I’m 67 and we did hot pies. My husband and I did them when we camped too. Nothing better than a pie made over the campfire.

Forgotten? We do almost every one of these foods every summer including pan flatbread, cornbread and campfire pizza. But "Walking Tacos" ??? Never did that but sounds like something my Daughter would make up.

There's a current argument on the internet as to the origins of walking tacos some people say it was created in Texas during the 1980s While others insist it was created by incarcerated inmates in prisons during the 1960s or 1970s. I have no idea which is true, but if you look up custom prison meals on RU-vid, you will see just how innovative incarcerated prisoners can get with the food stuff they have access to😅

Walking tacos? My grandfather did not have bags of Doritos? Trout, biscuits, chili, beans yes. Doritos? Not in his time and never done in mine. Seen kids do something like it at a gas station with nacho cheese and chili from a dispenser

I have seen some recipes where crackers or hardtack go into a stew. The goal of hardtack in stew is to make them less crunchy though.

Collecting wild berries for pancakes or using a little flour to make berry cobbler was good reason an afternoon hike.

Saw an old fashioned percolator in there. Almost the same model my dad/mom made coffee every morning in.

I cook a bag of potatoes in the fire on first night of camp. Makes for great hash browns over the course of the trip.

I don’t think any of these are forgotten foods. We still do most of them at the camper.

Forgotten? Every item here is still common, normal, camp food. Disappointing video.
