We continue in our verse by verse Bible study through the Book of 2 Timothy on Sunday Mornings with Pastor Jon Geraci at Calvary South Denver in Littleton CO. This week we look at 2 Timothy 3:1-9 in a sermon called “These Last Days.”
If reading verse 5 is any indication that Paul is referring to the believers then and now, verse 7-8 describes why. Just as people opposed Moses then by people like Jannes and Jambres so were people living around Paul’s time opposing Moses as Christians are today thus they never came to the knowledge of truth. But what is TRUTH? Psalms 119:142 says “Your Law is TRUTH”. Psalms 119:151 says “All Your Commandments are TRUTH”. Psalms 9:160 says “Your TRUTH is the essence of Your Word”. So when Christians oppose Moses, they oppose Moses Laws and commandments which are God’s Laws and commandments fo His people. Thus verses 2-5 is the description of the believers then and now. Christian leaders and denominations all over teach that Moses Laws are done away with nor are only for the Jews , nor make you become under the Law and thus curse. Some even say in their opposition to Moses that ‘Jesus fulfilled them for us so we don’t have to do them!’ Yet all these reasons are misreading from texts and contexts just as now. And yet, Jesus obeyed them Himself and commands everyone to obey them all of them.
