2 things to remember about Splatlings: 1, the first charge ring indicates how much range your charge will have, so charging just the first ring gives you all your range, but with less duration. 2, if you find that you've charged too much, or you want to start Charging again for an imminent threat before your current charge is done firing, going into Swim form resets whatever charge you have, and conserves the ink the remaining Charge would have used. This is especially useful for Heavy and Hydra both.

Really want to second the swim form for interrupting charge. I was expecting it to be the second tip in this, but it wasn't.

one important thing to note about the hydra splatling. it is the only splatling that it's damage per bullet is increased from 35 to 60 if it is fully charged. this is ESPECIALLY important against cohozuna

As an achor player, I really love Splatlings. I can tear it up in SR. Even if I use mainly chargers/bows, I am used to partial charges with Splatlings as I did used to play Heavy Splatling quite a bit. I've been learning Ballpoint lately since its constantly in SR, I find it quite fun in pvp too. Immobility isn't a huge deal to me, but if you do need to travel quickly, you can just do Splatling hops by jumping, small charging in the air and directly ink below your feet to quickly move through enemy ink before finding a good position again.

As someone who struggles a lot with splatlings during SR this is incredibly helpful.

I actually did not know about the training dummy stickers! That will definitely come in handy especially against the steel heads! Great tips once again! 👍

I didnt realize the steel head balloon in the training room is at the same height as the bomb weak point on a steelhead! the more you know

The other day I was at the basket while all 3 of my teamates were at shore and I was just sitting there with no eggs like, "I could have sworn there was a cannon, why are there no eggs?" Needless to say we lost from lack of eggs.

Hydra main here. Here's another tip -- how to escape. In the training room, go to the back of the wall and practice a quarter charge. When you release, shake your controller up and down a few times to create a long thin line of ink that works just like a curling bomb. It's a good way to escape and recharge ink. Also, while charging, back up when possible away from your target. A fast inking weapon is a good pair for the hydra player. You don't need to stay close, but cycle back and ensure the area around them is painted so they can keep firing on bosses.
@Quargos
@Quargos Год назад
Big big thing on top of judging how much charge you need; everyone must know that you can swim to discard your charge as a splatling, to avoid just wasting ink shooting nothing when you do inevitably overcharge for some things.

Thank for the hydra info always appreciate learning more about the weapons I’ve played with less or had little to no experience with. As always greatly appreciated. Also joined the discord just haven’t been able to play should be able to play again soon and I’ll be more active then.

3:06 omg how did I never notice that! I knew what the other balloons represented but had no idea why the ones in the back and up high had different health than the cohok one

What?!?!?!? I never knew that in the training room, those objects had stickers that represents enemies. I knew they represented enemies but I didn't know they had specific stickers on them. I feel so blind because I honestly never noticed them before and I played Salmon Run a lot.

I feel like another good tip for Hydras is that dealing with Flyfish is shpuld be partially considered. Splat Bombs already use about 75% of your ink tank and Hydras are a very ink-hungry weapon, as such its harder to maintain a good ink tank whenever needed.

Hydra is one of my fave weapons in the game, so it’s nice to see you spreading the good word about this Splatling. 😌
@TripodV3VO

one thing to mention is that if you do end up overcharging, you can go to squid/octopus form so you don’t lose more ink

Even though Hydra has carried me all the way to S+11 in PvP, i still struggle with it in Salmon Run sometimes. Run speed is just that good with the weapon, and having no ability on it while in SR makes it even more tricky to play. As a side note, i shall add one more tip for Hydra (and it also applies in PvP), if you're in a down time waiting to lure bosses (or if you have a slight advantage in neutral in a PvP anarchy battle), take time to create additional escape routes. Planning in advance your positionning will greatly help you moove around the stage when you need to retreat.

Yeah. Me, as a splat charger main, planning escape routes ahead of time is very crucial.

I'm not a fan of this type of weapon, but Salmon Run is definitely something else, something I love is its strength when it comes to attacking, even if it's a heavy weapon. Without a doubt, it never hurts to review a video and be constant in terms of practice. Thank you very much for the video, I always take note of all these tips 😌👌✨.

Small tip for all players during a hydra rotation: clear the damn flyfishes. Your hydra can’t do anything when their constant missile spamming. Same applies to stingers, but flyfishes are worse.

Hi Haz I have always loved your videos, they help me do better in salmon run each time! I have reached VP 400 as my best so far, and trying to aim for 600. But I am starting to feel like I am capped at 400, and won't be able to clear higher hazard levels. I am okay with just being a mediocre player but also at the same time I wonder if there's something I am doing wrong, like what Salmonids are priority targets at higher VP, or should we clear certain Salmonids (other than stinger/flyfish/bigshot) at the shore before they make a mess. I also see a lot of VP players don't do much luring and I wonder how much luring is appropriate... overall I wonder if trying to reach 600 VP requires a different mindset that I am not understanding? Thank you!!
@HDHaZmY
@HDHaZmY Год назад
Don't worry too much and just enjoy the game - experience comes in time! On Higher VP luring is usually the way to go and splatting on the shore is usually not a good idea - the trick is to always keep clearing something on the stage whether it's lessers or a boss and the moment a Stinger or a Flyfish appear you have to react to them IMMEDIATELY! Keep practicing and you'll get there!

For me i find the 60-70% mark a comfortable balance. And if anything try not to use bomb or egg throws unless necessary, there’s times I did just that and it leaves me defenceless
@leftovernoise
@leftovernoise Год назад
Just a heads up the damage per shot when fully charged almost doubled with the hydra. just something to keep in mind especially for cohozuna. There are definitely times where positioning in a place where you can fully charge is the best choice.

Also, wasn’t there some kind of glitch where if you throw a splat bomb at a specific spot on this map, the bomb gets stuck and won’t explode for like 15 seconds, thus potentially allowing one to run out the clock at the end? Is that still in the game, or has it since been patched out?
