Pastor Skip very much hit the Nail on the Head at the end when discussing how as a radiologist and pastor he observed how bedside visits to a family member at their earthly end can be filled with regrets because one person won’t be bigger and take a step to reconcile when deep down they want that more than to continue bickering. Well said and likely from a wealth of experience. Let us remember what a flash we are here for. As a wordsmith, perhaps his metaphors can use more study. King Saul might be many things, but tumbleweed???? His story has lasted as Great lessons for thousands of years because it is much more than something fleeting.

David was like a oak tree that fell over but kept growing. Many fallen trees live, then the branches become new small trunks.

Why didn't Absalom go and defend his sister at Amnon's knowing what an overpowering scoundrel he was?

Was it Biblically right for Absolom to murder Amnon for raping his sister? It's not clear if Deuteronomy 22:23-29 covers this situation. Nevertheless, the 6th commandment forbids the individual from taking justice into his own hands. But then David took no action either. So how was Tamar supposed to find justice? But then God allowed Absolom to kill Amnon later anyway as part of the curse He put on David's family. Because God is sovereign, one must conclude that any event that occurs in the entire universe only occurs because God either intended it to occur or permitted it to occur. Even the existence of satan. Oh Lord, only thou knowest.
