Thank you for a very enjoyable and informative video, me and my family used to spend a week in Cornwall almost every year back in the 1960s and early 70s. We always chose the first week in June when the weather was always good and being outside of the school holidays relatively quiet. Thank you bringing back some lovely memories of those holidays.

Hi Dennis, you're most welcome, and so pleased the video helped to bring out the memories. I bet June is a lovely time to visit - it was relatively busy, and on days when we visited Padstow and St. Ives overwhelmingly so. I guess it's the downside of being a teacher! 🤷‍♀️

Isn't it amazing how much you can fit into two weeks! Great summary and nice to see the cost of it all at the end. You certainly got the most out of the days and I like how you chose a few different locations to base yourself at in order to maximise coverage. You've certainly opened up my eyes to England's south-west - very impressed! Looking forward to your next adventure!

Wow, Wow, Wow - we are coming (from Australia) to the UK in September and parts of Devon/Cornwall are on our 'wish list'. After trawling through several very ordinary offerings, we found your gem. We like to travel and we seek out Videos beforehand to assist in planning. This video is the best I've every seen - informative, beautifully filmed and showing places/activities of interest for many age groups. The budget breakdown and the Google interactive maps are a real bonus. I can't thank you enough. Now I'm going to check out some of your other videos. :)

Hi Geoff, thank you so much for such a lovely comment on this video. It really makes my day to hear that my videos have been helpful for others when planning their own trips. September should be nice as you should still get some nice weather (by UK standards) but far less crowds as the schools have gone back! I hope you enjoy your time visiting the west country as much as we did!

Very interesting to me who for years kept a tight watch on what trips cost me. In my teens (1970`s) I looked after the monies for trips across to Turkey and the alps for our group of about 15 of us. I found it a lot of fun as there was a lot of different currencies to control. I still have many of my calculations and even currencies from those days. Later on smaller trips we would keep a running total of all expenditures and have a final reconciliation at the end of a trip. Money matters are easier I think when it is just one family involved. I did therefore look with interest at your spreadsheet. No computers in those days. Even a calculator had still to make an appearance. Currency exchange rates had to bee done longhand. But it was fun! Your trip took me back to so many familiar places and it was obvious that your walks on the coast paths were a highlight, as they were for me. Just wish you could see the light as far as the correct way to consume a cream tea. Cornish is best! Sorry to ramble on but you have sparked yet more memories of those days.

Not rambling at all, I loved reading this and getting an understanding of what things may have been like back in the 70's for attempting to plan trips and keep on top of budgets - it's fascinating. I went abroad on my own for the first time in 2004, and I often think about how easier things are now, internet on phones, not only for booking things on the go, but things like maps, currency exchange apps, the ability to google things as you stumble across things, translate apps... you name it! But in 2004 I remember being able to use the internet to book stuff, I just had to use internet cafes! 🤣 I love that you've kept a hold of the written calculations and left over currencies. That's another thing, I think of Europe and I think of the Euro. I know not everywhere uses it, but it does help keep the amounts of left over change down to a minimum! Now I'm thinking back to holiday's as a child with the likes of French Francs, German Deutschmarks and Spanish Peseta's! ❤️ As for the cream tea... I've just been informed my 'lack of toppings' may have been the issue so I'm willing to give the Cornish another go, but with DIY it this time allowing me to go bigger on the quantity of jam and cream!
@IvorsTravels
@IvorsTravels 2 года назад
@@WhenAdventureKnox Yes. Definitely more toppings. One joy of also planning routes meant that I could year after year amend the routing after "discovering" new shorter/faster/cheaper options. These often took me, coincidentally to new destinations that I wanted to get to.With the currencies you can add to your list, Belgian Francs, Austrian Schillings, Italian Lire, Yugoslav Dinars, Greek Drachma, Bulgarian Lev and Turkish Liras. No internet either. It was a real adventure. Today things are easier and I would not be without the internet.

I'm so pleased you wanted to watch the entire series, that means so much to me!! ❤️ Depending on how set in stone your trip is, I'd highly recommend getting the boat, small plane or helicopter over to the Isles of Scilly for at least a couple of nights. We visited recently and am in the process of editing together those videos, so if you have questions about the islands before the videos come out, please just ask!

Hi Chandan. We were there late July into early August as a 2 week trip. The weather technically should be at it best then, but we found it hit and miss. But the crowds will be heaving! If you have flexibility, go before UK schools go on holiday (before mid to end of July) or after they go back - September... if you still want warn weather with less people. Or go in the off season to have it (almost) to yourself.

I had no idea that's where the name Bridgewater came from, but it makes sense as it's spelt 'bridg' rather than 'bridge' so not like a bridge over some water.

Hi Khatoon. The tragic story about Rayan made headlines here in the UK too - so awful for him and his family! your research is very accurate about the area being excellent for hiking. I'm sure I'll be back soon enough for more hikes in that part of the UK as it really is stunning, with tonnes of history thrown in too!
