PLEASE Set up a live stream so we can tune into Pantdora anytime. Would be cool with different angles, etc. Brilliant work, we love you, AntsCanada - from the England🏴
Jesus Christ dude, this is BY FAR the best series on ants I've EVER seen. Everything about this is absolutely incredible. Every week, we get a discovery style documentary.
Thats what i thought too!!! i thought it was a discovery channel thing at first hahaha!!! the work involved, the background music, the camera work.. all of it! i think hes missing his calling .. or finally living it hahaha!!
I think i speak for many people when i say that as a child, I was mesmerized by animal planet and never thought id be captivated by nature in that way again being an adult. But every episode of this vivarium series has brought me right back to something i thought was gone. What a gift! Thank you!
I just realized today that the reason why I enjoy this series so much is that it reminds me of the Attenborough Planet Earth series. You are seriously on that level and I'd imagine you could do a full cinema feature some day. A request I'd like to make is a timelapse of the full week so we can see the plants and animals "breathe". I'm envisioning that the plants would pulse, search and flourish beautifully with an extended recording.
I tend to find the narration a _bit_ too repetetive on occasion and usually over-dramatized somewhat to a lot. But thats just my taste. I like the british understatement in nature observation, as Attenborough has been named. The loving observation is palpable. And we can feel the hundreds of hours we only get served in condensed form. Love the content.
Sorry but this guy has nothing on Attenborough. This guys voice can get a little annoying and the conversation isn't as interesting. Attenborough has a nicer a voice and a more informative explanation
@@Worthy1234 your trying to put him on an Attenborough stage nxt to him were saying he's getting just as good nothing wrong with your opinion but strongly disagree this man and his channel is on its way right up
one thing i didn't think enough people praise in this series is the writing. every episode is so hilarious and suspenseful due to your great writing talent! love the series so much, keep it up!
I absolutely agree with this!!! That was one thing that really struck me was the fact that not only did he build this INCREDIBLE vivarium, but he's a talented videographer and an actor lol
I hope you know this is the highlight of mine and I'm sure a lot of other people's weekends! I always look forward to updates. Fascinating stuff! Thankyou.
@@AntsCanada I just LOVE this series too! And I learn so much with each episode, about plants and animals that I never knew much about. And Im still speaking a biologist by profession! ^^ A BIG, warm thank you!
One of the most truly unique series I've had the privilege to admire - It's obvious your are very passionate about what you do, and I love that. For thirty minutes every weekend I'm captivated by your care for God's creation. Keep it going!!
My 7 year old son (who I honestly think will be an entomologist when he grows up) says the Marauder ant colony should be called the ‘Terra-Raiders’! Watching this show every weekend together is definitely a big highlight for us. We love this Vivarium! Keep it up!
Amazing to see Pandora thriving post Dark Horde. I was happy to see the crickets thriving because seeing the babies being carried off had me screaming. Oh and finally we get the arachnid babies! It'll be so interesting to see how they change the dynamic of the environment. And I'm glad you had some words about the intelligence of plants. Thanks for demonstrating how to be an observant stuart of the natural world. 🌏🐜💕
I know it was hard for you to remove the black crazy ants and intervene. But I’m glad you decided to do it and that it’s greatly benefited Pandora. You’re right, it’s not the black crazy ants’ fault for being invasive, it’s humanity’s fault for spreading them around world to places they don’t belong. But that also means it’s our responsibility to fix our mistakes by removing them from the local environments. And it doesn’t always have to mean killing them, for example I’m glad you found a school to take the colony off your hands for education. Great work AC, Ant Love Forever! 🐜❤️
@@AntsCanadaIs it too late for the suggestion for Mauraders name? If not, then here is the name suggestions "The Maurader Spartans" (If they are agressive) "The Maurader Republic" (Star Wars reference maybe)
This show caused me to build a small terrarium with the kids. A simple glass cookie jar turned into a daily big watch with the kids! The cookie jar was FULL of life - spiders, earthworms, flies, fungi, centipedes and more. Feeding time (cucumbers, dead bugs, fruit) was our favorite and created memories with the kids. It was also very therapeutic to just sit and try to find life that you didn’t know was there. (Side note - I added a few snails and they mated like crazy and were everywhereeeeee). Thanks again for the awesome channel!!!!!
