Time has changed alot. In 1987 I was paying $35 a month $5 water and $5 for a maid in Cebu for a 2 bedroom apartment. Back then all rental property came with a maid or housekeeper...it was a great service because she did all the chores and shopping
You can still get apartments in the Philippines for $250-$1200 a month good apartments that’s still cheaper than usa in usa on average people are spending dam near 3,000 a month for rent or mortgage
@@jamalgreen3056 ...the thing about the Philippines is there is no value for money..the $250 apartment is not going to be much. I agree that the rent is high everywhere in the US but in the Philippines there is too much to sacrifice living there. The upside is that I have two houses in Mexico and California worth over $850,000 and I would bet my life that No one on any channel has anything worth that in the Philippines.i watched a expat build a house for $189,000 in the Philippines...1200 sq ft...and I paid $84,000 for my house in Mexico that is 5200 sq ft...
Nice place looking forward to seeing this place when I come to Dumaguete for my first time from Canada to meet my girlfriend and her family from lalibertad
Thanks to you and Jena Lynn my friend.. I am a poet and don't know it😮hehe I love all of you all's videos and especially the rental videos.. hello from south Louisiana and I will see you all soon😊😊
Thanks for watching as always Richard! Would you do me a favor? If you can find a small bag of masa(used to make tortillas) I will owe you BIG TIME! I told a friend of mine who owns a Mexican restaurant that I would bring her some back, but my luggage weighed too much and I thought the humidity would get to it if I put it in a balikbayan box for 3 months. I’ll pay you back
Been coming to the Philippines for over 30 years & have come to the conclusion there is not a good pizza to be had anywhere. I think a 5 rating was pretty generous.
From what I've gathered if you want 🍕pizza🍕 in the Philippines you will have to make it yourself. Meaning you will need to get flour, yeast, salt, warm water, tomato sauce, toppings of your choice, and of course mozzarella cheese if you can find it.
Anything by a beach in the Philippines is extremely hot and humid with intense sun. Add Typhoons to mix and it’s worse. Best to live inland in higher elevations and cooler climates as Tagaytay or near Baguio. Also the monsoons dissipate so a lot safer. High ground with good drainage and concrete reinforced river runoffs down stream. Dumaguete offers nothing other than a few restaurants.
We live in Baguio....there are positives and negatives everywhere. Baguio is a place of approx. 400k residents but gets 1.2 million visitors. We feel small earth quakes all the time...and you have landslides. Not to mention what you can get for 100k is 400k in Baguio. This is the place where all the rich Filipino business owners by houses so prices are sky high. Often times equal or higher than the US. We lived on the beach in Florida and were shocked Baguio prices. Much of it is insanity.
Thanks! I also got an iPhone 15 when I went back to the states. It’s got a great camera. We’re leaving on a 4 day trip today. I will probably do the golf course next Saturday or Sunday if you’re still interested. I believe the green fees with cart were $36
JC, long story short…I will be videoing the golf course 3 pm Monday afternoon. You would not believe what I had to go through to do it….they actually tried to double the price because “I would be making money off of the video”. I got it worked out, but it took driving 45 minutes to another property to meet face to face with their GM. Fortunately, her bark was worse than her bite in person
Thanks for the video. How do you think a traditional American Pizza place would do there? Would the Locals like it with traditional marinara and toppings?
Thanks for watching Bravo! It would do great in the Dumaguete area because of the high concentration of Americans. The locals would like it too, but one thing you have to consider is a good traditional pizza will cost 450-500 pesos. That’s a lot of money to most Filipinos
Hey Kev, great job! Some questions: Am I wrong or is the rent for that place is more than what you are paying in your compound? The place is of good size and I like how the sounds are kept out. How far is it from the open market in Bacong? How do you kept dishes really clean without hot water? Bambulos is nice for a hangout close by with many options. Thanks!
