20 Inch Studded Fat Tires - RadRunner Rad Power Bikes
In this video I show how you can use motorcycle tires and stud them for winter use. They fit a 20 inch fat tire bicycle rim (original tires 20 x 3.0 - 20 x 4.0 ) perfectly.
Motorcycle and Bicycles use different wheel diameter references so that a 16 inch motorcycle tire is the same diameter as a 20 inch bicycle tire.

Yes, this works really well on ice and snow! I am definitely more confident riding in winter with this setup. I wouldn't be able to ride safely with the original tires.

@@CanadianWinters yes, as commented above, I tried, and crashed on ice 3 times in one ride.... (broke off the mirror, no other damage other than bruised knees and my pride)

That's awesome, I had a slide and fall on my runner, no damage done but it knocked my confidence a bit. I feel like my stock kendas are decent in the dry and wet grass but in the ice I really don't feel happy on them, I'm just riding very carefully at the moment just waiting to lose grip again it's not nice. I'm wondering whether a motorbike all season tyre might be best for me. Can I ask how heavy you found this tyre?

I am glad you didn't get hurt! These tires are definitely heavier but I am much more confident on snow and ice. The bike is more slow on acceleration with the Shinko tires but it's worth it for me. The studs really make a difference on ice. I can basically ride all year long (I live in Alberta, Canada) to go to work and school. When it will get warmer I'll switch to the original bicycle tires.

how did they perform? Do you have a video? I slid down more than once this last winter on ice on my radrunner plus with factory tires. Those tires are terrible!

They were good for ice all winter. I could have gone with more studs in the rear but was still good. These tires are heavy ( and more sturdy) than regular bicycle tires so battery range decreases (also due to the cold weather). No slides but I ride carefully on icy patches. No video, sorry.