@@AntsCanadahi I saw a comment and people where wondering if you could set up a live stream one day so we can just tune in and see how pandoras going love the content btw 😊
I've been a weekly watcher now for almost 4 years and this new rainforest is by far the most captivating of all... 😍 And the day the new video goes up turns into my best day of the week! 🥰
I've been trying to tell people that RU-vid is basically like the new cable TV and all the best and brightest young stars are there making content where back in the day they'd be on television. This guy's videos are of similar caliber to stuff you'd find on Discovery Channel and whatnot.
The 3rd graders I work with after-school are begging me to show them ALL of the Plantdora videos, and a few of your other ant videos. They just read a story about ants and really want to learn more. 😊
The first age of Pantdora is over - The age of the Black horde has passed and a new age has started. The second age; the age of the arachnids. I love this project. It gives so much amazing footage and it is exciting to see the interaction between all the animals and plants.
Started watching this a few episodes ago and it’s like my daily soap opera. I was drinking wine while watching this last night and was talking to the tv, cheering on certain bugs while damning others. So far, my favorite is the praying mantis. I smile so big seeing her grow. I’m def a fan and I’m only a few episodes in. Once I finish the GAIA playlist, I’m gonna look into the rest. This is so great. Probably the best thing I’ve found on RU-vid. Thank you for being patient with the creatures and having appreciation for how nature needs the creepy crawlers even tho they’re not the most liked creatures. Really love what you got going on. Happy I found you !!!
Oh , and you should have seen my husband when he saw the huntsman spider 🤣 I had this on the big screen and he was like “BABE! WHY DO YOU WATCH THIS STUFF?!? TURN IT OFF!” 😂
Yes! Sunday morning, cup of coffee in hand and the best series on RU-vid to watch. Perfect start to the day! Edit: That gave me chills at the end. I’d like to say the writing of your narration is absolutely top notch. It’s the icing on the cake of an amazing visual experience.
I'm totally with you on this. I was lying in bed and looked at my phone, saw the new episode was out and immediately got up and got ready for the day just so I could watch. I was that excited for this episode.
I left you years ago. The show was about roaches, and you made a comment along the lines of, ‘even if you don’t think roaches live in your house, they come out at night to nibble on your toothbrush.’ I was horrified, as I have a major roach phobia. I could not watch your channel after that, as I no longer felt safe in my home, and couldn’t risk that happening again. It’s been a few years. My toothbrush lives in a bug-proof glass and mesh container, and this video came across my feed. I’ve missed you so much, and I’m so happy to have you back in my life.
As someone who grew up absolutely fascinated by the miniature life of bugs, Pandora is literally a dream tank. I'd spend hours and hours just watching life unfold, so thank you for taking us along that journey with you!
Your videos are gold. When I was a child in the 1980s, all I had were encyclopedias and eventually subscriptions to Aquarium Fish and Reptiles magazines to feed my interest in biology. I also had aquariums and, thanks to a goldfish that outgrew its tank, my parents let me put a small pond in our townhouse backyard-the frogs and dragonflies that came on their own and the plants all around and inside the pond ended up dominating my interests. Your videos would have been such a benefit to my self-education. And the wonder that you bring to the narration and the narratives you selectively present bring me back to that time in my life. I'd never install something like this in my home-not with roaches and ants!!-but it's a gorgeous and interesting slice of curated nature. Thanks for sharing it with the world.
I'm gonna say this.. This is probably my favorite series on RU-vid. This is the coolest thing I've ever seen AND it's very educational as well. You deserve all the subs in the world for the amount of effort you put into these videos.
I don't know how you're able to film all of these events so well, keep on top of this beautiful vivarium and make sure you capture the cool stuff. Much respect. Your enthusiasm and awe at the natural world is really infectious.
The praying mantis getting her wings was amazing. I thought they were born with them until this video. Amazing. I loved how the carpenter ants moves the queen. The 2 in the back were looking side to side and behind for predators like the ant secret service. Never known any insects to be interesting before. Love this channel
its actually something I also only found out relatively recently, when some species of flying arthropods get their wings, it usually means they reached adulthood and won't molt anymore.
