This is how the Mini Rose Garden started.
{Please turn on subtitles.}
First, it was an wide and empty space... full of potential? For what though?
Vision - that was the hardest job. What to plant? Where to set up the garden? Where do I begin?
When we bought our property, one of our must haves is a big yard that can accommodate a garden. With help from our family, we were able to get such a home. Then it took many years for us to finally get in there and set up a garden.
Our first plantings were: a cherry tree and two pear trees. Sadly, the pear trees did not make it. The cherry tree though is a thriving big tree now that is quite generous with flowers in the spring and delicious fruit in the summer.
Years after that, we started digging the backyard for a vegetable garden. But the pro's that we are (pro-crastinators), we carried on that job to the next year, then the year after that. Until finally, the weeds have taken over and the plot is not too hard to cultivate by hand. Also came a difficult year for the world. But distressing times can present unexpected opportunities. The time it gave us allowed for us to revisit our vision of the garden and to start digging again. But where do we start? The weeds are overgrown, they are quite pretty actually. The full grown dandelions give such beautiful blooms and seed. Yarrows spread an array of yellow flowers. Daisies pepper the plot as well as purple clovers. We had an accidental meadow for a while.
The beautiful meadow is hard to remove but my heart is also set on a vegetable garden. Finally, we decided to hire a man and his tiller. It was wonderful! The garden is finally dug, I can get started with the garden. Then I shopped for plants...
In the process of shopping for plants, vegetables are on the top of the list of course followed by helpful flowers, I came across roses! Many Roses! Then a vision sparked, a mini rose garden in the middle of the vegetable garden...
And there it is... this video is about the digging part, more videos will come as to the roses and the planting. I hope you stay tuned in for that. Maybe you'd consider subscribing? I thank you so much for your support. It is much more fun to do this with others who appreciate the garden. To share the garden with others increases its beauty and the joy it gives.
