I think Tatum felt the pressure but Wiggins defense on him was exceptional as well. Overall, players do need to realize that it is not just a matter of shooting 3s. I am going to say he would perform better if he just get open and shoot 3s. Because the thing is he couldn't post up Wiggins or GP2 one on one, who were the primary defenders on him. It was clear after game 3 they had no clue what to do. Even if they took the lead, they’d lose it real quick to horrible shot selections and turnovers. Let’s not make Wiggins to be a Kawhi Leonard here folks. Tatum is just a wuss with no athleticism or alpha mentality to impose his will when confronted with length and better athleticism than him. Simple as that. You can’t brush Brown with the same paint. Their IQs and lack of elite ball handling might be similar but Brown has that great athleticism and will power to overcome what he lacks in handles and IQ. Tatum just lacks athleticism and alpha mentality. You can’t develop that in the gym. You can improve your skill but not athletic ability and most importantly laid back mental game when the chips are down. Kawhi would have absolutely bodied punked and broke Andre Wiggins’ chest and would never allow him to stare him down.

I agree 100% with Smith on his take about Tatum... those convoluted circus shots jumping from the 3-point line (take off) limiting his options because eventually he will land (hang-time) thus opting for a pass at the last moment to avoid a travel in the process creating a turnover instead of going for a calculated layup (as Curry did in all of the Finals hen going to the paint) or the even more effective dunk (especially on trash talkers or good defenders [Green]) to demoralize the defender and the opposing team with AND1... but no, he chose to drive to the basket without passion or creativity. Brown, even though he has the same problems sometimes (poor shot selection), at least you can see that Brown has a purpose and goes with authority when he attacks the paint.

Oh, and by the way Boston had good defenders too. When an NBA Superstar impose his will there is no defense that can contain him. That is why Stephen A. Smith, other analyst, former NBA players, some fans and Me (why I agree with this video) wanted Tatum to impose his will like Curry did and like the "Superstar" he is(?) by doing more to help his team, like what I think he should be doing, when he is softly attacking the paint instead of dunking over people (like my example {which he has done to pretty darn good defenders. Like during Game 7 of the 2018 Eastern Conference finals LeBron James and on Giannis Antetokounmpo in game 3 this year} especially if Jayson is a Kobe protégé) which Jaylen (his teammate), who does not have the same title "Superstar" as Tatum nor people/media said Boston is his team (what comes with that accolade), Brown did a better job thus why at this moment Tatum is not a Superstar... until he improves and earn the title of Superstar.

Shaq choked? Thats a first and tatum issue all playoffs long has been turnovers, the celtics issue as a whole on offense is that they settle for too many 3s and dumb shots, the roster needs tweaking but they are scared to put Marcus smart back at the 2 and slide brown and tatum to the 3 and 4. If he's worn out before the finals even started he better get his conditioning up of he wants to make deep playoffs runs, the fatigue excuse doesn't fly with me. I blame the Celtics organization for trying to turn Tatum into a point guard. They changed who he is as a player. Now I always thought Tatum had flaws in his offense when a bigger defender is guarding him and thought Wiggins would do well against him since he has the length to disrupt his shot. If you ever watch big scoring games with Tatum, example Bucks, he has switches where he is matched up with a undersized/shorter player. In the Bucks 43 point game, Bud had Grayson Allen, George Hill, and Jrue guarding him during that outburst when it should have been Portis or Giannis. Now to my critique of the Celtics. In the off season, I said the Celtics would go to another level if they did everything possible to get Lonzo Ball. I thought he was a perfect fit for the Celtics because both Tatum and Brown are great defensive players and with Williams now playing elite, it would have been off the chart defensively. I think Zo would have unleashed a phase of Tatum's game that has never been seen. Tatum and Brown should be in the open court running and gunning. I didn't want Zo on the Bulls because I saw him getting hurt covering too many players defensively. The Bulls are weaker defensively. Unless Patrick Williams turn into Kawhi 2.0, Zo will never be healthy. He needs a team that is already set defensively, which is the Boston Celtics.

