Until last year I was up to 300 pounds, but a huge depression phase that held on for close to 4 months dropped that weight substancially. I have lost over 60 pounds by now, and I aim to lose even more.

The sad thing is that for most of these people, someone is enabling them to eat the number of calories needed to gain or maintain their weight. If you can not walk, how do you get to the refrigerator??? Who brings you the food???

Honestly, when I see this I can't wrap my mind around the amounts of food these people must consume to reach these sizes. We all know hearty eaters - I have a relative who can inhale twice as much as everyone else at every meal, drinks sodas, and snacks on junk food all day and he is overweight by about 50 lbs but he still weighs 1/4 what some of these people weigh. I just don't understand the logistics of obtaining the vast quantities of food these people must consume - how much does it cost? Who buys it? They clearly can't even leave their homes, so someone carts this stuff in and gives it to them. I really want to know!

I was up to 440 pounds at one point in my life, but i lost 230 of it. Problem is now i have lose to 40 pounds of lose skin as i had surgery and cant get all this skin removed as insurance wont co er it even though all that skin can be a pretty big health hazard in itself. Reguardless i sure am grateful i went through with it anyways as now i can work with rescuing and training dogs. I dont know how i ever lived without my rescues, every single one. 😊😊

This is my primary reason why I converted to becoming a Vegetarian and occasionally vegan, I’ve always struggled with my weight, I remember one time my doctor told me because of genetics I’m inclined to become a big person, so I exercise every week and watch what I eat. Our bodies wasn’t made to carry this much weight it takes a toll on your body, and joints. I figured you can eat but moderation with what you eat is the key and minding what you eat and drink, and move , move, our bodies were made to move .

This reminds me when I was on my own weight loss journey. I am totally blind, and have been on able to see since I was 15. in May 2022 I was 6 feet two and 275 pounds, 14 weeks later, I was down to 183 through insane cardio and a regiment I would never recommend to anyone. but I was so tired of being overweight, and I wasn’t gonna let blindness take away my desired results.

In the 90s a woman I knew from working on the El Toro marine Corps Base had gastric surgery. I hadn’t seen her in a year or so and we ended up in standing in line for something going on, on the base. She looked at me and said, “you don’t recognize me.” I said no, and when she told me her name, I was blown away. She lost at least 250 pounds.

I was 252 lbs at 25, had gastric band surgery. After cockiness or incompetence of the surgeon, a simple keyhole surgery turned life threatening with a temperature of 44.1°c and septicaemia as well as removal of the band. I am wheelchair bound have been since I got over being bed bound in February 2010 (25 and half) 14 years later I still can't and will never again walk i am 182lbs People with a lot of weight need treatment for the cause not the aftermath. I wanted a quick and easy weight loss and thought it would make me happier to be thin, instead it made it so much worse! I actually don't have a life anymore

I've been morbidly obese in the past. I got that way by literally trying to find "love/comfort in the fridge! That feeling, that is temporarily quenched, at best, just doesnt last, or work! Once you get to your own perception of what "big" is, even the idea of losing all that weight seems impossible to attempt, never mind about achieve! What is needed is the ability to "block" the negative thinking yourself or via counselling AND stop the people who are "enabling" you!!!! THINK POSITIVE! I sellected a high protein plan - "The CSIRO eating plan" (not a "diet) & started walking!!! Good luck!

I was overweight most of my life, but only by 70 pounds. Was diagnosed with diabetes. Started on an SGLP2 agonist to help insulin work better in my body. I’ve lost 35 pounds already just from the medication decreasing my appetite. And thanks to Covid. I’ve lost my taste for many different foods. And some smell. All good. It really is helping because I am disabled and find it is much easier on my joints. And yes, it is an addiction. Sweets and salt all trigger the same pleasure centers in the brain as drugs and alcohol. The difficulty is that one just can’t stop eating. It’s hard to stop sweets and salt. Literally withdrawal like drug withdrawal.

I was a Registered Nurse for 18 years before my back injury forced me to quit. My heaviest patient was 633 pounds. Surprisingly he could walk with the help of a walker. I asked him once how he got to be so big. He told me that he was always a big guy at 5'10" and 300 lbs. growing up. Then he got a staph infection in his legs that made him bed bound for 7 years. Once that happened, he said it was a downhill spiral from there and he got depression and then diabetes from all the excess weight. I always wondered what happened to him after we sent him to specialty weight loss nursing home.

I don't understand how people can do that to themselves. I'm 5'2", and when I hit 186 pounds, I couldn't even tie my shoes without getting winded! I lost about half of my weight, and hit 96 pounds before it leveled off at 110. I've stayed at 110 now for the last 20 years. No special diets, just sensible lifestyle changes and healthier food choices.

Oh my god, a person is already obese, bedridden, suffers from a stroke… and somebody is still bringing them huge amounts of food! That is plain and simple abuse of a vulnerable and disabled person! People should have been arrested for doing those things. No matter the responsibility one has for getting obese, they should be treated if they are willing to put in the work, and in any case not abused.

You'd be surprised how crafty and manipulative an addict is. And what's worse? Those people that they've pushed that far into being enablers all have basically given up on them. It's basically like the same thing as a heroin addict getting up to the dopefiend larceny to such an extent you as a parent or friend are basically giving them drug money and buying them needles and secretly feeling bad and hating yourself for secretly hoping they finally just die. This is actually one of the cruelest, most worse things you can do to another as an addict, and no one ever talks about it but it is basically the same thing as being in a war and hearing your comrade crying all night, wounded and dying, and just sort of hoping that he finally dies already. It's a terrible sort of feeling and it happens because you've given up on them. Make no mistake a fat person is centrally a food addict. They've already given up on themselves and constantly have to lie to themselves and others and minimize and rationalize it. Look up Steven Assanti. He's one of the most blatant cases. It's partly why any really severe problem behavior gets you labelled and shunned, because like a junkie, they come with all these other traits usually, and like how someone says he's a "degenerate gambler" it's because of all the other stupid shit and character traits that come with an excessive behavior. So like if you're that down the barrel on being a drunk, odds are you've already let yourself slip into minimizing, rationalizing, and manipulating behavior toward others. It's a great deal of probably emotional pain and psychological damage these fat people need to heal from in order to be whole again.

WOW! 😮 I remember the first time that I ever saw an extremely obese person on TV. It was a guy named Walter. He was so big that they had to take him out through a hole cut through the wall I believe! His sister was his caretaker, and she enabled him way too much, buying him mucho Big Macs and fries all through the week! What I don't understand is, how do people allow themselves to become 300, 400,600 pounds! I can gain 10 pounds and can't zip my pants and whoa, uhh-uhh this ain't working! No pizza for you this month. Gotta get back on that walking hike! I'm used to being a certain size, and when I go over that, I'm not a happy camper. I like being fit. So I couldn't see myself being anywhere near that. I like sweets too a lot, but I know my limits. There's got to be a cut off button like looking in the mirror or something, and curbing their appetites. Because just letting yourself go and ballooning like that ain't cutting it.

Once they are too fat to walk, surely they would lose weight? Somebody must continue to feed them?

Are they all `big boned` then ? A friend of mine used to (according to her), be big boned before she lost A LOT of weight. Her skeleton was just the same before as after.
