Not only do the children have an honorary grandpa, but their interactions will help him live healthier and longer. Elderly loneliness is real.

His wife passed but God sent these angels to look after him until he joins her on the other side!!! Damn this is beautiful 🥹🥹❤

This is what the Love Of God looks like.

When I moved into my current address my daughter became attached to this elderly couple upstairs. The husband is a retired veteran and wife a retired seamstress. They are my kids grandparents for now 8 years and I am eternally grateful for them. My kids both run into their arms and say grandpa and grandma with the biggest smile everyday to them.

At 79 very close to 80 years old, I would love a family to adopt me. What a great story of there is no colour.

It’s easy to love, it’s hard to hate. Paul is a beautiful man. Those children must bring him so much joy.

The children walked him home to made sure he made it safe, he turns around and walks them back to make sure they are safe. That moved me to tears! So beautiful ❤

Elderly people make me happy...like kids

The same thing happened to my father, before he died.After my mom died, my father a Jamaican lived alone in their family home in Florida.On the opposite side of the street was a young American white couple with their kids.They loved my father so much, they practically adopted him.The kids loved to spend time with him.The parents regularly brought him meals, took him to the doctor, go for walks with him etc.Unfortunately, us, his own adult kids were living too far away in other states.I was living in Italy at the time.When the parents called me and told me that I needed to come soon because he was in his last days, I immediately boarded a flight.Fortunately I arrived just in time.Thank you Michelle and Beau! Your love and care will forever stay in my heart.

When the little kids want to hug you, you know that's their grandpa.

This is the era that I grew up in. We adopted our older neighbors and made them part of the family. They watched us while we played and gave a feeling of security. No anxiety, no social awkwardness. The parents talked to one another and helped one another. Grandparents who did not have biological family near by had village families. We were blessed.

This is sweet. Nothing wrong with adopting elderly people. They deserve love and care too.

Stop it... This is literally what I needed today. People love to just disregard the elderly because sometimes it's tough to try and slow down so they can keep up, be it mentally or physically. These people are making sure his glory years arent filled with loneliness, but filled with the love that comes with a family.

Being an elder is not easy

To fear a place were your going to leave based on your skin color is just so sad. Nice they found this wondelful neighbor.

This is what true love between people of the world looks like. They didn’t have to do that for him but cared enough about him to let him into their family and stay, that’s real appreciation and love

His wife can see him being cared for. What more could someone want for a loved one they have to leave behind in the physical world?

Paul is so sweet ❤🥹. My family moved to a neighborhood where we were the only Black family and we had a neighbor like Paul. Ms. Melba ❤ she lived next door. We would share our gardens 🥰 . I would go over to house to talk… I’ve always loved talking to the elderly… I was 7 years old going to go play with Ms. Melba. Her son worked for a snack company and when he came to visit her he found out she had a little friend 😁, he started bringing me bags of snacks… I couldn’t believe it ❤🥹🥰 I was thankful ☺️. I remember all the kids asking me why I got those snacks,… at that time I didn’t really know why… but as I got older I realized that I was the only child that visited her house just to talk and play 😊. My parents and Ms. Melba shared gardens ❤. No one else on our block talked to Ms Melba …. She was my first friend in my new neighborhood Thank you Ms Melba ❤ love u 😘

I love how he said “you get many chances to talk to people. If you don’t take a chance, you may miss a friend you would have had.” That’s how I see the world too. I try and talk to as many strangers as I can. Sometimes I make their day and it makes me happy. Go and strike up a conversation at the waiter or the grocery shop. It really makes your day too ☺️

This reminds me so much of our neighbor Alice an old black woman we, my siblings and i cared alot for we were little but still remember her everyime we saw her we ran to say hello she would bring a piece of candy or something to give us she was so lovely kind hearted. She lived alone with llike 6 dogs. Sometimes when she got sick we visited her took her flowers or just to see if she may needed something. I remember every Sunday she would dress up to go to church looking so elegant. It was like that for many years untill she passed away 😭. We still have a picture of her in my moms house. I miss her i wish i would have been older to get to know her better.

You can tell just being around those kids means so much to him.

My 80yr old mother has the most wonderful neighbors. I live 7hrs from her and it's good knowing people watch out for her besides our extended family. She loves her neighbors & they love her. Thanks humanity, From a Grateful Daughter

I love this. One thing I have noticed in my life is that most people are not as bad as you think. A smile and a simple "Hello. How are you doing today?" is often all it takes to get the ball rolling. We live in a world where many of us are scared of each other, so we brace ourselves for tough interactions from the start. A little gentleness goes a longggg way ❤

My brother and his family kinda have a neighbour like that too. Their neighbour lives alone and doesn't have any family. Every week the whole family goes to visit him and it makes him so happy. He loves the kids and they often make drawings and other artsy things for him. There are many lonely elderly that would love visits like this.

My neighbour was part of my family. She was at all our birthdays, any party, or just because. We were in each others houses multiple times a week. I loved her like a grandmother and we just lost her last week. Our lives will never be the same.😢

I know what it's like to have honorary grandchildren. I have dozens of them at church who truly are my "special medicine". If you have children and need to send a get well card, just text a picture of the kids doing something cute. Then add a note. It will be a very cheery message and isn't a lot of effort. But it means A LOT to the recipient. I received a lot of these messages.

Man, such a simple thing and i guarantee that means the world to him. So many seniors are lonely and they deteriorate because they spend all their time alone with nothing to do. Kids especially keep them lively.
