause In my region there is a highly utilised site and to mitigate the issue we planned a macro site nearby but after radiation of that site the performance of the small cell present in the region started to degrade
@LTE4G
@LTE4G 7 лет назад
In LTE-Advanced there is a feature called Co-Ordinated Multipoint which can be implemented to reduce the Inter Cell interference. We are not RF experts maybe you can consult other experts for a better advice.
