Best album EVER!!!! Best front man EVER!!!!! Idc what anyone else says. This is just one persons opinion. Mine. I feel so honored to have been a teenager when this record came out. I've traveled around the US to see Axl perform. It's been nice to see him & the boys back on stage together again. Gunner 4ever! ✌
I love the fact all of the best songs off the subsequent albums, Like November Rain, Don't cry, Patience & Civil War were all to my knowledge written during the appetite era and were saved for Lies and the Illusion records, it really shows the band's unified creativity burned brightly for a handful of years and was then quickly snuffed out for reasons we know all too well
This was THE RECORD by Guns N’ Roses no doubt. Kudos to Use Your Illusions 1 and 2 but nothing like their debut. It’s got that Sunset blvd vibe and a lot of energy that was implemented and harnessed in those songs from welcome to the jungle, paradise city, my Michelle, to rocket queen. Mr brownstone is badass as well.
I STRONGLY believe this list should be reworked with the departure of Black Dahlia Murder, Ghost, and maybe even Tool, in favor of the self-titled Korn record, Scream Bloody Gore (Death), and perhaps even Van Halen I (which, for 78, is definitely metal).
Wow did this list start getting bad... My expectations were set high with Black Dahlia Murder then it just started going down. Guns N' Roses is not metal, let's be real. Sorry if this makes me an "elitist", but where is Death, Morbid Angel, Cynic, Mayhem, Emperor, Dissection, Entombed, Dismember, and Suffocation? So many missed opportunities.
Justyn Fogarty Those are all death metal & black metal bands so it's too style specific a list when the list is called "top 10 debuts in "metal" Also with the exception of Suffocation and Cynic I'm not sure I really was blown away with some of those other bands "debut" albums enough to put them on a top 10 list. Death's Scream Bloody Gore album is hugely influential but it pales so much in comparison to their "Human" album which is a top 5 metal album all time in my opinion, that I can't put it on my list.
Top ten debuts in METAL!! GnR aren't metal. Can't believe the amount of amazing and influential metal albums they snubbed. Here are a few: INRI by Sarcofago Orchid by Opeth Show no Mercy by Slayer Seven Churches by Possessed Terra incognita by Gojira I predict either Kill em All or Blizzard of Ozz to be N1. I doubt they are going to put similar entries from the last list.
Since Guns N' Roses is on this list and that they lean towards a hard rock sound , I think this list should include Van Halen's debut on it. Also I'm surprised over other debuts that have not been included like from Black Sabbath, Metallica, Yngwie Malmsteen, and others that are great and had a great impact on metal. Wonder what number 1 is?
I think Black Sabbath deserved to be on the list it's widely considered the first real heavy metal album and it's a great album on top of it. It should have taken the place of Appetite (no offense meant towards Appetite, it's a great album just not a metal album.)
Considering it came out in 1970 and was the first true heavy metal album ever shouldn't Black Sabbath's self titled debut album just be the default #1 "debut album in metal"? I feel like all other debuts are fighting for the #2 spot considering those bands had years of other metal influence to build on going into their debut. Black Sabbath just seems to check of all the boxes. On another note, aside from the production sound quality I'm surprised Venom's "Welcome to Hell" isn't on this list.
Taking the "Is Appetite even a "metal" album?" out of the debate, if I'm just comparing Kill Em All and Appetite for Destruction in a top 10 debuts in metal debate, I'm definitely taking Appetite for Destruction as the better debut album and I'm not sure it's really close. On it's own, its a better album and still GnR's best album whereas Metallica would have 3 albums in a row much better than Kill Em All with Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and And Justice for All. Also, and the biggest reason....If I wanna hear Guns n' Roses it's Appetite or nothing at all whereas with Metallica I'd rather listen to the 3 albums after Kill Em All more than that one. Also, the production and overall sound of the album is miles ahead on Appetite.
You basically just made everyone choose between the first maiden album, the first sabbath album and kill 'em all. 2 of those albums aren't gonna make this list, therefore it isn't valid.
This list keeps getting worse and worse. Guns N Roses aren't fucking metal. They never considered themselves metal, they're cock fucking rock, and to top it off Axl Roses voice is one of the most irritating noises known to man, it's like getting a mosquito trapped in your ear canal. In The Dark Side Eclipse, Focus, Altars Of Madness, Iron Maiden, Orchid, Deicide, Scream Bloody Gore, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas or Bonded By Blood aren't in the list but the nu-comedy metal of Slipknot and the cock rock of G and Fucking R are. What a fucking joke.
LMAO no ... axl's voice is unique , and also slipknot are not nu metal even if they were created in that era...u just dont know shit about music and just write BS behind ur computer , the only thing u said that i can agree with is that gnr are rock and not metal
You gotta be fucking kidding me, this, Slipknot, and Ghost made the list but not Black Sabbath? How the fuck is the first Sabbath record not #1, it basically started the genre. For the record I think Appetite is a great debut but I don't see how it's metal.
Im not watching the other videos in the countdown, but im just guessing they are all american bands for some reason, and im just saying GnR was not metal. And Hanoi Rocks was better.
One - This shit ain't metal. I hate this band with all my guts, specially Rose. Two - If Kill' EM All by Metallica isn't in first, this is the most ridiculous ranking I've ever seen.
