This Uncle is correct. You do not need the most expensive tools to do the job. The same way you can cook a meal, without needing a high dollar chef knife. Here is what they don't tell you. This Wahl, and most Wahl clippers between $30 to $50 are almost the same - internally. Once you take the case apart, the internals are almost identical. Electrical magnetic shunt coil. Shunt. Simple toggle switch. Lamp cord. The cases have different designs and colors. There are different blades. The blades on the lower priced homeowner kits are the same blades used on the very expensive professional kits. You can also buy the different blades, and install them on your cheap clippers. The main difference is the motor. The professional equipment is more powerful. If you can source the part, it's actually pretty easy to take the motor from a very expensive set of clippers, and install it into your cheap clippers. It can be done. You can have the same parts and performance for less than $50, without spending over $100.

Thanks for watching the video and showing some love ✊🏽 I’m actually in the process to bring this channel back to life now that I have the time again so stay posted! Check out some of my other videos I briefly go over some of the terms. That was definitely one of my biggest challenges when I was first starting (self teaching myself) because there were no videos on RU-vid explaining that at the time. For example, I didn’t know the difference between a taper or a fade. When I found out it was just all about placement it took me awhile to grasp the concept. I’m glad you’re taking in interest in this craft that I love looking forward to helping you grow!

You should oil your blades before you cut and after. By doing this, we extend the life of the blades, basically improving its overall modus operandi. Not only that, but oiling your blades makes them less noisy too! Nontheless, do not apply too much oil. It will clog your clipper! Take it from me: I love cutting my hair so much! yo i recently started watching your videos due to this corona breakout and i must admit that your videos are very well made. Just straight up talking and keeping it real with your viewers is something i appreciate man so keep it up. On a side note i do have a quick question. I am considering fading my own hair using this same kit and i noticed two things watching all of these tutorials on youtube: 1) Is it true that each guideline you make is pretty much half a guard higher than the previous one? So start with no guard closed (a 0) then no guard open (a 0.5) then a 1 guard closed (a 1) and then either a 1 guard open or a 1.5 guard closed (a 1.5). 2) And for the fading part just opening the lever more the higher you go towards the next guideline (after which you also change the guards each time)? I'm sorry for the long post but this is what i think fading fundamentally is. If either one of those thoughts are wrong then please correct me! I would love to learn more!
@thephoenixbarber4435
@thephoenixbarber4435 4 года назад
I really appreciate the love, means a lot. Thank you for watching my videos and supporting. To answer your question...I have a video explaining the basics of guards and the system used in fading. Technically speaking on a more advance term than yes. I believe what you are referring too are detachable blades. With detachable blades, where blades like the 1A is almost in comparison with a fade clipper with the #1 guard lever closed. Every brand, every guard system, every individuals modifications to their clippers open up to different .mm lengths (there are multiple diagrams online that can be found). A fading clipper using a taper blade with a #1 guard closed hits closer than the same clipper using a fade blade with a different bevel. A good explanation of this and visual representation is the comparison between the regular andis master, andis fade master, and the andis phat master. They are all the same clipper but have different blades. Because they are different blades they all open up to different lengths. So even if they are using the same guards and are the same clippers they are all cutting at different .mm. This is the best way I know how to explain that. But at that level we are talking about very advance terms. So keep it simple for now, don't overthink it. Watch the video I have on guard systems and it'll clear up some of the confusion. On your second question you are correct. Although, when you are cutting and transition onto the next guideline you always want to make sure to be using the C-Motion technique or the "Circular Motion" technique. This is the best way to blend two guidelines together when transitioning. I hope this helps! I am happy to answer any more questions but can you also throw your questions into my Q and A form? I'm using this form to do a Q and A video in the future. forms.gle/mbLpjcoKdA1HWJAQ7

What is the difference between this set and Andis clippers? I’m just wondering why’s this so cheap compared to them when it looks like it does the job as well?
@thephoenixbarber4435
@thephoenixbarber4435 3 года назад
Which Andis clipper? These are specifically made for at home grooming. Not professional grade at all. They get the job done for sure which is why I love them for beginners and best of all, THE PRICE POINT. That way you don't make the same mistake I did and start buying all these unnecessary equipment because you see other influencers are using them. Saves you money and you can hone on your skills. Slowly adding equipment to your line up

@@thephoenixbarber4435 the best answer ever. Thank you very much, I was thinking between Andis and Wahl Deluxe pro for home use and I took Wahl purely because of your review. I am not a professional to cut fades but only for the sake of the children and me who have normal hair.

I cut my own hairline with these 2 years ago when I was 17, I went to far on the right side of my head, so I just left it to grow back since I had 2 months of summer left. When summer was over I the right side of my hairline never grew back at all, now 2 years later my hairline still grows uneven and and I have to push back the left side of my hairline to match the right side, and I look homeless and uneven when I don’t have a cut! Dose anybody know why this happened? I used this same kit! I think I think it was cause I pushed to hard but I didn’t even cut myself when doing it
@allensagalla1579
@allensagalla1579 3 года назад
Hmm, I don't wanna sound grim but, I think there may be an issue with your scalp and/or hair growth. Human hair often grows averagely up to an inch per month. It's a wonder how your hair grows uneven though you didn't even cut yourself when doing it

Allen Sagalla yup, I threw those trimmers out and bought a new more expensive one so it dosent repeat, but the clippers that come with the kit are good no need to replace them

@@spotem752 Wow, that's nice to know. As some of my barber friends say, "When getting a hair clipper, the quality often comes with the price" :-)
@thephoenixbarber4435

It's like buying a motorcycle. When you are starting you don't want to buy the new super expensive motorcycle to learn how to ride. No, you want the cheap motorcycle that gets the job done. The one that you can drop and it will still run phenomenal. When you get a lot better at riding and start to feel more confident in your skill you then trade in that good ol faithful for a new beauty. Think of clippers the same way. Buy the cheap one that gets the job done until you hone in on your skills. No need to add unnecessary expenses. To answer the other question. It could be alopecia. I've had many MANY clients that have gone to barbers that push their hairlines back and it just never grows like how it used too. So you are not alone. It could be natural hair loss as well

I figured out the problem that cheap trimmer caused ingrown hairs, the hairs were trapped under my skin for 2 years and I went to a lady and she plucked them out with twizzers. Now the hairs grown back and I only cut my hair with clippers that are $80+ now. I will never use a cheap trimmer agian in my life.

Hello! I do know how to fix trimmers. Although, if your trimmers are acting up I suggest sending them back since they should have a warranty on them or contacting your local barber supply store. Hope this helps!
