I’m a young single mom that thankfully makes a very good living. I still couldn’t help but resent myself everyday for the fact that my child’s dad abandoned us. I’ve been listening to a lot of your videos & have come to learn a lot. I deactivated my social media. I cut down all my expenses, sold majority of the extra things i didn’t need & live a very minimalist life. I’m still very far from cultivating true happiness but I’m slowly making progress & lately i’ve been a lot more at peace by doing less & less. Thank you.
Cheering you on! What you have done is just the beginning. You’re detaching from the material world but you’re not done because you’re still emotionally attached to that person. It’s hard but you will overcome it! :)
Good for you. Don't blame yourself for the actions of another. Many men do this. It is life. Try to find peace within yourself instead of depending on an external, unreliable source for peace.
Yes, it is so true! It is an wakening within us. When that person, a sentence in a book, etc., speaks to us it manifests in our being. We become aware in a way that enlightens us differently than before.
To give up richness to walk bare is not just courage, not just sacrifice, its inner wisdom! May your path continues towards brightness and purity , and inspire others to change to be better each day. Thank you and Sadhu for the inspiration LP Nick!
1.3K comments, and you've responded to nearly every one. Thank you for making these videos, for taking the time and energy to do so. My mother passed a week after her birthday in 2006, and I didn't call her on her birthday. My father and I haven't talked but a few times a year since. I'll call my father tomorrow.. Thank you for reminding me.
Thank you for these teachings. My husband has cancer. Instead of feeling angry and upset at what is happening I will choose to focus on helping him through his healing journey. Life is hard but there are lessons and opportunities in adversity. Your videos have been a comfort during this difficult time.🙏
@@nickkeomahavong01 oh thats so kind ! Im just 18 but my first huge vacation goal is 100% a buddhist monastery, now i know where 😊 You have 1 more subscriber 🙏
I usually never comment in the chat section but this video really opened my eyes about everything around me. With the fast pace of school and exams most of times as students we fail to slow down in life and to be grateful about the small things around us. You really changed my perspective about how I see the world and I just wanted to thank you for sharing these blow minding lessons.
Awww thank you so much Dusty for sharing your experience. I'm glad it's helpful. You're right, being a student can bring so much stress so its even more important now than ever to take care of ourselves. Keep up the great work my friend. Greetings to you from Thailand ❤❤
Nick, I am so glad that your elders allow you to have a computer and to share your experience and wisdom with us! You are inspiring and benefiting people all over the world. You definitely have a gift to present excellent videos and to impart Buddhist wisdom with clarity and genuineness! ( not to puff up your ego!) I am grateful for what you are doing. In this Coronavirus age we need this teaching and insight more than ever! Thank you friend- much appreciation for you and your community for sharing these videos! ❤️
Thank you so much my friend. I'm also glad we are able to use technology with proper intention. In this post covid world, it gives an opportunity to share this wisdom with the world 😊
This is so amazing and profound. We fail to learn these lessons in our rat race of modern life. Thank you for sharing these important lessons with us. We have so much to learn from you :)
I've been looking into meditation and came across this video. I suffer so much when i wake up, when im alone, and even when im with my friends. Sometimes, I cant understand why I feel this agony. This back and forth thoughts about the past and the future, but meditating has really been improving my mind to think in the present. I have a great family, a dream job, and many friends but often come back to thinking this way. Your video on what you've learned is a part of me learning that its okay to be present in the, "now," so i thank you so much for that. I pray for everything that you do, that more people will be affected by your positive message. It sure does feel great to feel gratitude. Thank you so much Nick.
Awww thank you so much for your kind words. Just take more time each day to get quiet and still. Allow that inner peace to grow from within. The great news is that you already have a strong foundation with your job, family, friends, etc.. but just shift things around a bit and you'll do great 🙂
I’m listening to this on July 21st. It will be your anniversary tomorrow: congratulations! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and experiences. There is a lot to learn. Love from Belgium. ♥️
You've been an incredible impression on me as I'm feeling I've made some life decisions recently and you're helping me stay on my path. I appreciate your story and your words
Thank you so very, very much - your posts mean the world to me. I'm South African (Roman Catholic) and have lived in Asia for over 18 years (China, now Singapore) - I'm now starting to take small steps toward Buddhist understanding. Your channel is so genuine and beautiful. Thank you... 1000 times over.
