Tip as this is what works for me: Keep your hand straight, don't twist it. It is like a handshake. Next, normally strive for 3 steps before releasing the ball, although this is not required as some people take 5 steps or 4. Next, reach out, don't just drop the ball right at the line. Also, keep you eye on where you want to hit the entire time until the ball is released. For splits, try to look to see which pin is ahead of the other. Shoot for the side of that pin so that is goes towards the other pin. If neither is ahead of the other, then just shoot for one as its nearly impossible to get that. Also, for the keeping your eye on where you want to hit, you can either keep your eye on the pin, or you can do something called spot bowling. In spot bowling, you need to find out which spot is right for you. Then just keep bowling on that same spot, or you may even need to go in between spots. If you want to get really good like 200-300 range, then you need to learn the curve ball. In curving, you pretty much have to use spot bowling. You can use straight ball and get 200-300 range, but its fairly rare.
