Am I the only one who finds this story hilarious? I hate to say it, but I am a huge fan of this fictitious team now. The fact that they basically punked ESPN shows how little this sports network actually knows about sports.
Punked is the right word. These stories keep saying the other production company sets up these games. But didn't anybody look at the name and notice that it's obviously made up? What's a Bishop Sycamore? I guess that as long as the ad dollars keep flowing in, it's all good.
@frank vigliotti hahah life is short, stop being so miserable. If you're that mean on the internet it just shines a light on how unhappy you are with your existence
I remember when I walked away from high school football 20 years ago, went on to play some juco and semi pro ball and i always thought man i will never get those Friday Night Lights back. Been retired from football since 2007 but now at almost 40 years of age and completely out of shape i can still play high school football for Bishop Sycamore
Where’s you play semi at and for? I was in NM played for Soldiers and no didn’t win a ring. By the time I had figured how this was working post career it was too late to join a winning team. Bounced around and made arena on and off redshirt.
Honestly there were a couple kids on my high school team that came to practice after getting out of jail. So that’s not even the craziest part of the whole story 😂
"Yeah, uh, we're gonna do our practicing sessions right outside the apartment complex, guys.".....should have been enough of a clue to get the hell out!
There will never be a more appropriate time to say this... "Can someone please get Ja Rule on the phone, so that he can make some sense of this!?" 🤦🏾♂️
I find this hard to watch. I work in sports publishing and have been curious about the whole "finishing school" thing, like IMG, Prolific Prep, Sunrise Christian, La Lumiere, etc., etc., whether it's football or basketball. It always stunk to high heaven but I have never seen an in-depth investigation of these places -- Who funds them? Who recruits the kids? What are the academics like? Who owns the extensive expensive land that IMG is on in Bradenton? That place looks like a fortress, or at least it did in April. I wanted a tour but no one would return my calls. So to see "Bishop Sycamore" in the game, you gotta wonder what the fraud level is in the whole concept of "sports finishing schools," aka minor leagues for guys who want to make a living in pro sports. Do these guys finish their education? If they come from poor inner-city backgrounds, who is paying the freight for them? There are a million questions, but the BS situation just makes you sick. Even more sickening is knowing that grown, supposedly responsible adults are a party to the whole thing.
This is like the movie "Accepted" just making up a school and pretending like it's legitimate without any funding, leadership or credentials for any of the staff.
I heard the full unedited press interview with the Bishop Sycamore administrator and coach posted by 419 Football on RU-vid. It was shocking to hear their denials and excuses. I can see why some people call the school "leaders" fast-talking con men.
There is no way this man Doesn’t get arrested or face some sort of Jail Time or Fines. But the Homeless Man Getting whooped for breaking into a car is Justifiable🤷🏾♂️.
News up here just said yesterday that the team bounced a check in Canton for a bunch of money for housing for this game. It keeps getting crazier. I know Canton Police and the governor are now involved. Great video man. Loon into these new claims. About to get real up here. Great video👍
I remember seeing some of this game live and thinking "How in the hell did this team get on tv?" before turning the channel and never thinking of it again
A team made up of 19-20- year-old postgraduates? Did they not think something was odd about their situation when they played high school teams? I guess I’m a little confused about this story. The players would be at fault, too, if they were that old and knowingly playing high school teams.
Because they thought it was like a prep school, an extra year of highschool and playing highschool sports to get noticed by scouts but can still take college classes, in which you would be playing highschool teams, it’s normal.
I actually knew the qb he went to my high school he was told they were gonna be a post grad school or a prep school until it was to late he couldn’t do anything
@@mid2326 I thought it sounded like a fake JUCO team. Are they collecting money from players, donations, and/or just selling game appearances to larger HS teams?
@@1SCme collecting money from everything one of the players went to Curley highschool to a lot of there players were seniors or players 1 year after graduating
they said the bishop sycamore players were like juco dropouts and shit but they legit looked like 14-15 year olds playing grown adults not even from a skills standpoint just from the size difference
That part is getting blown out of proportion lol, the majority of the team were 16-18 years old. Like this video mentioned, only like 4 or 5 players were actually 20, 21 years with kids of their own lol
this whole story blows my mind and what makes it even more funny is my highschool was supposed to play them in 2020 but they backed out because their players got covid
I honestly feel so bad for these poor kids. I think Roy thought he could beat high school kids. But you can tell even if u don't know about football that bishop football team had terrible technical.
@@scraplifetrashtocash4551 Mater Dei is exactly like IMG. A "finishing" school, IE semi-pro athletes. And IMG typically beats the piss out of Mater Dei.
Don’t feel sorry for none of them, they all knew something was wrong but thought it was cool not going to school, plus the parents should have done better as well they all deserve the smoke
Exactly, I don't know why people are saying they feel for the kids when they're 20+ years old they knew what it was hittin for , and yes the parents should of done more research before letting this monster run shit
Still can’t believe this happened literally not even 2 minutes away from me. I live off 38th street in canton, I can damn near see McKinney highschool from my apartment. All I gotta do I go down Harrison ave and I’m at fawcett stadium (know it’s tom bensons stadium now, but I been here my entire life. Feels weird calling it anything else. Just like jacobs field when it changed to progressive stadium)
And yet ESPN is so much of a joke they televise this “team” with absolutely no background or homework on the team or coach. Everything wrong with media these days
Wait, so some of these "kids" were 20 and 21 years old? And they still lost 58-0? So IMG had 17 and 18 year olds, beating 20 and 21 year olds. Wow. Also, I have no problem with the beatdown of the homeless guy, if he was trying to break into anyone's car. Didn't even have to be coach Roy's car. Just because you're homeless doesn't give you a free pass to break into people's cars and houses and such. Epic beatdown justified.
No one I know in Columbus has even heard of Bishop Sycamore. I don't know how they made it to ESPN. There are plenty of legit talented H.S. football teams in Ohio that should have played on ESPN instead of B.S.
Apparently these "elite athletic" schools like IMG have a hard time finding opponents. I believe IMG original opponent backed out, so IMG had to find a team at the last minute and that third-party company that finds teams for ESPN to air on TV, they asked 200 schools to fill in against IMG and Sycamore was the only school to say yes as long as IMG paid their travel expenses, that the head coach allegedly pocketed for himself lol
This is a crazy ass story. Like where are the parents where is the accountability of the other schools. Like this is crazy how do you schedule all this shit without paperwork. I’d love to know how this shit came together
-I’m still Confused(not really) if “IMG” is a High School or a two-year JUCO College‼️ -B/c Everything I’m Seeing & Hearing about this IMG Program is what JUCO Players go through across this Country Every Semester(I use to be One☝️ of them back when).
This kid is breaking all high school records , college scouts are all over him . O shit he,s 30 years old playing against high schoolers . It’s ok we can’t find his birth certificate. Nothen but a hustle
that’s just prep school. my prep school went through the same thing. evicted from housing because coach wasn’t paying bills, barely eating, going days without practice, sharing uniforms and equipment, no trainers and playing through injuries. thats how most prep schools be, bishop sycamore got clout bc of img lol
