Unless DNAngles is intentionally misrepresenting the genetics that dictate the inheritance of eye color to drum up business for themselves, they may want to add a clarification in this video. The high school biology class referenced was clearly teaching incorrect information. While this may have motivated their client to hire DNAngles to dig deeper into their genealogy, the reality is that two blue eyed parents can produce a brown eyed child and that should be made clear in the video.
I was adopted. Found both birth parents when i was 51. I have brown eyes. My bio mother's eyes are green and my bio Dad's eyes were blue. I ran DNA and there was 100% match as parent/child for both of my bio parents. I look exactly like them. I also matched with a half brother on my father's side who had brown eyes. His mother also had green eyes. Period.
Umm... My parents both had blue eyes. I grew up with them and still have a truckload of photos of both of them. They had six children, three of us with blue eyes, two with hazel eyes, and one with brown eyes. Three of us have taken DNA tests -- including myself (blue eyes) and my brown-eyed sister. Let's call her Jenny. Jenny and I share over 2,800 CMs on Ancestry DNA, and the same on My Heritage. Jenny and I both have many strong cousin matches with known cousins from my father's side of the family, and also with many known cousins from my mother's side of the family. The amount of shared CMs with these cousins is exactly where it should be for those relationships. Jenny is 100% my full sister, and we are both the child of two blue-eyed parents. Go ahead and don't believe me if you want, but this is my reality. Both of my parents had blue eyes, and they had a brown-eyed daughter. My sister. ETA: A simple Google search turned up this: "Can Two Blue-Eyed Parents Have a Brown-Eyed Child? It is possible for two blue-eyed parents to have a brown-eyed child. Blue eye color is recessive while brown eye color is dominant. So, if the gene for brown eye color is present in the parents' DNA, then it is possible for their child to have brown eyes." Seriously, a simple Google search on this topic turned up at least a dozen reputable sources disproving the notion that two blue-eyed parents cannot have a brown-eyed child. The science of eye-color genetics has evolved. What if I had watched this video and I HADN'T already done a DNA test on my brown-eyed sister? I'd be sitting here deeply upset, convinced that my mother must have cheated on my father and that Jenny must really be my half-sister. After all, a youtube "expert" said it, so it must be true. Thankfully, I already have the DNA results to prove otherwise.

The science of eye-color genetics has evolved. The folks at DNA Angels do good work, but they are NOT genetic scientists and they need to be more careful making broad proclamations like this.
I have heard of another case like this. I also have studied biology and DNA, and, though it is rare, there can be many reasons that blue-eyed parents can have brown eyed children (or green, hazel). With eye color, to simplify, it is like you have four switches. If one is on, you have blue, two is green, three is hazel, and four is brown. Also rare is no switches on which brings pink (albino). Sometimes one can have genes but something happens and they are not expressed, such as a parent having a gene for brown eyes but something doesn’t happen as it usually does and blue eyes are expressed. Environmental reasons was another possibility of something unusual happening. Genetics are so weird, and the more we learn, the more we realize that we don’t know. But it is so fascinating!
I agree with you, I did a quick search on google and got the same info. My grandparents both had blue eyes and only their oldest child had brown eyes. All the others had blue. It is not common, but it is not impossible... I think I read a 1% chance of it happening.
My one friend and her brother have brown eyes. Both parents have blue eyes. My friend and her brother look so much like their dad, except for the eye color. There was no hanky panky...they are absolutely their biological parents
My oldest sister has brown eyes just like my mom. My younger sister has hazel eyes just like my dad. I have blue eyes so of course my sisters said I was the milkman’s kid. My hair is very different too (I have straight blonde hair until puberty hair, they have curly to wavy dark hair). When I took anatomy in college eye color was way more complicated than in elementary school. My younger sister had a baby who was my spitting image!
It's not O% chance its rare but there's 17 different genes for eye color and two different ways to have blue eyes one group of people, have a recessive line from one group that turned off a gene and made their eyes blue (central Europeans, Czechs, Austrians, Hungarians) it's related to the same genes which turned off can make people have green eyes. And the other one which is found in the Nordic regions. These two peoples when they have children can have brown eyes if those two genes cancel each other out. Rare but it's possible. Don't tear up a family over that.
The problem with high-school biology is that it simplifies the issue to only two possibilities. My mother and all of her siblings and both parents had blue eyes. Completely expected. My dad had interesting eyes, brown with gold flecks in the centers with a blue ring around the edge. That is never covered in basic classes.
