Wow. So much that I've been through that I've blamed my parents for many things that this sermon spoke volumes to me. In turn I've became a horrible parent to my own children. People had told me I carried to much pride that I couldn't even fathom of what they meant. I prayed for God to show me what was wrong in my life that I opened the Bible to see what this chapter was all about. Talk about a wake up call. Thank you father God for showing me how much pride I carry with me on a daily basis. Please forgive me of my pride and showing me what I must do to prevent me from become worse than I already am. Amen.
DAVID IS TAKING ME THROUGH SO MANY CHANGES. HE IS REMINDING ME NOW OF THE HIGH PRIEST WITH THE TWO SONS WHO GOD TOOK. BUT THE LESSONS HERE ARE PHENOMINAL. THANK YOU. NO BITTER ROOT.
I love it when pastor Paul said "kids will say you did it" this is so true and pastor Paul explanation is exactly how I answered back" it doesn't make it right"❤️
Ps. Paul, such hard truths but we need truth no matter how painful it is to look in that mirror of God's Word. I am so glad I came looking through the channel and found what I (me!) needed this morning. Thank you for this teaching.
One of the best sermons I have ever heard. How easy it is to gloss over some scriptures and not see the truth that is being revealed in them, particularly King David's story and his own actions and as a result led to very bad parenting. I have one caveat to my comment, yes, we too have done wrong and the message of the cross is one of forgiveness. But there is also repentance and much healing that comes from it when hearing from the person who committed a great offense against another and acknowledging that offense where true forgiveness can really take root as opposed to a root of bitterness. The cross does not give latitude for sweeping offenses under a rug. It is where we acknowledge that we are sinners and repent where Jesus will be faithful to forgive us those sins. Consider being in court before a judge and you are about to be sentenced. A true Mia-culpa and a showing of great remorse before a judge can give great sway during sentencing. Esau sought repentance and could not find it though he sought for it with many tears.
This is excellent. Thank you for speaking boldly about this challenging chapter. I loved the part where you said that people need to crucify their flesh instead of giving into temptation. There are so many lessons to learn from the life of King David. We need to repent of our misdeeds and expect better from our children. Blessings!
Thank you for this word!!! I was thinking the same regarding David, Absalom and Tamar. David threw his daughter under the bus to preserve the throne. If he had punished Amnon accordingly, the next son in line could have been king. He added insult to injury, when he totally neglected to discipline Amnon, imagine how Tamar felt 😥😥 she was ruined for the rest of her life. David must have known the temperament and character of his children, YET he failed to parent them.. I think Absalom could have protected her too, Amnon openly lusted after her. David knew Amnon's request was off putting YET he brushed it aside. In this family the brothers weren't effective protectors of their sister. Indeed if we allow it BITTERNESS will ruin our lives
Welcome Surabhi Ma! The Lord did the same for me! God lead me to Pastor Paul LeBoutillier in 2018! He helped me through a really tough time in my life! With his help (& the help of Pastor Rich Chaffin- Calvary Chapel Laguana Creek, in Elk Grove, CA), I was able to read the entire Bible in two years for the first time! Thank you God/Jesus/Holy Spirit and Pastors!🤗🙏➕
We Christians ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit forever and ever amen We are trying to be patiently waiting for Your return to cleanse this Earth of sin
Thank you. Yes, this story is angering, and your explanation is strangely comforting. I myself got out of a relationship with someone with similar crooked thinking as Amnon, and am still needing to choose to forgive him, and forgive myself. But we don't forget, right? If we did, there would be no need for these stories. I am learning to keep giving it to God, letting Him lead me from here, and let my response to this be glorifying to Him. That song My Story Your Glory by Matthew West is extra encouragement
A great confrontation of today's "excuses" behavior society. We need to have our sins layed out before us in order to repent. And for some, that means being made very uncomfortable.
I love Pastor Paul's sermons. To me this story paints a different picture. David represents grace and mercy in this story. Absalom's PRIDE and lack of forgiveness demands Justice. He convinces deceives 1/3 of the kingdom to follow him because there is no Justice. Grace and mercy vs Justice. His PRIDE is his downfall and is hung on a tree by it. Do we want justice or grace and mercy?
🙏🏼.... funny u say that, i always say the same thing. I wish i didnt had to explain these chapters either. 😞. Its weird to me David didn’t pray to God to what he should do with Amnon like he would always pray asking God how to address situations.
I have seen how someone's being alcoholic can affect his or her own children...His own children may more likely copy the behavior of their own father. In addition, someone's being narcisissistic can affect the mental health of his or her own children.I feel like narcissists can be products of parental abandonment and poor parenting.
