The only one I actually remember is Howard Johnson's. When my grandparents would travel to upstate New York for a couple weeks each summer, we'd always stop at Howard Johnson's on the way up and on the way back. I guess it wasn't that special, but I was always amazed at the fact that I could order French toast and bacon in the middle of the day. My grandfather even had an HO scale Howard Johnson's model for his railroad. The food chain I want back is Roy Rogers. I loved their bacon cheeseburgers. In fact, I don't know what they did differently, but I've never found any other place that makes bacon cheeseburgers that taste as good. When I make my own, they come out a pale imitation of the ones from Roy Rogers. :(