The carpenter ants were like "Your Majesty, our scouts have discovered a suitable location for our new colony. We will escort you the location, Your Highness".
I told all my coworkers they needed to check this series out. I never thought I would be so caught up in the life of ants and all the other creatures in Pantdora!!
I don't know if I'm alone on this.... BUT can we get a "How I tend to Pandora!" Video where you show all the little things like food adds and cleaning in full to know how much you do to keep such an amazing project going?
He only does water changes its an ecosystem so he tries to make it as low maintenance as possible, which means they hunt for they're food and no cleans.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing a shorter format one-off on tank care. I do know AC has mentioned cleaning the glass regularly for good visibility earlier in this series.
He has already done videos detailing these things. Iirc in episode 3, he details what he calls ecosystem events in which he does things like add a piece of fruit or a little leaf litter . These events are the only form of feeding he does. As for cleaning and other maintenance, in one episode, he outlined how he cleans the glass and in the episode he added the water creatures he outlined what water maintenance he would be doing, which basically amounts to infrequent water changes and nothing else. This being an ecosystem, the creatures in pantdora take care of themselves as they would in nature.
„Mighty Marauders“, is how my 6 year old wants to call the marauder colony. She was never a fan of the Black Hoarde.:) We watch this like a soap opera, just with real cool characters. 😊 Thank you for this beautiful peak into nature.
@@RixFixIt SerpaDesign. He focuses mainly on miniscaping. A lot of moss is involved. He does also bigger projects. But the first one, and I just reminded myself of him and how big of an impact he had on me at the beginning, was Green Machine, but this one is less of a yt creator and more tutorialist. His name is John but you will figure it out from his videos :). Non of them create stories and characters like AntCanada, though. I checked a lot of other creators - typing vivarium how to in yt uncovers hundreds of creators from all of the globe - but did not find anyone who matches AntCanada with his personification of nature.
This series is flat out amazing. The fact I fully belive you film, write, and edit all your own material to such a amazing production level and share this all with the world is beyond amazing. You tell interesting stories, educational information, and amazing film shots of nature in all it's glory. THANK YOU!
I love the fantastical elements you add to this story with narration but also just pop up on their own. An alien empire banished to another dimension, a creepy-mother-spider-goddess, intelligent plants and a mysterious caretaker being(you.) Its so cool and truly incredible what Pantdora has become and its still developing.
Good morning from Oklahoma!❤️ I love the episode🥰 and hallelujah that you are getting rid of the crazy black ants🎶🎶🎶 And since I am 100% blind I really enjoy how you describe everything… Thank you for that! I know I told you this once before but I want to say it again thank you for your shows and how you describe everything❣️❣️❣️ it makes it really enjoyable for blind people like me… thank you so much…🥰
i don't see how any one could be happy for him killing the black crazy ants. i mean ya they are invasive but the whole point of the project was to let nature take it course as thats what would happen in the wild
Those invacive black crazy ants were imported by accident. Same goes for fire ants. On the other hand; I was also 26:13 wondering how the leftover black crazy ant base would have played out if it wasn’t vacumed as they had already been weakened.
This is the most beautiful project you’ve endeavoured so far, I’m as addicted to this series as I was when I first discovered planet earth by David Attenborough. The way you educate us viewers while showing these beautiful creatures in their natural habitats is absolutely amazing. I hate to think of this series ever coming to an end but am so thankful you brought us along for the journey so far. I have so much appreciation for the time and effort you spend on these tiny life forms and I’m sure everyone watching does as well
What a lovely update! The evolution of Pantdora's ecosystem is a huge joy to watch. We spend so much time in the life sciences looking through a macro lens at a whole ocean, forest, jungle, mountain range and its interconnected food web from a distance. But there is so much to also be learned through a far smaller lens. It's at the level you're operating that many discoveries can be made. And I love seeing that!
AntsCanada is one of the people keeping RU-vid alive. AC, you are one of the people whose videos bring me joy and help me understand more about nature. Continue making great videos.