I remember when LeBron got out scored by Jason freaking Terry for the entire 2011 finals, but as soon as he wins a chip, everyone hops right back on the bandwagon. Sadly, that’s just how most fans are, everything is “legacy-defining”. If you listen to social media, you’ll get the impression that players aren’t allowed to have growing pains (like most humans), they either play perfect or their trash. Tatum had a bad series, but that doesn’t mean he’s “trash” and “overrated”. All the greats have struggled, none of them have had it perfect for the entirety of their careers. Tatum, at age 24, has already been to 3 conference finals and an NBA finals, I have no doubt in my mind that he’s going to get better and eventually get over the hump and win the chip.

It saddens me when the focus is on failure of one player in a sport that is so dependent on what the whole team brings to the game. It wasn't Tatum's fault the Celtic failed. The Celtics, despite the athleticism of players don't have the skill and basketball IQ to beat a team as talented and well coached as the Warriors. The Warriors under Kerr built this juggernaut seven years ago and have been refining it ever since. Players are skilled but they also know every scheme, every move on the floor. These are smart players willing to sacrifice for the good of the team. The Celtics don't have what is needed at the moment to compete. Tatum played all those minutes simply because the Celtics don't have enough players who can be relied upon to keep games close. Hopefully, they will continue building this team. The Warriors, in the meantime are only going to get better. As a fan, I'm thrilled by that.

A good player but He doesn’t have that “Dawg” in him. W/that said I think he may not even be the best on his own team-Ppl dismiss Brown, at least he ATTACKS the basket & doesn’t settle for ill advised shots, letting PGs guard him

Definitely does he just had a bad series. I bet you was saying he had that dawg when he dropped 46 vs bucks. I get he had a bad series but let’s not let recency bias take over.
@ShadomanG
@ShadomanG Год назад
@@misterpurp777 Was Never saying or thinking that. The point is you can’t afford to have a bad SERIES at the highest stage. Bad game(s) happen but not an entire series when needed most. I equate him to my Guy D. Book-From PHX & unfortunately we fell short last year when it counted as well as this year-but if you want to be a BIG Dawg, a CHAMPION than you have to handle your business. Im sure he’ll grow from it-nowhere did I say this is it for him. I’m just being critical here ^ it’s not personal therefore, your condescending comment holds little merit. Disappointed in Tatum. This was his chance to take over and join the ranks of NBA superstardom. We're talking about future GOAT level. Massive underperform. You don't know if Celtics will ever get back to that spot with Tatum+Brown. A lot went right for them... Brooklyn missed Ben, Bucks missed Middleton, and Heat were so close to beating them. Once you get there, you gotta take advantage of it and for seven straight games, Tatum was horrible.

I'd trade Tatum for PG13 tbh. The team is good enough to make it to the Finals. Tatum wasn't an MVP candidate and I can't say for sure that he's better than PG13. PG is more of a dog than JT imo

I think Boston players are drained physically going into the finals after playing 2 7 games series against Bucks and Miami. They just don't have the energy to play defense and offense. But Warriors deserve credit for how they limited them defensicely and offensively under 100 in 4 games.
@Ispeakthetruthify
@Ispeakthetruthify Год назад
"Drained"??? You have to be kidding me. Before the Finals, the idiotic talking heads were saying that Boston was too young, and too strong for Golden State. And that Golden State was old and tired. Now that Boston has been smacked down....they're "drained" and "tired". Get out of here with those lame excuses. And in today's NBA Finals, players have PLENTY of time to rest between games. And Boston was the younger team.

I knew Tatum wasn't gonna play the same after he won the CF MVP. It changes some players' mindsets. Tatum got done like he did to KD in the first round. Tatum is a silent killer the Kid will bounce back but this was a chance for him to be the face of the league and start to carry the torch
