It is hard to beat that old red iron! We still run it and love every minute of it. It will be interesting to see how the new stuff stacks up against it as for longevity
I put 29 crops through a 79 1440. Three complete rebuilds during that time still cost me less than trading until in 2006 I bought a real good, low houred 1680.
I have been watching a few of your videos and noticed you have some of the older Case tractors. I can't tell what models they are except the 830. What are the others? When I grew up we had Case tractors and loved every one of them. They were great strong dependable tractors back then.
Great video. I'm not a farmer, but I have noticed on a lot of farming harvest video's, that there doesn't appear to be a easy way or method employed to separate the corn or beans from the non desired plant material that gets mixed in from the harvesting process. Is the "debris" penalty you can get docked for at a grain elevator not worth somebody inventing some kind of high capacity vibration sorting device to better separate the corn and beans from the left over chaff? Just curious.
You are getting a lot of cob pieces. The reason is that the ears are tumbling in the rotor cage, not rolling. It seems counter-intuitive, but the concave needs to be set tighter. We sold our 1440 last week, our 1680 is set at 1.5 on the indicator & our 2388 is at 2.1 on the LCD. > 90% of our cobs on the ground are whole.
