I'm glad this video was made, and I'm an Alcest fan. I've been listening to a band called Holy Fawn though. So far my favorite albums from them are Dimensional Bleed and Death Spells.

Awesome video. Black metal is my favorite metal genre and blackgaze is probably my favorite subgenre of that, though post-black metal and atmospheric black metal are close. Though some of the albums mentioned here lean more towards post-black than blackgaze this is a very solid list with pretty much anything I would suggest being covered. The only two that I would suggest that aren't on here are Nova by Sylvaine from Norway and Beautiful Ghosts by Unreqvited from Canada.

Thanks for the list, happy to see Amesoeurs here, that album is so atmospheric! I have to recommend one track from Sadness, a 23 min song from album Leave - Encontrarnos. It's mesmerizing!

Thanks for making this list. I had tons of joy making playlist discovering amazing pieces one by one. Your recommendations are much more profound than on other similar vids with 10 times more view. You definitely know and LOVE the subject, you even recommend individual tracks so great job. My introduction to the genre was Damian's another project "life" with its "demo three", amazing piece too. Wanted to get into blackgaze for long

yay, so glad to see Olhava and Show Me the Dinosaur here! If anyone's willing to dive deeper into russian blackgaze/post-black scene, I'd also recommend культура курения ("smoking culture") as one of the staples and Varhara as a band that has made some prominent waves recently.

Solid list! I'm going to have to check out a couple of the artists here that I haven't heard yet. I really fell in love with this style as it was emerging over 10 years ago. It was a very needed evolution from the stagnating orthodox black metal of the 00s. I'd also say Germ's "Butterfly" might be the finest example of the style. An honorable mention: Cold Body Radiation. Their output has been quite solid and is as good as the bands mentioned here.

A great list! I am familiar with most of these bands/records but there are a few to check out. I would also recommend the artist Sylvaine, especially her latest release 'Nova'

Good list. Ones to check out that aren't on this list are Autumn by Coldworld (plus the rest of their discography), Esse Est Percipi by Autumn Nostalgie, Eiskrig I by Wedward and Negative Memories by My Useless Life. They are the ones I always go back to.

So happy to see a LOT of great artists and even specific albums that I recognize on this list. If there's any one band I would recommend you all listen to, it's Grief & Bliss--they've got a fantastic blackgaze sound and feel.

Thanks for this list! I downloaded a bunch of your recommendations to my Apple Music. Alcest - Souvenirs d'un autre monde is by far one of my favorite of this style of music. So nice to see it at the top of your list. I'm a big fan of Blood Incantation and their album Hidden History of the Human Race. Though it may not fit into the Blackgaze genre it's one of the trippiest, prettiest, travel across the universe, badass psychedelic metal music I've ever heard. Similar feeling to when I first heard Deftones's White Pony album.

Lantlôs - Lantlôs (2008) Suburban Blackgaze Metal Holy Grail of Post Black, It started completely a full escence of Black nostalgia meeting shoegaze , its. A must Listen , Îsern Himmel (2006-07) too. Great video !

I tend to listen to blackgaze and silent hill inspired music in the autumn and winter months. Not sure if thats just a me thing or a genuine sound that some people identify and vibe with during these colder months.... Probably the latter😅

Would've liked to listen to more of the songs featured on this video. Idk if RU-vid's DRM have a stricter time limit nowadays, but it feels like it's not enough to get an idea of what the song is. Would've loved to at least hear them in the background while the narrator talked about each band.

Guys, please remember that when you listen to russian bands like Olhava on streaming services, you help them to get monetization and then pay some taxes to the russian government. This money will be used to finance missiles and bombs launched against citizens of Ukraine and Syria. Even though it can be a little money, this is noticeable support of aggression against foreign countries. Thanks for the video though, I've taken a few references.
