In his message at TGC's 2018 West Coast Conference, Juan Sánchez teaches the importance of discerning false teachers and ungodly influences within the church. He discusses the challenge of discerning between those who are open to repentance and those who are hard-hearted, unrepentant, and opposing the truth. Sánchez encourages pastors to pursue righteousness and patience, cleansing themselves from dishonorable ways through faith in Christ, rather than relying on personal efforts or good works.

Sounds like this Sermon was designed to deal specifically with the Church member they had difficulty with rather than Applying 2 Tim 3 to the World in general...

2 Timothy 3 is, when taking the whole chapter in both its text and context, speaks about ‘avoiding such people’ (v5) who oppose the Old Testament. 1) Verse 14-16 states that Timothy must continue on the things which he has learned in Scripture “since childhood”. This only meant the Old Testament as the New Testament was not canonized until 400 AD. Furthermore, Paul and Peter called Paul’s letters and message as “letters”. Never were his letters referred to as Scriptures. Furthermore, Acts 17:11 states that these noble- minded Bereans examined Paul and Sila’s message against Scriptures. You can’t examine Paul’s message against itself for Paul’s writings were not Scriptures! 2) Verse 16 says “All Scriptures are inspired by God for reproof, restoration and training to righteousness...” This again highlights that from Genesis to Malachi is what the known Scripture referred to here. ‘Training for righteousness, reproof, correction’ refer to actual teachings by God on holy (separate) living separate from the unbelieving. Thus when verses 2-4 were described of those believers in the last days, they were the ones who “has an outward godliness but denying its power” (v5) just as Christians today ‘opposing Moses , opposing the truth, always learning but never able to come to the knowledge of truth’ (v 7-8)!!! Proof? Sure, Hebrews 4:4-11 which says that just as God ceased from His work on the seventh day, the believers are commanded to make every effort to enter the Sabbath-rest. But are Christians obeying it? Of course not. Another proof? Colossians 2:16 says “do not let anyone judge you for matters of drinks, food, New Moon, Feasts, and Sabbaths for the reality is in Christ...” and Christians are not doing any of those Old Testament Laws!!! 3) What is TRUTH? Better yet what is ‘coming to the knowledge of truth’ in verse 7? Jesus says He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. John says that Jesus is the ‘Word that became flesh and dwelt among us’ and yet Christians oppose the TRUTH, oppose the Word, oppose Moses and now oppose Jesus!!! What do I mean? Psalms 119:142 says “Your Law is Truth”. Psalms 119:151 says “All Your Commandments are Truth”. Psalms 119:160 says “Truth is the essence of Your Word”. Furthermore Jesus says in Mattew 23:1-3 “the teachers of the Law and the a pharisees sit in the seat of Moses, therefore do and observe whatever they say you do but not (traditions over His commands)...” So again, 2 Timothy 3 is about avoiding people who oppose Jesus, oppose the truth, oppose the Laws of Moses, oppose the Word, and oppose the Old Testament. But you will say you don’t oppose Jesus or His Word. You might want to re-examine that because Jesus observed all His Laws and Commandments and observed all of them. Thus if christians do not observe all of them, they oppose Jesus and His Word.