When you talk About your journeys challenges and how hard it is at times, I could feel your emotions and thought you might shed some tears 🌷. Much love to you and thank you for your inspiring words and actions
Thanking you, for such thoughtful, and mindful words - you speak very genuinely and naturally Appreciating the videos you are making and sharing 🌺 Hello from 🇨🇦
Thank you so much for bringing this healing energy to the world and for sharing your experience of being a monk on this channel! May you attain the Supreme Bliss of Nibbana in This Live itself. Sadu sadu sadu 🙏🙏🙏
You inspire me every day, dear Nick (your videos). You are forever in my heart. May you fulfill your deepest wish for happiness through the teachings of the Holy Buddha.
I luv your teaching,I luv when u said that u don't have to be a monk to do this or that,u can take a few minutes of your time to enhance your life. I had on my headphone listening to u and I started to feel at peace and at that moment I felt spiritually light and uplifted thank u.
The path of the Buddha is an undeniably good one. There is no wrong in it. It always brings a wide smile to my face when I see somebody go down this path.
Thank you so much for all of your videos. I have gone through a period of great losses on all levels of life (job, health, custody, housing...) but buddhist teachings have kept me patient and grateful for life. Now i have regained so much, i feel so much enthousiasm for life, bit with it comes ego. I will follow your advice and try to find a more steady pace in order to find durable peace for myself and my 4 year old son. Lots of love to all of you ❤
I'm a 15 years old and believe it or not, i'm trying to do these things (started at 14) without knowing what is Buddhism monkhood, the only i know is meditate. Over time, it's growing. I have more time to myself, then evaluating and reflecting thoughts and i heard voices for guidace, friends, started to not needing much, then more into God (i'm a Christian) to help others more and be humble. And finally, i'm growing the real happiness. I crave my own way to find my own peace, and i'm proud of that. A fellow Christian here, i respect so much about Buddhism.
25 minutes and every sentence makes sense! Thank you! You are a teacher and I hope you will become better and better and share your wisdom with us now and in future!
It was sweet listening to the part that your mum was happy and proud of you. You are safe and doing good for the world so your mum has done very well indeed. Best wishes to you & your loved ones during this virus season.
Thank you for this. In a shamanic practitioner and try my best to embrace many of these Buddhist principles. It’s not always easy. But ultimately, these practices create deep inner peace 🙏🏻
Bhante, this video encourages me so much. It’s so hard for a lay person to practice with consistency. COVID-19 has made everything so different. But for me it affords me the time to let go of fixed views. I’m 68 years old and seeing loved ones passing away. My body is getting older and sicker. Impermanence is all around me. The fear of inevitably losing loved ones is painful for me. So I’m trying to experience it and then let go. It’s really hard. Thank you for your teaching, Bhante.
Hello Bhante, I’m trying sit more regularly and practice Anapanasati. If I slack off I will chant the Taking Refuge to Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha, the Precepts, The Homage to the Triple Gem, The Five Recollections and some Tibetan mantras like Om Máne Padme Hum. These are helpful as reminders of what is important in life and to remind me to compassionate. But the serious work is meditation. In any event, to see a gentleman like yourself who did well in his business life, who really didn’t have a problem in lay life, go and undertake the monastic training. Thank you for sharing your merit. May you be well, happy. Healthy, safe and always at ease. Thank you
I stumbled upon your videos, I'm so inspired, I long for the inner peace you possess. You have helped me so much more than you will ever know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Nick.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Regardless of what happens in the future, it sounds like you have been able to take a deep look at the values/behaviors you had before, and scrutinize and evaluate which ones to alter or abandon, and what to replace them with. Well done!
