Batflix - Bringing you the best Baseball and MLB content about your favorite baseballplayers on RU-vid.
The nostalgic sound of a bat hitting the ball, the aroma of freshly mowed grass, and the delight of savoring Cracker Jack during a baseball game all embody the essence of America's favorite pastime. The enduring appeal of baseball can be traced back to its rich history and the game's
unwavering essence over time.
Fascinatingly, even if your great-great-grandfather were magically transported to today's stadium, he would likely have no trouble following the modern game, thanks to its seamless continuity across generations.
This unique feature allows for more straightforward comparisons between players from different eras, which is precisely what I will be attempting to do here. Let's embark on this journey and see where it takes us!

I suppose it depends on weather or not one takes is Japanese career into account. If he had played in the majors from the start, he would've easily beaten Rose in the all time hits list, and would be in the running for (no pun intended) career stolen bases, singles, put-outs, runs, etc ..

@@hoppy23 He didn't make the top 20 because he isn't even in the top 50. No counts, no rates, a poor runner and worse fielder. However, he WAS a great batter for average and power, but, that's about it. Consider that Mantle, for example, beats him in literally every single (era-adjusted) category, esp in counts and black-ink, and was a 5-tool player, rather than Albert's 2! (Not that I'd kick A.P. off of my team, but he just isn't a historic-level player.)

I think you must have a catcher on here. Johnny Bench or Yogi Berra (I lean Bench because he was such a great fielder and catcher is a fielding-first position.) Or Josh Gibson -- but including NL players opens a whole can of worms. Mike Schmidt (3B) probably also belongs. And as much as I didn't care for him and that he was one-dimensional offensively, Pete Rose. His tenacity and longevity can't be overlooked. As a Cadinals fan wih baseball memories since 1960 or so you included the greatest Cardinals player ever Stan Muial as number 10 which makes me happy. These lists, while fun to argue about, are pretty meaningless. First off, pitchers are really their own thing: you can't compare them to batsmen, and the contribution they make to the team is entirely different. Secondly, you really can't compare players across ages with any kind of validity. Best you can do is pick who were the most dominant players from the different eras. So a guy like Cobb should rank higher, for example, than Aaron, because he was clearly better than anyone else around at the time. Aaron had guys like Mays, Mantle, and Robinson around compiling similar records. But in the end, it's just opinions. BTW, Cobb wasnt the slathering racist monster of legend, not did he sharpen his spikes. The dumb lies shouldn't he endlessly repeated. He was just a really smart and aggressive player, and he was highly respected by his competitors.

Overall, it's a good list. But lets talk #8 and #7? Mantle was broken down by time he turned 33 sure. But Bonds and his "incredible statistics" are insanely inflated AFTER age 35. Like the 268 HRs....AFTER 35. His OPS being .979 through 35, or prior to 2001...which was 1.298 from ages 36 through 42. Or his batting average being .289 through 35 and .334 after roids. Sorry, his "alleged steroid use" as stated in this video. Bonds was great before steroids. But he was no Mickey Mantle.

Honus Wagner at number 12? WHAT!? He is top-five, easily. Bill James had him at number TWO. His 1908 season was the best in history- he league in EVERY SINGLE offensive category except home runs- Hits, walks, steals, singles, doubles, triples, average, slugging, OBP, RBI, etc. (and this was in the dead ball era) AND, he was far and away the best shortstop in the game... Leading in put-outs, double plays, errors, etc. ...And that season wasn't much better than his average seasons- he played for 15+ years, and was productive in all of them. ...12th? C'mon.

I didn't get the comment during the Honus Wagner segment, when u said he had a .328 batting avg. despite playing in the challenging "deadball" era. While it was more difficult to hit homeruns during that era, it was obviously much easier to hit the ball for average. Just look back at the stats from the most succesful players durimg thst era. I mean multiple people would regularly hit over .400 during the same season. The league batting average back then was crazy high, and much higher then the "live ball" era.

Read about the Negro league star Josh Gibson. The few times he played against major league star pitchers, he destroyed them. If he had played in the MLB he probably would have had the most home runs of any player.
@Grizzlied555
@Grizzlied555 2 месяца назад
@@fr2ncm9He did not destroy the mlb. He did not hit well at all against them. But Babe Ruth massacred the negro leagues. He averaged a home run against th around every 7 at bats and batted .455 against them.

Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds don't belong on this list. Josh Gibson, Oscar Charleston and Smokey Joe Williams do. Williams played in an exhibition against major league stars. He went head to head against HOF pitcher Walter Johnson and won.

