Thanks for the kind words about my cat art ! Great Video too! Yeah Displate is one of my best selling PODs. They used to have a much higher payout but it's less now however they do a ton of marketing on your behalf and that is something to take into consideration.
The very fist "hard" step is to accept you as a seller!!! I still waiting to accept me! I have tried 3 times already but nothing! This is totally sad! I have a small portfolio but I can work hard to make good designs for them! I need only a chance to prove it but I suppose they're not interested in this! 😭 Of course, I'm very happy about you dude! You're awesome and your videos are helping a lot! Keep going the good work!
Thanks for this video! I just started uploading some collections to Displate a week ago. It's a lot of fun for me so far. Congratulations on your sales milestone!
I had 3,000 designs for a long time and many were in a huge underserviced niche, but I am always finding new niches and trying them out (and making sales). I am currently pushing to get 5,000 designs (which will take time because there is a 10 image limit per day on most days).
Hey Zen, I would really love for you to make video about the artwork approval system in Displate. A lot of my artworks got rejected recently, they are not copyrighted and they are very high quality design! Thanks.
What should be the design size? And what kind of creative work mostly/ widely appreciated on displate platform?? I want to start. But clueless, what to make or wgat sells best !!
The minimum Displate size is 2900 x 4060 pixels at 300 dpi, but you can go bigger. There are a bunch of different niches (everything from gaming to motivational, nature and sci-fi) and each niche has its own competition and customer base. There are endless possibilities!
@@zenwatercooler can you make a long detailed video displate poster design to upoading it on displate platform. It will help one, as to how to go about things.
Hey Zen, what do you think about very cool SVG created images as a displate? I got some very cool stuff. or do you think SVG related stuff does not go that good on displate due to the lower details
Thank you, Sir , for the value you giving to us! How do you think, should we niche down the whole shop/account to one topic/design style or just possible to upload everything and split it by collections?
Hello! Displate allows 10 uploads per day so it would take a while to build a huge portfolio. I definitely recommend collections - Displate promotes individual designs but also on their site they showcase "recommended collections" so I would say have a lot of different collections with high quality designs and you can definitely make sales!
Thanks for sharing! Really appreciate your content as now I also just start selling on this website. Just wondering how often should I upload to catch up with search algorithm like at least 1 Displate per day, or a small batch of 4-5 per week? I would like to know how other creators manage their upload schedule.
It's a good question - I have sometimes uploaded every day for weeks and other times gone a month without uploading, and I have not noticed any difference (sales for me are remarkably consistent). I think Displate does a good job promoting the designs on websites and social media!
@@zenwatercooler Thank you for your advice! This helps a lot. Now I have uploaded regularly and just got myself a first "Not approved" haha. Should I email them to ask for reasons, so that I know how should I do better. I did all the requirements like 300 DPI in RGB mode. JPG file and 4060px x 2900px, so I am quite confused here. Normally do the staff reach back to us for explanation?
Could you make another Video on what were your steps to sell, 20000 Displates? I am starting my displate business and would love to hear more about the way you did it.
Congo on your sales. Btw how many designs do you have on displate? And all this is organic traffic or you shared on some social media and all. Last year i watched you 10000 sales video then did start uploading (around 10-12 )got 1 sale after month or so. After that never got a sale. Got demotivated and didn't upload and here you have made another 10000 sales. Gonna start again. Let's see how it goes
Yes it is definitely a numbers game. I had 3,000 designs for a long while and then recently am making a push for 5,000 designs. It all comes down to niches - doing a generic dorm room poster probably won’t get a lot of sales (as an example, not saying you are doing that). I look at the best-selling designs and then do keyword searches and see how many come back. If low number (like 200), then make 50 in that niche.
Yes, Displate requires you to apply to get on their platform, and to do so you have to have a strong portfolio, they are really strict on independent artists at the moment, because there are a lot of artists on the platform already
I can only speak for me - I typically see 3 to 5x the sales in November and December, so whatever the baseline for January to October, that triples for the Christmas season!
