All great foods! One way I have of making the pea salad: frozen peas (no need to thaw), ranch salad dressing, diced garlic, shredded cheddar cheese,. salted red skin peanuts. Just mix all together and let sit, stirring occasionally until peas are thawed. All done!

I dunno, I lived thru the 70s and I went on a lot of picnics, but most of the Narrator's food descriptions I never heard of being put together for a picnic. I'm from the Washinton States and our picnic fare was normally Fried Chicken and Potato Salad & maybe a lettuce salad. Also, hotdogs roasted over an open fire, also Marshmellows toasted over the fire.

1. i can certainly live without, and have always felt that way. 2 chicken salad was very common in my family even in the '50's.

I grew up eating Jello salads/desserts and I still make them. And yes, I still make ambrosia salad and Watergate salad.

As a little girl the staples of life were Plumrose ham, Wonder Bread, Land o Lakes American cheese, and Pepsi. The occasional cookie was welcome.

actually, saw mini quiche in the grocery store's frozen food section just a few wks ago.

My husband loves Deviled eggs, but I don't. So, he gets them only when we go to Granmas for a pitch-in.

Cole slaw is my favorite today. 2024. Like slaw on BBQs, served hot and was a hot taste.
