The original ODST was supposed to be a 4 person co-op completely different to the rest of the Halo games and probably pretty similar to Helldivers but with a linear campaign. Microsoft didn't want that, they wanted the same thing that had worked previously.
Reading about the 343 dev coming out and talking about the ODST game that got scrapped by Microsoft, after the success of Helldivers had me in fucking tears. Why do executives have to be running the show? They are all clearly completely devoid of any rational thought...
I think what makes Automatons difficult to deal with than the Terminids is the fact that 1). They can shoot at you, 2). They can shoot at you, 3). THEY CAN SHOOT AT YOU!!!
I’ve been finding myself trying to hit those new flying bugs and all of a sudden I’ll look down and I’m getting pounced on by 6+ hunters simultaneously😂😂
Ppl'll learn. But, if you question it, it means you want to get better for your fellow Helldivers and the Democracy. And, in my book, soldier, that's a hellava Helldiver. For Super Earth!
@@michaelmorrigan614 I see. I beg to differ. Yes they aren't common but I feel like stalkers are more of a problem then hunters. There attacks are damaging and if hit once they retreat to set up another
Those courageous helldivers on malevalon creek are braver than I am, one drop on an automaton planet and I got annihilated. Edit: it took many sleepless nights but we did it helldivers, the creek, HAS BEEN LIBERATED! FOR MANAGED DEMOCRACY!
I dunno, i like bots hands down too. I think people put far too little thought into how they traverse the battlefield and approach the situation. Make use of range, highground, and drop at the right spots makes for an easy sweep rather than just dropping in the middle and just making a load of noise.
@@madmonkeymob34g12 I do fill and even tho I try and ask everyone to go sentry’s a lot of my teammates today have been very adamant on the 500kg and other orbital strikes so after we get about 30 scientists through we get overrun with 10 hulks because my morter and rocket sentry only lasts so long
YES! I listen to Beast in Black when i play Helldivers all the freaking time. For anyone wondering, the first song is Cry Out for a Hero by Beast in Black.
“Warning you are in range of enemy artillery” is a phrase that just instills panic into me as I already called down my support weapons and shield in it haha not making that mistake again.
The creaters of starship troopers have got to be punching the air right about now, knowing they could have made a video game like this, but I guess it was beyond their time with tech/graphics and whatnot.
Apparently they're making a starship troopers game, but without the balance of the two different enemy forces that are wildly different to fight I don't know it'll be as fun.
To be fair, this feels like a mix of Halo and 40k. Like we have these different enemies that are very 40k. Then we have these armor setups that are very halo.
@@radicalgremlin6440except the Automatons are actually the imperium. Dreadnought, commissars, chainswords, overwhelming lasgun fire, and hordes and hordes of em!
Honestly, if it wasn't for Starship Trooper sort of popularizing some of the themes first I doubt there would be as many games and series with the idea of powerarmor and a swarm-like alien enemy with an extreme militaristic/semi Fascist regime at the front of humanity. The power armor of Starship troopers felt s little underwhelming in the movies, but the books it is practically a full suit that probably is more similar to a Space Marine but with a theme more like the ODST/Spartans. Helldivers, though, is way more Starship Trooper esq. A small squad, deployed to a Destroyer, going to a planet to liberate it via dropping down with potential hundreds if not thousands of others in various locations for various missions before being extracted to send back in along with the ads constantly promoting joining the military (in Starship Troopers you only became a citizen after serving in the military so there was a heavy emphasis and ideas of patriotism/pride).
I started on bot planets. I head over to the bug front and there's just... So many bugs... I'll take my odst drops, Thankyaverymuch. And to all you brave folks holding that hoard back with your stalwart dedication to super earth, I salute you.
Honestly, defend personnel is passable given enough AT. If you don’t bring AT ur fucked. Meanwhile, extreme or above on search and destroy or evac for terminid. There’s more chargers and bile titans than meets the eye, and that’s not even the start. The number of last minute desperate evacs against hordes of bugs is almost as many as the times the dropship waves off and leaves us for dead.
This made me realize... Vehicular activity would take this game to another level. Advanced 10ton mechanized powered assault walkers, recon bikes, light hover tank, fast attack aerial support craft, more aerial combatants... I love that this game is so co-op centric with engaging metaprogression with persistent campaigns... They really upped their game since Helldivers 1 and there's no reason to believe they're going to just rest in their laurels either. Once more into the breach, soldier!!! 🎉
@@samlambert4770 Yeah, I looked it up immediately after this conme t and saw there were leaks. I only hope they keep the pressure on and add more than what they did in the first game. I don't like the idea the first game was just a prototype/test, we need more and we need it in this game preferably, even if it takes a while, I'm okay with them balancing their way to galactic "peace".