I was around 3,000 for a couple of years and in the last couple of months I am trying to be more diligent with the uploads - i am hoping to get to 5,000 shortly!
damned forgotten one thing - if I do designs in midjourney I will do this with --ar 5:7 or 7:5 because of Displates 1.4 : 1 ratio, but may be thats not the best way ?
I can’t really say for sure, I can only provide my experience - I had 10-15 on a Behance page and each design was completely different to show range. Good luck!!
I have heard that they are pretty picky when it comes to accepting new applicants - I would say keep trying, I know that they DO accept new applicants but probably just not that many
I usually average $1,000 to $2,000 in the six weeks per payout, and then Oct-Nov-Dec are really high, I think my best month was $8,000 US. Lots of uploads but it is fun making money!
@@zenwatercooler thats amazing, i got literally 750 uploads and one collection makes 99% of my profit.. pretty frustrating that over 500 designs not sold yet
Congratulations, looks nice. I would like to start on Displate too. Would you be so kind to give me an important information? I have read about the ratio 1.4:1 and minimum of 2900 px shortest side...But the best size would be 4000 x 5600 isn`t it? Have you got an idea where I can resize my images in an easy way? Because I am a bit of a fool in tech things... thank you so much. Kindest regards, Sven
Yes good question - 2900x4060 is the minimum. Anything that size or larger should get accepted if every elementin the design is 300 dpi or better. I do larger sizes if possible because it increases my chance of getting them approved (the bot that accepts the designs is extremely picky).
@@zenwatercooler thank you, I still surfing through your content. I have to turn all my designs from transparent background to black background and jpeg format. Unfortunately I have got no experience with managing sizes and so on. This cost me a ton of time because I have to re-do many designs because of the other measurements. Or am I wrong by changing from 1500 x 1500 to 4000 x 5600 px ? Excuse me, I am a bit older... :-)
No you are bang on - it's around $2-4 per sale. Sometimes someone buys an XL so it could be $7. I typically make 15-30 sales a day, and on Black Friday I hit 250 sales in that one day (so if you sell a lot it definitely adds up).
I watched this video, that led me to your video about 10,000 sales. Both are great videos. Do you think AI art would be good for Displate? I am sure you have tried AI art, and you know the quality of the images is very low, but after upscaling the images, they might work. I have run into a problem, though, through upscaling the particular images that I have made, and that is that I prefer the softer look of the original AI artwork, upscaler produce a harsher look, I think. I was wondering if you know what I mean, and how you could get the softness added back in. Whether it is a filter or a slight blur, or whatever. For instance, if I make a cat, when I go to upscale it, you can see every paint stroke, or whatever, where the original image just looked soft, like it almost has a texture of softness on it. I hope you understand what I mean. 😂 I have been getting some really amazing images from Canva's text to image app, and I think they would be great on posters and such, but I just want it to be a higher resolution, without all of the harshness that seems to happen. Thanks, for a great video.
Congratulations on your incredible sales! I have set myself as a goal to earn $ 500 / month on Displate by the end of the year to earn something extra with my hobby. However, lately I always have problems with my designs not being accepted, even though I take care of all things required by Displate (pixel dimensions of 4000 x 5600, 300dpi, srgb color profile etc.). All my designs are vector art, which I create in Adobe Illustrator so the print quality can‘t get any sharper / cleaner, but my designs still get rejected. Do you possibly have an idea what this could be due to?
@@XenoXvi I have found the solution for me. Most of the time when you export the images through Photoshop normally, they lose quality. You have to use the image processor to keep the 300dpi quality. If you also use Photoshop, try that. Since I use the image processor and not the regular export feature almost all my images are getting accepted
Hey there - I am not aware of any restriction regarding AI - the design just needs to meet the quality threshold. It will be interesting to see where AI goes in the near future!
