I was born in 1960 and I don’t want to go back, I remember Vietnam Nam on television every night, the gas crises, double digit inflation, horrible pollution, people seem to have selective memory, everything wasn’t puppies and rainbows. The only reason I would like to go back is I would be younger and farther from the end of my life.

As someone born in 1953, I remember all of them. Burger Chef was my favorite. In my early teens, my family lived about 1/4 mile from Willow Grove Park in Pennsylvania and there was a Burger Chef right across the street from the park. I downed many a Super Shef (sic) sandwich there. Good memories.

I loved Arthur Treacher's. It was about two blocks from my house in the 1980's, and I'd get off at the bus stop in front of it to go for an inexpensive meal between coming home from college and going to work 2nd shift. When they closed, Long John Silvers was similar, but not the same. Now, even those are few and far between

There was at one time a peach, and, strawberry and, several other flavors of those short cakes, at Frisch’s Big Boy but, now there’s only chocolate but, they still have strawberry 🍓 pie babies and, strawberry cheese cake! In the South East it’s known as Frisch’s which they are starting to go out of business as well but, there is one by where, I live is up and, running and, it though has went down hill badly! Last time, I was in there, a elderly gentleman told them his sandwich wasn’t cooked right, the waitress told him, she’d bring him out another one, well, he just up and, left! Then, on top of my burger not being cooked right, my onion rings were all burnt and, I had to wait on my bus a while so, they went and, got me another order and, sure enough it was just as bad as the first meal. After that, I haven’t been back, it’s pretty pathetic that they hired a young guy that told them he could cook and, they took his word for it, he couldn’t even get a frozen meat patty cooked all the way through and, he wasn’t able to cook half of the food that the waitresses had to serve to their customers!

As a Brit living in Texas I sure wish Arthur Treachers was still here. Could just fancy a good F and C right now.

Loved Steak and Ale. When we would go after work to celebrate, and up to a point the food was always good, then it started to go downhill FAST

American Memory, I Like your channel. I was a 1970's little kid ! The big ones I personally miss are Howard Johnsons, Arthur Treachers Fish and Chips, Sizzler and Burger Chef. Howard Johnsons and Arthur Treachers fish and chips are the two I miss the most!

Grew up in a small NE Ohio town. Had both Arthur Treacher's and Ponderosa. Loved going to Ponderosa with my mom, dad and 2 brothers. It was a real treat when we got to go there. Loved Red Barn also and miss these restaurants!! ❤️❤️

In Idaho falls Idaho, we used to have a Shakey's, bonanza and Arthur treachers. All are gone now. But there is still a sizzler restaurant, but expensive to eat there.

We had a Ponderosa restaurant nearby in 1970s Toronto, Canada. I remember loving the all you can eat salad bar, barely had room for the main course.