Plants communicating has intrigued me the last year as I've been observing the trees and plants in my yard avoid each other without touching.. and only way I can explain it is through some kind of electronic or static field because they never grow close enough to physically contact. So this is really great to hear and confirm. Thankyou
I never liked insects but this is so fascinating! I just turned 33, and now this spring I'll be paying more attention to the small life around me and in the garden. All because I found this channel and every episode I'm learning something.
Ok, the only thing that makes me scream in frustration when watching a new episode, is when they end!!!!!! Now I have to wait for a whole WEEK before I can watch the next one! God damn it!!!!😂😂😂. I still very firmly believe that you should actually have your own show on T.V Mikey. You do such a professional job with your videos, from the lighting, music and camera work all the way to your fantastic scripts. There are people at the big name satellite channels who could learn a thing or five from watching your incredible work! I am also aware that it is clearly, very much a team effort, so kudos to the team members that we don't see or hear, they deserve a great deal of praise too. I am so damn glad I found this channel nearly 4 years ago, it has been the highlight of my week since then! Ant love forever Mikey, Team and Friends!❤❤❤
I seriously laughed seeing the huntsman container covered in the cheesecloth at the end. 😂😂 I bred jumping spiders and I know just how hard it is to keep spider slings!! My very first time I thought the mesh I used was good enough- I was wrong. My spider was beside my bed and I woke up to my girlfriend saying "hun, there's spiders all over" 😂😂
@@ZaZaZadAr I had arachbophobia too, and still do for most spiders... but have learned to tolerate them. Jumping spiders however are different... you'd have to give one a chance and spend some time with it to understand what I mean. I started with other insects and then started watching tarantula channels like the dark den.. then one time they uploaded one with a jumping spider and I could see how cute it was and how curious and intelligent it was. So then I caught a jumping spider that was in my room and decided to keep it, and yeah they're just different.. They have 2 focal eyes and have very good vision, but the 2 big eyes gives them a more mammalian look to them which makes it naturally easier for us to connect with them and find them cute. Beyond that though, their behavior is cute because of how intelligent they are. They are actually the most intelligent of any invert with a species in southeast Asia being group studied to have a problem solving rate of 80% success after only 1 failure. Some have said they can even teach them tricks like shake a paw and lay down, which I believe is probably more of a coincidental response then an actual learned thing.. but still they are highly intelligent. If you see one just interact with it, often times you will see them lifting their bodies to look around and they'll be looking right at you looking at them..
I truly loved the time-lapse you did for the Green Reaper. You have been absolutely killing it with the Pandora series. I simply can not get enough of this content! 😍
Hello 👋 to our new friend, DaVultureTTG! Welcome 🤗 to the AC family! Created by our fearless leader Mikey Bustos! An extraordinary man of many talents! ( warning, this may become a lifelong obsession! ) Fran, Staten Island, NY 😊
Mikey I know I said this before and I'm sure you get it a lot. But your Vivarium you have here is truly impressive. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all.
Ive said it once and I'll say it again the best channel on RU-vid, I don't care who you are or what you do or like everyone is fascinated watching nature like this.
I wish more people had this kind of reverence for nature. Like the narrator, I find all of this biodiversity both fascinating and beautiful. I'm so glad that all of these lifeforms have a good home.
Suggestion! Try putting Flower pot snakes (Indotyphlops braminus) or Common worm snakes (Calamaria gervaisii) for population control of other critters. They mainly eat insects and worms and they grow less than a foot in length. Both species are local in the Philippines and could be collected outdoors.
bro ive been watching your videos for my whole childhood and im still watching into my teenage years! thank you for all the memorys and this awesome adventure into this Vivarium Pantdora!
I can't get enough of Pantdora. I don't think I'll ever get bored of Pantdora, truly a highlight and something to look forward to every week for me. Now for my contribution to the brainstorm of naming ideas for the marauders... how about... The GiANTS !!!! ( :
These videos are my childhood brought back!!! It’s like live new episodes of all the epic nature documentaries I watched as a little boy. Love your work!
This is quite literally one of the very few things i watch on my free time. Please continue your work for it brings much joy to others. Its truly a gift that needs to be shared.
Mushroom identification requires a picture of the gills/underside and a good shot of its stipe (stem). Will happily try to ID properly for you. At first glance it resembles the Plums and Custard mushroom, Tricholomopsis rutilans. But i need better pics to be certain. Fantastic job as always, love every moment.