I’m so thankful for finding your channel, I’m in a bad moment of my life because my cat got lost and I only find peace through your voice and words. I’m really so sad.
I'm glad it's helpful and I'm sorry for your loss. Feel free to join our online Reddit community also if you like. This may provide you with some support.
Thanks for sharing with us 6 important lessons of the life. None of each is less important. You have very carefully thought & pointed out these .. One thing is sure nothing is more valuable & precious than PEACE. It gives right thought, right view which you have got already... Buddha Bless us all. Metta !
Enjoyed the wonderful message - thank you so much - the most companionable companion is a happy and busy solitude which gives you peace and joy and permeates the fragrance to others which benefits your community and environment! Tashi Delek! Peace be with you at all times - simple living is very meaningful!
Thank you for the wisdom! I love the idea of adding "one small grain of sand every day". Makes it much easier to stay on track and keep making progress ☺️
Thank you Nick, that was such an honest and humble talk yet quite motivating at the same time. Re your bonus tip, I was told by someone there is no way in the world that we can repay our parents and the least we could do for them is look after them and their needs (like how they looked after us when we were kids) and help them walk on the path of righteousness. Thank you very much for sharing! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Aww thank you so much jay. I appreciate the support and glad it was beneficial. Also yes...our parents are so important. We should do our best to repay them 😊
Hi Rahim, I'm on this path now with my dad and it's very hard. I'm drawing strength from nicks teachings and can't thank him enough for giving me the strength to keep going and not throwing the towel in...... very stressful time and have covid at the mo and no sleep because of dad either. Dropped a full bowl of weetabix down the side of the cupboard and all over the floor at work yesterday. Ordinarily I would of gone nuts shouting and swearing but I just stopped, looked at it, then slowly, methodically cleared it up. Just learning over time to let things go and yep, it feels damn good and very empowering to not be so reactive..... Nicks teachings are helping so many people and we are all so blessed to have found him....... Hope this finds you fine and dandy 🙏
Where were u when I needed u? I've finally found u. All what ur saying r really making sense to me. Will keep following ur words of love, simplicity, wisdom. Thank you.
The way you talk and smile is quite similar to Ajahn Khemavaro's, I mean both of you talk with self confidence and peace of mind. It's a really wonderful talk and I really enjoy watching it. Highly appreciate.
Its nice to see that you feel innerpeace and I agree with you to be quiet and stay away our thoughts and be with our self. Be in the moment. Fantastic.
doing your best in every moment, no matter what others are doing or not doing, spoke to me, I needed your message today ! thank you for sharing your rich experience!
Bhante, it sounds like you were very focused and directed in your lay life, and I am sure that helped you find a positive direction as a bikkhu. I am glad that you have taken the direction that you did.
Truly beautiful. I am grateful that you followed your intuition and share your journey with us. All of your videos I have watched have been incredibly touching and beneficial. I grew up Buddhist in Tokyo. After being a Buddhist 50 years, your voice speak to my heart and I am learning so much from you. Thank you for helping me better myself.
I especially love the last part about calling our parents! You are so right about parents. It makes me so happy that she loves talking to me. It fills me with immense joy to share my journey.
That’s a beautiful message, thank you again. I hear all about the good energy.. I wish I knew to be in touch with my mom before she passed but as today I am okay that knowing I’ve spent good years with her. The teachings of the Monk is so surreal, touching and discipline. I love to hear every positive feed from your channel. It has helped me tremendously, especially during covid. Dealing with anxiety and depression wasn’t good but having to hear good vibes from this was helpful. I’m learning each day. I too want to be content with myself someday. Thank you again
I live in Australia. I am a life coach. I admire buddhism. By birth i am hindu but i follow buddhism. I went to VipassanaMeditation when i was 21 and i knew it was for me. I want to live like a monk for few years and learn like you are doing. May be after few years. Hope it goes the way planned. Proud of you for taking this path and thank you for sharing your journey and knowledge 🙏😊
Please dont joke.. like kindergarten. We can measure you mind in second. Why.. you are in God creation. God creation is a delusion .. pleaseread Richad Dawkin's "God delusion". Your Jesu is also in God delusion.you can experiance that.
