No, Ohtani probably tries to get his 1st NLMVP as a DH since it will be the 1st of MLB. Ohtani always loves to challenge something new and fulfills new achievements. He is likely aiming for a triple crown too. Besides, Ohtani is still not reaching the stage at fully production for this season yet. He is still heating up his engine and gearing up for next level(you can tell by the 2B last he hit, it supposed to be a HR if he's at max by now). In addition, Ohtani is under rehab pitching program and is still wearing the black arm protector which limits the stretching capacity of his arm. So Ohtani's arm is still not in fully healthy condition like the last 3 seasons before his 2nd arm injury even though Ohtani considers himself finished rehab(from surgery) and is fully activated in hitting jobs.

@@berryleung7288 I know Ohtani would love to be an MVP in the NL as well, but I think his desire for a World Series ring is stronger. I care most about him staying healthy. Because if he stays healthy, he can accomplish even more spectacular things in MLB. Yes, he's still rehabbing to some extent. But I think he's definitely hit his stride as a DH in the last 15 games or so. I expect some occasional slumping, but he's capable of more high-level performance if he can stay healthy. And he's said over the last few years that he enjoys most, and thinks he performs best, when he's able to both pitch and hit in games.

If Ohtani can get batting and homerun crown, MVP should be his even without pitching and as a DH.