I do not think it is Tricholomopsis rutilans, personally I would lean more to Gymnopilus luteofolius given the growth directly from the tree stump, which would only make sense for T. rutilans if it were conifer and not hardwood and more notably decayed than it is now. Not only that, but T. rutilans has a bare stipe while this one has a ring that would be more consistent with G. luteofolius considering the rest of its features and ecology.
@@fungoidal yeah I agree, I really couldn't make out the stipe, I said at first glance, I wasn't making a solid identification. Needed better pics for that.
I've already watched this a few times today. This is easily my favorite on going series right now and I'm looking forward to years if not decades of history to unfold. :)
Enjoy is an understatement. I have loved it. It is fun and beyond educational. Beautiful cinematography, story telling. I get very excited when I see a new video up. @@AntsCanada
I'm so excited to see some fungi finally. Also, those spiderlings are freaking adorable. Can't wait to see them spread throughout the lands. As always thank you so much for this series and all the work involved behind the scenes, it's amazing.
Interesting mushroom in Pandora! It resembles species from the Pluteus or Gymnopilus genera, judging by its cap color and growth on wood. The stem details are hard to make out in the shots, but they could be crucial for identification. For the health of your ecosystem, it'd be good to check the spore print color, gill attachment, and any bruising reactions. As I'm not an expert and used AI for guidance, consulting a mycologist could ensure it's a safe addition to your vivarium.
Agreed, 100% check with a mycologist. If it wasn't a flat topped mushroom with a thin look stem from the looks and just based on the color I would have thought it was a brown cap mushroom, which is rather common, not all that dangerous in the ecosystems they exist in, not sure if humans can eat those though and personally wouldn't recommend it as I'm not a big mushroom eater. However to be sure I'd try to gather either a better look at the mushroom's stem (how's it's connected, the underside, that type of thing) or try to collect a sample of it for identification by a mycologist, both would be best though. Good call on consulting a mycologist, they are very helpful if you are not sure about a mushroom you have growing somewhere.
This series is flat out amazing. The fact I fully belive you film, write, and edit all your own material to such a amazing production level and share this all with the world is beyond amazing. You tell interesting stories, educational information, and amazing film shots of nature in all it's glory. THANK YOU!
This has been an Epic series and I've been loving each and every new episode. The marauders really held in there against the forces of darkness so I vote for the "Stout Legion" 👍🏻👍🏻
Holy mackeral! Im sooo hooked on this series! That icky land planaria literally made me shudder. And the amazing transformation of Green Reaper, and her beautiful new wings, was sooo cool! ❤ This really is the most engrossing nature program I've ever seen. It's like meerkat manor on a micro scale. The tiny size of these creatures, and the huge size of this vivarium, means there's a lot going on. And each creature is fascinating in it's own right. Watching them interact is essentially like having a spy living in the rain forest, reporting on all the gossip. ❤ And then at the end, you casually toss in 400 HUNTSMEN!?!? FOUR HUNDRED?!?!?!? A week later you're going to sadly announce that they've eaten EVERYTHING?! 😮😢😂
I wondered about that. It seemed reckless! But maybe they are so small they will mostly get eaten themselves. I await the next episode with bated breath!
I started watching your videos with my son long before this rainforest, we loved it before, but this is incredible. I honestly hope you keep growing and expanding on this. Anyone can tell from a single video that you have a deep love and respect for what you do. It's infectious in the best way. Now I watch your videos with my young daughter and she wants nothing more then to set up her own vivarium. You are having a real impact, and it's so great for younger generations. Much love and respect, from a random Floridian.
I just found your channel today! OMG!! I LOVE THIS!! You should set up digital micro cameras all over that 1000 gal tank!! that is so awsome! You inspire me to grow mushrooms in an electric field in the yard! Respect to the renaissance man Ants Canada and the A.C senate!
Yea that was fascinating! Not sure if it works this way, but do you know if the queen ant has like trusted guards that would accompany her during such a migration? Or is it like just a few random ants that accompany her when she decides to make a move?
some people call this "playing god" but that's so harsh. it's just a large, semi-controlled petri dish of sorts that we all can enjoy. thank you antscanada