Songs for helldiver 2 drops in enemy territory: Immigrant song, fortunate son, War pigs, Paranoid, We're not gonna take it, paint it black, Shepard of fire, and Iron Man... just a few favorites. If you'd recommend any other song, please let me know.
Killing in the name of is solid so is bulls on parade. John 3:11-21 ESV [11] Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony. [12] If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? [13] No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. [14] And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, [15] that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. [16] “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. [18] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. [19] And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. [20] For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. [21] But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
I remember my cadet days around the beginning of the war. My squad mate said “hey, I heard the automatons were easier than the bugs.” All 15 of his bodies were never recovered from malevelon creek. That’s the 10 that are given. And just the amount of times I had to wait for him to come back before completing the mission alone.
SAME. I started on the bots because I heard a lot about them, then when I suddenly got dropped on a bug planet I was SO not ready for the endless swarms of bodies.
Thought I was the only one where I had to learn my ABC (Always Behind Cover) for Atomatons, and now I have to learn ABM (Always Be Moving) for Termanids.
@@fizzinsodaTurrets are almost useless on bug planets no matter what the Stratagem screen says, because in just a few seconds it's gonna be annihilated by a charger.
I am the lorax I speak for the trees, and for some fucking reason there speaking binaries, THE LORAX CANNOT BE HARMED IF HE IS ARMED WITH DEMOCRACY'S ARSENAL!!!
At first I didn’t see the hype of this game (last great game I played was Medal of Honor and Modern Warfare 2 (the original one). After that, my love for video games has died down since the last 5+ years. Gave in and bought Helldivers to see what the hype was about and it’s been one of the best new games for me in years. Although i still have no clue what I’m doing but a random inplayed with was patient and helped teach me. Such a great game.
@@Schimml0rdit’s not our fault Europe can’t give themselves a damn break. Literally the center of drama in the world, and you drag everyone else into your stupid wars anyways.
The funniest part is once you hit difficulty 6 or 7 it flips and the bugs throw so much crap at you all at once it makes you wish you were fighting bots instead 💀💀💀
Punisher Plasma takes them out in 3-4 hits, it's on one of the premium warbonds. Seriously, you can hit them anywhere on the body. It's also good at finishing off a Bile Titan you've struck with a railcannon
@@joesphevans7606 Normal punisher kills them with two in the head of you've got aim. Same with the slugger. It's never worth shooting the sack unless you're going in with impact grenades or the GL.
I had a DDay situation one time when dropping in on Malevolent Creek. On start, we kept hearing "Warning, you are in range of enemy artillery" on repeat and me and my teammates kept exploding over and over until we were wiped out.
I started level 1 jumping only into malevelon creek and I sure as hell ain’t stopping now. Those bots must die, and I’ll be the one to do it or die trying
Istg the bugs don't even feel like a fight, it's like going to round 1 in cod zombies with a 3-packed shotgun: you just cut through them. At least the automatons actually shoot back
This is one of my favorite movies ever. Starship troopers is a masterpiece and idc what anyone says. And the fact helldivers is so similar makes my heart grow 2x larger
Pro tip for all the Helldivers who haven’t figured it out yet. You will ALWAYS drop near an enemy patrol. Your difficulty modifier determines how close and large that patrol is. Enemies can also hear your support drops. If you start dropping items immediately, you’ll draw in patrols and get pinned down in seconds. Wait until your squad have reached a safe zone to drop your support weapons.
Dropped into Malevalon Creek a decent number of times now. Each time, we land near a large group of bots, and it's a fight for survival from start to end of mission. I had to fight through hundreds of them just to get to extraction yesterday. Then had to hold out against them after they caught back up to me. Love it.
I actually find automatons easier than termanids. Those grasshopper guys are a real pain, especially when they slow you on higher difficulties. Automatons can be stealthed easier and you have cover to hide behind.
…unless you drop with people who try to run-and-gun bots like they do with bugs. I’ve been in SO many rando lobbies that get bodied because they insist on standing and fighting every single wave of enemies that they find or provoke.
@@OneBiasedOpinion yeah, i've only been fighting the bugs amd from what i know about the bots i wouldnt last a minute. Not cause the bots are harder, if you've ever stood infront of 5 bile titans, like 8 chargers, 12ish of these acid spewing fvcks and around 100 critters you'd agree that thats not the case, but because with bugs you either fight and kill them all at once in an open spray n pray fight or you'll have around 1 gigaton of biomass following you when extracting. Which is obviously the exact opposite of the strategy against bots XD
If you haven't already, before starting a mission, start blasting music. This game is so cinematic at times that loud music actually makes it so badass
Honestly fighting the automatons is my favorite. I’ve had so many crazy strategies play out and so so many close calls against those bots that have made my games against them just the best.