Pete Rose and Roberto Clemente in place of Rickey Henderson and Ichiro Suzuki . Pete and Ty Cobb probably helped their teams win more games than anyone because they had the most hits . Base hits win ballgames , especially singles . Pete had just as much power as Aaron , as he hit more doubles and triples than Hank . Rickey was one of the most selfish non - team players as he would attempt to steal bases if the Oakland A's were winning or losing by 9 runs just to set stolen base records . That isn't baseball . Rickey's runs scored and stolen bases total should have an asterisk next to them .

Ichiro, Mike Trout, Ricky Henderson, Mantle, Lou Gherig too high; Ted Williams, Barry Bonds too low. Ichiro and Mike Trout are both not top 50 all time. Also, where the hell is Nolan Ryan.

This list is fucked. If you brought Babe Ruth, who was 6’2”, 215 lbs into the modern game, he’d probably be sent down in the first week to AAA, and then eventually, AA. For starters, he’d be small compared to a lot of guys now. Second, he hit most of his carer against two pitch types, with the Slider only appearing in the 30’s. You send someone like Ohtani, who he is compared to a ton, back to 1927, and he’d hit over 100 home runs, plus strike out 400 batters. He has mastery of 6 pitch types, working on a 7th. Plus, Ohtani can throw over 100 mph, when he wants to, as shown by the fact he regularly does so when runners are on 3rd, just to let them know they won’t beat his speed. You didn’t even put Ohtani on this list, and a lot of people would tell you he has an argument as the GOAT, because no one has done what he’s done, at his level. Then, Bonds is on this list. If you are going to include Bonds, technically, he should be number 1. His 2001-2004 seasons make him number one, and it isn’t even fucking close. Most disqualify him based on the use of the juice, but almost anyone that knows about baseball would tell you, if you’re going to include him, he goes above Ruth.

Negro League players are missing (except for Mays and Aaron, who started in the NNLs) So, some of the greatest are missing (maybe even THE greatest- except for Ruth, of course!)- This list is missing, at least, Oscar Charleston, Paige, Pop Lloyd, and Josh Gibson, who were all among the greatest! ...And Cool Papa Bell! Satchel Paige had a sub-3 ERA in the Majors- after his rookie season when he was over 50 years old. In the negro leagues (which were probably as good as the majors in his time), over the years he threw a TON of no-hitters. Not only 7 like Nolan Ryan, not 10, or 15... But 100! (Well, he did pitch around 120 games each year, so he had the opportunity to do so. 100 is still hard to believe, but even if he had one fifth as many... And: Paige would pull a stunt when a game was on the line by waving the outfielders to leave the field- and would proceed to strike out the side... He had a winning record against major league all star touring teams in the off season, too. When Honus Wagner was asked what he thought about Pop Lloyd being called 'the black Honus Wagner', he said 'I'd be honored to be called the white Pop Lloyd!' And, Re: 'Cool Papa's Bell'... A famous baseball writer once said that 'He is so fast, he makes Ty Cobb look like a runner with a handicap!' Josh Gibson had over 800 home runs against MLB quality pitchers- and he died in his prime! And Charleston? He is most like Babe Ruth. (Ruth is still #1, of course!) Also missing from this list is #23.

How is it possible to have a top 20 list without the greatest catcher in baseball history, Johnny Bench? Bench is not only a top 20 he’s in the top ten. I’m also not impressed with three of the biggest cheaters in baseball history, Bonds, Clemons and spit ball Maddox are on this list. Also, having a grad degree in human biology myself anyone who thinks using anabolic steroids and HGH is controversial in regard to the performance gains just simply doesn’t know what they are talking about. That boat sailed a long time ago and there is absolutely solid undisputed scientific evidence that these PED’s do give baseball players substantial advantages.

@@Grizzlied555 You crazy. Catcher is the most important defensive position player on a team and Bench is undeniably the best catcher in MLB history. Not only that he could hit a ton. Most don’t. There has never been a MLB catcher who were as good both defensively and offensively as Bench and he won a ton of games for the Reds by preventing opposing players from advancing or stealing bases. Best there ever was at throwing out base stealers . Definitely a top ten.

Wrong, the steroids increased his bat speed and as a result raised his average and power. He also took HGH which improved his eyesight to that of a twenty year old. If Willie Mays took the drugs Bonds did he would have hit 800 or more home runs and batted 400.

Two known cheaters on the list: Clemons and Bonds. Listing Mantle and Mike (I can't stay on the field) Trout ahead of DiMaggio is beyond ridiculous. Trout, Clemons and Bonds should be off, replaced by Pete Rose, Roberto Clemente and Tom Seaver.