Thanks as always for watching Remo😉. It’s actually 2K less than our house. Prices are steadily going up here in Dumaguete. It is negotiable…and I would negotiate. Best I can say on the dishes is to microwave your sponge to kill everything. It’s about 2 minutes north of the open market. There’s a good sushi restaurant and legit massage parlor(250 PHP/hour) at the national highway right by it too
You have three options for creating hot water: option #1 use the hot water from the bathroom option #2 you can boil water on the stove option #3 you can boil water in the microwave
Pardon me for having skipped around on the video (unfortunately I do NOT have too much time on my hands!), but I saw no mention of the rental amount for the unit. Could you please tell me how much it is, and the lease options (monthly/ annually, etc)? Thanks for the tour, much appreciated!
We just signed the lease and paid the deposit. Bf is originally from USA but living in Philippines for 8 yrs. Spent months looking at places in Dumas, val, Darin and Sam, looked at about 50 places. Many are in old and run down condition or very close to actual rooster farms or slaughterhouses or other noisy commercial ops. Some are new but poor quality. Many r just too small. Rarely something good pops up, we see the listing the first day and bam it's gone before we can even see it. The supply of bigger, better quality places is so low. There is an actual wait list for some of the better places and when one of those becomes available it goes to the next person on the list. We got this for 25k. A new air con will be ins t called in the LR. Adjoining ots are empty. This place is a very good quality brand new build and given the market today and our months of looking we r happy w our choice. Thanks to Alma and Angel for helping us find this and enduring all of our months of looking.
Everything is a negotiation in the Philippines. I am going to say this is a little high…I have found most prices are 15-30% what there bottom line price is.
Idk why y’all Americans complain 28000pesos is still affordable for us 28,000 pesos not $1,000 usd not even $600 usd a month tell me where u can live in the usa for $508 usd a month no where🤔
@@jamalgreen3056 Your point? By the way you actually can find rentals for that price and we are not talking about the USA. If you want to talk about the differences between a developing country and the United States and why the Philippines should be cheaper if you want to attract expats, we can. A fraction of those here would be if we were paying US prices. Just a heads up, a serious portion of the GDP is supplemented by Billions of dollars entering the Philippines economy each year from remittance. This does not include the expats in the Philippines and the jobs and money we bring in to local communities. Now, Serious issues exist and apart of daily life for expats are often disregarded by locals. It’s frustrating, and I am tired of some attempting to charge foreigners what it costs us in the United States. With no regard what we have to deal with in the Philippines. The laws are not in our favor. We are seen as a walking ATM. Everyone is attempting to capitalize on us, It’s not a great feeling. It’s overwhelming at times. You wonder why some expats stay in their homes…
Yes, I am Mark Thornton’s next door neighbor. I pay 30K for a 2 bedroom 2 bath house in the same compound, BUT welcome to $Dumaguete$……it’s getting more and more expensive each month thanks to the influx of expats
She is so funny...they way she explained the food...it was like she was grading it for the whole Filipino population 😅😅😅😅😅 it doesn't have flavor until you drip in the soy sauce...I don't think I seen a original made pizza in the Philippines especially the cheese..I don't know what is going on with cheese in the Philippines.. maybe because of not using whole milk
The ”cheese” is not really cheese it’s made with oil not any dairy products. And you have to be careful because a lot of the “milk” is not really milk either.
Personally, if I'm gonna rate and compare a restaurant pizza to a frozen pizza - "Delisio" is the brand I find to be closest to my liking of a traditional pizza.
Sorry Robert, by the time we ordered…I completely forgot about it. I’ll get it the next time we are in a restaurant that serves it. It’s actually a very popular dish here
Thanks for watching Chris! This will be long gone by then, but contact me before you get here. I know a place that would do a monthly rental that is actually right on the beach, almost next door to a restaurant and a sari sari store(Filipino convenience store) within a 100 meters
Mate !!! You are being robbed !! 28k , no way ! You can get a 3 bed bungalow for 12k on the beach .. This property at the most is 10k a month anywhere in the province.. Donnot be taken a fool .. Shop around my friend .. Donnot sign that contract ... Check out negros Oxidental , 2 hour drive from that house..