Tjere is nothing like your 1st Automaton mission, that shit is a canon event that will scare you for life as it molds you into a metal grinder and the bugs dont get you off anymore❤
There’s a trick to fighting the bots, and it goes against mainstream gamer instinct; do not shoot as soon as you see them. Odds are, they’ll get a flare off, and call in reinforcements. You have to set up a total ambush; all forces must be eliminated within at least 10 to 15s if you wanna catch a patrol completely off guard. Treat the bots like it’s old assassins creed, you get spotted and you might get swarmed. It’s really easy to die to their bigger guns. The key to the best action there is to either sneak in and get a grenade in their facility assembler, or you need to call in a shit ton of ordinance all at once to blitz the place. Turrets and all. Once you make a lot of noise, you need to get hot feet and get outta there, odds are a local patrol heard the commotion and are closing fast. Just hope it’s not your movement’s route. Z is the prone key, sometimes you need to hide rather than engage. If they see you or hear you, life will get very loud very fast. Do the dive only if you need to get down while on the move. Also, crouching covers most of your bases. The bots tend to focus on the folks making the most noise; so if one of your guys is the one engaging, you can wait behind cover until you have the best engagement angle. Then you hit ‘em with as much fire as you can push out at em. Special notes on weaknesses: Headshots work on smaller droids, but aren’t perfect, armor piercing helps a lot. Shotguns do great with the small fries, machine guns do best against all. The heavy variants have weak points you can target, the best place to hit for the bigger inf droids are the legs, the ones with the chainsaws just need volume of fire. Sentry’s help soooo much if you don’t know for certain if your squad can cover the rear. Just double check to avoid the bots taking advantage. The more fabricators you destroy the less bot patrols you deal with on extraction. Essentially, you need a raider mentality, less super soldier more “if we goof we miss a prime opportunity to catch them lacking.”
Love it. My squad usually goes in with me equipped with the auto cannon, partner with the ammo pack to assist, the other two on flanks. I aim for the big boys while they sweep the small fry. Usually works for us.
I can recommend the JAR-5 Dominator, it has medium armour penetration, explosive ammo and is very accurate. So perfect to deal with even the bigger guys, as long as it is not a Hulk or a Tank you are aiming at...
Preferably call it in while the Hulk is still unaware. Then crouch at a safe distance and aim your best AP weapon at its visor just to make sure it doesn’t survive.
I've been fighting a healthy amount on both sides and my group definitely struggles a little more with the bugs. Every time we hit the creek we have a way easier time than we expect because of all the memes.
That's because you know the creek, you love the creek... The creek is in your blood. Dropped a bug planet for the first time in a long time with the boys last night and we were just laughing and messing around. Then we were like "alright, let's get serious, the creek is calling us"
i think the bots are harder at lower difficulties, but at higher it becomes the bugs. the amount of times ive died to stalkers and hunters swarming me is astronomical.
@nateatheon9191 titans often die to a direct 500kg bomb or railcannon strike, or not a single or two over charged rail gun shots often finish it. Tanks on the other hand seem to commonly shrug off the 500kg and the railcannon I've had not kill 6 times now probably some weird angle of something. The main tank with cannons aren't a big deal to kill but the heavy laser one is different it swivels very fast making it more difficult to deal with without another player or two. I will agree partially with the hulks plus Tanks, I think it's devastators plus Tanks that's the issue, hulks usually less so unless it's rocket hulks.. They're just as bad.
@@yulfine1688i think i've seen titans eating 2 500kgs but idk, its always like at least 3-5 titans at roughly the same time so its hard to keep track which one is which
Disagree, can easily run and dive from the big swarms easily & stalkers are only a pain if you don’t blow up their nests immediately. Robo’s have so many units that spams rockets at you stunning you and literally just one hitting you. Something you can’t just get rid of easily like the stalkers.
@@Javier.ms1 idk what you mean? But yes they have one halo live action which I enjoyed and another movie was a fan made one which isn’t awful but not much they could’ve done. Idk what’s it’s called. Ik they were on a giant rock.
I made it out of Malevelon after replacing 4 Helldivers watching my CO lose his legs getting lost in the jungle and fighting off a horde with my trusty MG.
Well great, I enjoyed fighting the bugs far more than the bots but now I have to choose between being an ODST or being part of the incompetent infantry
Pretty sure that would be impossible with 4 person teams XD, i only know the bug side, but the only thing holding them back from taking over the galaxy is their lack of long range attacks that actually do damage, they have 3 and one of them only reaches around the spewers length lmao.
I just ran some defense missions against the bugs on Angel’s Venture, and it is like night and day. Compared to Draupnir, Mort, or Ingmar it was a walk in the park
