This is the best episode of the series. Mehboob has so much emotion about the songs even today, and that showed in the quality of writing and music. These songs sound so fresh and relevant even today. Wonderful job on the interview!

By far the last two episodes of Mehboob have been THE BEST ! Mehboob speaks from his heart and is very articulate about his art. The subtitling work of this episode number 13 is excellent. It is not easy to translate a good urdu+hindi speech that too of an ace lyricist like Mehboob into English. Super job Umesh ji ! The length of episode close to 15 minutes is perfect !

ONLY 90s KIDS WILL UNDERSTAND!!!!!TIMELESS ALBUM. STILL HAVE CASSETTE BOUGHT WITH MY POCKET MONEY My childhood is attached with this album. "Chanda sooraj" song maine gaaya tha when i was 10th standard. Which gave me hope that I can perform well other than studies, everyone appreciated my effort. My classmates recognizes me because of this song. Tune exist in Tamil film of early 90s composed by AR. Thank you for bringing my childhood back. Much love and respect. Well Done guys

Even now ..This is my go to song to listen to when landing at chennai airport post abroad trips (Also the tamil counterpart Thaai manne vanakkam ) Unforgettable memories I have as a school going boy with my mom driving the maruti 800 and we listening to this film in full volume. Mehboob Saab took me straight back to 1997. All glory to Rahman sir and his music.

sir you made my eyes wet- aapne meri aankhein num kar dee bhai- main bhi ek adna sa shayar hoon jo 3 alag alag zubaanon mein likhta hoon tamil jo mere subaayi bhasha hai aur urdu jo meri maadri zubaan hai aur english jo hamaari taaleemi bhasha hai. magar kabhi as a professional nahi bus shaukhiya likhta hoon aur jab bhi madh'u kiya jaata hoon toh sunaata hoon. jab koyi ahsaar likh raha hota hai kalaam likh raha hota hai toh uske taqayyul aur jazbaat aur ehsaasaat mein ek tarah ka talaatum hota hai tazabzub hota hai kyun shayari sirf hurf ki bandish aur alfaaz ko behr mein baandhna aur uske wazn khaafiye aur radheef par dhyaan dena hi nahi hota, kabhi kabhi mahine lag jaate hain aur kabhi 10-20 minute mein bhi hojaata hai bade se bada kalaam bhi woh chahe mazhabi kalaam ho ya phir koyi aur kalaam. mere taraf se dili mubarakbaad aur shukriya ke aapne ek itna behtareen kalaam likha aur jo shayad aap ke hazaaron gaanon par bhaari hai bhale koyi aapke kisi bhi gaane ko bhool jaye magar is gaane ne aap ko paayinda kar diya aur khaas kar aap jab jab bhi mere shehar madras / chennai ka naam lete toh ek alag sa fakhr ka ehsaas hone lagta tha aur hamesha rahega.

Vande mataram is like alternative National anthem. This guy talks about himself only and treats AR like some boy. Lyrics is important but it only does not create a hit song. Great directors like Maniratnam appreciate AR's geniuses, this guy claims all success to himself.

I think Mehboob is being so honest of his experience, brilliant original work and in so many places (as pointed above) shows his appreciation of ARR and their collaboration beyond music, patriotism and culture.

Seriously its sounds like a fucked up episode. When they interview Tamil people in previous episode's, they use English. But when interview northern chaps, they speak Hindi? Double standard producer / director? This is why AR Rahman went up to speak in Tamil during the Oscars ceremony.
