i have a weird problem. my bike idles and reves perfectly when its in neutral but as soon as it get a load it bogs and sputters and only reves to 2k rpm at full throttle
I took my cr80 apart flipped the reed pedals and bam she started right up def have to buy me some new reeds if u do that and it starts up and runs good i would def buy some reeds they dont last long when flipped
u forsure could have just took ur aur box off and ur carb should be able to slide to the side while u change the reeds. ive done em on probably 50 diffrent bikes and only one i had a problem with was fuel injected
I currently have a CR80r Expert that won’t start. It has spark, fuel, air (verified) but it just backfires every 10 kicks or so. It has good feeling compression. Would reeds prevent it from starting all together?
If they were completely in horrible condition yes it would make your bike very difficult to start, it’s not very hard to check them out to check it off your list. Otherwise I’d lean more towards jetting/ carb setting if it has good compression.
My yz125 idles but when I put it into gear I can ride it for 200ft before it’s sputter and stops, could the reed valves be the issue? I just did a carb rebuild and top end rebuild.
If it can sit there and idle fine, test it hold in clutch and put it in gear and don’t ride just let it sit and idle. If it idles good I assume you pilot jet is clean but your main jet could be to small causing it to die. Could also be your reeds always good to check. You could have also messed up tuning with the carburetor somehow? I would go through and check the basics, carburetor tuning, reeds, spark plug, compression, air filter. And just start eliminating things best of luck.
If it doesn’t like to idle but will run on throttle first place I would check is a clogged pilot jet in the carb. Could be a bad mixture or idle adjustment.

@@jacobdurst1348 that was the first day I got it I was scared of the powerband but It just needed to be warmed up, so I just pinned it and it stopped bogging out
My bike is a cr250 it has smooth power starts first kick no bogging or nothing but it seems like it either doesn’t rev out enough to hit the power band or it hits the powerband. I hear it hit the power band but I don’t feel it. I’ve adjusted power valve and everything. Any help?
@@RidingWiithJacob it has a lectron carb and I haven’t pulled the reeds out yet, it sounds like something is chipping away tho when I’m kinda lugging it. Would reeds cause the problem that I’m having?
So I have a ktm 85 and it goes ok but not very power full checked the reeds and I can see a little light could I buy replacement reeds and would that fix the problem
Well if you have spark, good compression, clean well mixed fuel, the only other thing I could suggest is a engine needs: fuel, spark, compression, and air. So with that said I would check air filter isn’t completely clogged and I would definitely look into the carburetor being dirty or not set to the right air fuel ratio. If you haven’t already pull the carburetor and make sure your jets are cleaned and you can see through them. Also make sure your air/fuel screws are set to spec. Good luck hope this helps
@@RidingWiithJacob I have a twostroke 50cc supermoto moped. It starts and then just dies after 3-5 seconds. I have spark, compression, fuel, I have cleaned the carb and the airfilter is new. Can it be the reeds?
@@sadsausage2224 have you messed with the carburetor air fuel screw/ idle screw. It could be your reeds but I would start by adjusting the carb, this could take a lot of tweaking and if you are seeing no results. Then it wouldn’t hurt to inspect reeds, before you replace. By the way sweet bike I’m looking to do that with a 110cc as my next project convert it to supermoto👍🏼
So I bought a cr125r 2 stroke and I rode it for like a day and it bogged out and wouldn’t start and lost compression so I replaced the rings it finally started back up but then did the same thing can someone help I keep spending money on parts I don’t need do y’all know what it can be?
When you replaced rings, did you inspect cylinder for damage or your cylinder head? If it has no compression, your piston is damaged rings aren’t correct, or damage to cylinder causing it not to seal up.
@@RidingWiithJacob yeah it was good because when I replaced the piston it still got compression til this day it just bogged out the second time and won’t start it still got compression tho so I don’t know what it can really be
I think I said that first one wrong lol sorry so what happens is when I first got it I rode it for a day then it bogged out and wouldn’t start and lost all compression so I thought I just blew it up so I replaced the pistons I rode it for like 20 mins then it bogged out again and won’t start but this time it still got compression it just won’t start
I would check the idle / air screw probably too much air. Could also be a intake leak/ make sure air boot is properly tight to the carburetor. Those would be the first things I’d look at.
I got a 97 cr250 only difference is the PJ did a full rebuild to the motor and now it doesn’t want to run, turn the gas on and choke for a little bit and it doesn’t want to start sometimes it does but you give it gas and it dies out, any ideas Idk if the jetting is different or the float needs to be adjusted but any advice would help
@@Sloww_Mk3Supra when this happens on a fresh rebuild I start from scratch, look over every little thing and start checking it off. Start with spark plug make sure it’s in good condition. Clean air filter, boots properly installed/ no air leaks. Go through carb clean jets, set air/ fuel screw back to factory setting. Good luck wish I could help more👍🏼
Can anyone help me fix the problem to my bike 2003 cr85rb, so I start the bike up an it’s a very loud high revving sounding the the throttle cable is stuck so when I put the bike in first gear the bike flys an throws me off idk if it’s the carb or the throttle cable.?

dont do that to people man thats a dirtbag move selling it so its just able to run, wow , you do somthin u get it done right so that person dosent have to mess with it and fix your mistakes
