Disco is appreciated now because it uses REAL instruments and voices. I've driven a truck for 28 years and 2 roads that I have enjoyed are in PA. US322 from Harrisburg to State College and US15 from Selinsgrove south along the river to Harrisburg. There is a new highway being built from Selinsgrove north. Maybe keep it on the bucket list for later. Be safe!
Really brought back memories of the 70s for me. Gloria Gaynor's "Never Can Say Goodbye" makes me lose it every time because of some romance going on at the time. Going out to the clubs on weekends was the most fun time I've ever experienced. I would never do that now, even in the absence of a pandemic. Things change.
I'm not at all a fan of disco music but it fits the video perfectly. Seeing thew LA skyline for the first time is an awesome experience. I remember when I went there in 2017 when I saw the LA skyline in the distance on the bus ride from LAX to Downtown from high up on the ramp in the Judge Harry Pregerson Interchange. Such an amazing experience.
Thank you very much and I appreciate your objectivity with the music, it's all about what fits yet many people get caught up in their own tastes that they lose sight of that, and yes LA is an amazing experience indeed.

Back in the day... (oh no, here comes a long story)... I'll refrain from most of the old Disco stories I had from the '70's... You get older & wiser & more forgiving & realize that maybe Disco wasn't so bad after all. It works like a charm in this video! Ca 110 looks ENGAGING! (I haven't driven it yet). It's officially on my to-do list if and when we get back out to L.A.
@@Freewayjim Yup, the 110 is definitely a must-do if you're in LA. I drove it last summer (still haven't gotten to that video yet!) and it was pretty awesome. Loved the Arroyo Seco Parkway as well as the big huge interchange with I-105.
WOW! This brought back a lot of memories of my high school days the music was great memories of going to dances. I also traveled through all the freeways on the video and a few more.

Your videos are the best of the immersive drive ones~no one compares IMHO! You always pick the best music to compliment the feel of the city you are showing! Since I can't travel right now due to caring for an elderly parent, I get to experience it thru your videos. Keep up the great work!

My lord you really know how to capture a mood. I'm a little bit older than you and I remember driving to the clubs of West Hollywood listening to Donna Summer. LA was fascinating back then but now is better because the air is so much cleaner. Driving past the towers of Downtown back then thick clouds of dirty air could be seen drifting in-between the buildings.
@@FreewayjimThe mountains that you have mentioned in past vids could not be seen ever, except right after a rain. Lead Oxide affects the brain and learning among other things. LA really is better now. Now you know why California gave us the modern environmental movement. It had to be done.
The soundtrack of this remix fits well. Your first time in Greater L.A. back in 2013 was great for you to record footages of it's amazing highways. Well done.
Great work on this one Jim......I am one that thinks disco was great although I was very young when it was on the radio......You can't beat LA at dusk with a disco soundtrack.

@@Freewayjim What is great about the first 7 minutes, other than Donna Summer, is you see the entire history of the freeway system on the 110, from L.A.'s original Pasadena Fwy (arroyo seco pkwy) built before the war, to the 4 level interchange built after the war, to the 105 / 110 stack jtc. The southern california freeway system is a feat in engineering, when you look at it.

Finally able to watch it without interruption- nice ride- I always liked LA freeways myself and all- had the privilege of riding them in 1990 when I was out there on a vacation with my aunt! Nice ride- love the dusk to dark- the lit up LA skyline, the lights, especially loved seeing the Vincent Thomas Bridge again as I always liked suspension bridges like that- nice to see that one again! Nice ride my friend- and also good commentary at the end- I look forward to seeing what you do down the road later in the summer!
Wow, I miss LA!!! Being from San Diego; I've only been up there twice. It's beautiful there and I sure would love to visit again sometime soon. Great video of the drive 👌👍

Loved this. I thought the music was just fine for this. I too like different genres of music and was in my early 20s during the disco era and remember dancing to all of them songs, lol. Stay safe and enjoy your time off.
Took me back to my childhood / teen years too, especially the Donna Summer tunes. There's another MacArthur Park in Little Rock, AR where I live; not many cakes left out in the rain (the Richard Harris and even Waylon Jennings versions had that nonsense too -- what was Jimmy Webb thinking?), but it includes the former U.S. Army arsenal building where Gen. Douglas MacArthur (also the namesake of LA's park) was born. I just graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's William H. Bowen School of Law, which is right next door to MacArthur Park; my virtual graduation was posted to RU-vid this weekend. I'll be spending your hiatus studying for the bar exam. 😁

I don't know how to thank you that because your videos my son knows now a lot of good music and I hope he can love the good music and not be "catched" with the poor music from today. Since he was born I really wanted to show him the music but not idea of how to do it and not be annoying. Thanks. I've only just got round to watching this one and thoroughly enjoyed it. The highlights for me were I-405 coming downhill on the pass, the Pasadena Freeway and the disco soundtrack. LA is huge isn't it? I think your video here proves that. Keep up the good work (after your break from it that is).

i remember the first time i drove into LA.. i see using signals has become more socially acceptable... 20 years ago it was considered a sign of weakness...
cool video Jim! As someone interested in the bass guitar, I've always admired and really "homed in on" disco bass lines, and all these songs has a very well-crafted one! I can only hope to learn to play well enough to even play something like that. LOL
Driving around Los Angeles, at night, was always been a relaxing experience for me...UNLESS it was on the interstate, on a Friday rush hour evening, during a heavy rain. Nope. If I ever go back o LA, that rule stands. PS - I loved the "COVID-19" series, Jim. They only make my wanderlust stronger than ever, especially since I haven't left the house since March.
Whoever said disco sucks? Perfect fit for this video, with some classics I haven't heard in years. I just wish that the politicians weren't trying so hard to push California into the ocean, otherwise I'd miss it much more. Anyways, thanks for another trip down memory lane with a tuneful soundtrack.
Great concept, love the music. However I think it would be even much more immersing if you included the actual ambience sound, even at fast speed, as a low background sound.
@@stargazer3284 How can I possibly do that when I have the radio/music on and am having a conversation with the person/people with me? If you want outdoor sounds then I'd have to turn the radio off, be quiet and put the windows down which, guess what? would drown it all out with the sound of the wind at 65+ MPH. Even if I did do all that I'd have to do the videos in real-time speed or the "Natural Sounds" wouldn't make sense, and that would be anything but immersing, no thanks, I think the channel does pretty well the way it is.
That last track sounded a lot like Joey McIntyre's "Give It Up"... Lol. Music is the same actually, just the lyrics are different. Great video as always Jim.

Thank you for the first 10 videos, I am looking forward to the "second half" of the 2020 season. Everybody is scrambling to find alternatives to for what they intended to do. Even the better attempts come off as a substitute for the real thing. Not your 2020 series.