Agree. I am 40, single, no children. Many judge my lifestyle. Sometimes I wonder if I am missing out on many life experiences, but the wisdom I gained has opened my mind and my heart to an extent I doubt would have occurred otherwise while trapped in the day to day of western world. I am currently at the point of giving away all my possessions. I find it’s difficult with voices telling me I will regret it later, fighting the concept of money and fear of scarcity. All the best with your journey. Sending good waves your way 🌈
I'm sure monkhood is life changing (for the better). I envy your spiritual journey. Cultivating inner peace & happiness while owning less material things seems next to impossible, especially in the western world. For the majority, it's a "me me me, my my my, mine mine mine" & " what's in it for me" attitude. So sad 🥺 actually. Thank you for sending these constant gentle reminders Nick ✌🏻 Until your next vlog. Be safe.
So soothing to hear u monk. It's very inspiring to listen Ur experience and adopt in my daily sansaar life. Let ur positive vibrations reach every one near and far ones listening u.
Monk how can I be in touch with you. Like Ur WhatsApp number so that if I have any doubt I can clarify my qualifications. It would be of great help. Thanks bhante.
Buddha is my great inspiration . I love spiritualism. I love being alone with my own company. I don't want to do job and don't want to lead the same life like others . I want to spend my life in happiness and spirituality. One simple question Sir . how did u agree to ur parents for being a monk?
Establish a connect with a so called Guru or mentor who guides you through all ups and down. Keep searching till you anchor your trust and then just let go.🙏
Thank you so much for motivating us. I had tears in my eyes throughout the video. i can say you have done good karma making this video, sharing your experience and your learnings. I promise you that I will work on myself bit by bit every day keeping your guidance in the center. Thanks again.
Am I the only one who hear a ringing sound in the background ? Are those crickets or is it your frequency because you are vibrating at a higher frequency. I mean that in all respects. You have so much positive energy it resonates. Thank you for sharing your experience.
The ‘The community’ you describe sounds like a similar experience I got from the army. Especially the recruit course. ‘I’m not special’ cleaning the toilet with your bare hands etc.
Very inspiring. Certainly the best "buddhist monk channel. Smartness and kindness on an original journey. I am not an "official buddhist, but i have studied the buddha's path since many years, try to practice meditation, and go on into a simple, minimalist, freer life. Take care, peace.
Not calling them?!? How is that forgiven?!?! I see the resentment is still simmering underneath. Like an iceberg, it appears serene on top but underneath filled with rough torrents and danger. True forgiveness is really letting go of resentment/baggage and see others through the lens of mercy and kindness as MANY others may have see in you. Forgiveness is an act, not just words. After forgiving my parents, I would visit them as often as I could. I can not change them, but I let my actions speak for itself.
@@Joshuatree7746 I forgave my sexual abuser to the extent that I can but I forgave her too many times and let her back into my life too many times only to get hurt again over and over. They're right to not call their parents if their relationship was as toxic as what I experienced.
I’m a youth mentor at a group home and listening to this while doing my paperwork I became inspired about a dozen different ways that I can begin to give these practices to my kids. Thank you so much for the clarity you’ve given me by showing your own progress with your practice. Not only has it been a major impact on myself just now but it’s a message I know it’s something that I can bestow upon the younger generation to lift them up as well.
Hello Bhante, I ordained in Thailand a few months after you in Chiang Mai. I ordained in The Dhammayut Nikaya Thai Forrest tradition. I'm also American, now living in Myanmar. Would love to meet some time after the pandemic is over. Peace and good luck on your continued practice.~
Greetings Tan Varrapanyo, which Wat Pah did you ordain at ...? I ordained at Wat Pah Nanachat from early 2000s .. i have since disrobed and am looking to ordain in the Dhammayut tradition when i can get over the border from Vietnam when the border allows. Sadu, Anumodana 🙏 ( Tit. Rattapalo)
