As a widow of a K-9 handler, there is a special bond between an Officer and his K-9 ! I still have pictures and memoribilia as well as the dogs badge ! The Police Officers and their K-9 are the first to go into situations and sacrifice a lot ! "Don't mess with their K-9's" They are family !!

It’s funny how so many of these “badass” criminals scream like little girls when Officer NomNom takes a bite.

K-9 "Shep" is a fucking Superstar man. I used to watch "Live PD" and anytime a K-9 was involved I always hoped that is was going to have a segment with "Shep". That dog is amazing. He could search for drugs, he could track, he (obviously) could chase and subdue Subjects with ease, and the bond between his handler and him was so strong that you could easily feel it through the television. I never saw a bad guy get away, I never saw him overdo it with a bad guy, and he was always so gentle and playful with kids... just an overall amazing Officer. As a side note I remember watching Shep and his Human go after two bad guys. The Officer went for one, while he was ordering Shep to go after the other one, which he did without hesitation. The Officer got his bad guy and cuffed him. By now Shep was out of sight running down the other bad guy. You could hear and sense the worry in the Officer's voice about Shep and his status. Of course the second guy could be fighting the K-9, with kicks, punches, rocks or even stabbing him! The Officer got his captured guy up and forced him to run while he looked for Shep and the other suspect. Well, the Officer found Shep, who had captured his suspect and was holding him with the bad guy's hand firmly in his mouth, dutifully waiting for his handler. One K-9, one human and two simultaneous arrests...like I said, "Shep" is a fucking Superstar! Cheers Donut. 🇨🇦

My father had a K9 unit and he is a Belgian Malinois. After 7 years of service, he retired and the state let us keep him as a pet. After years and years, he became mostly deaf (Partially from gunshots and mostly from old age) and blind in one eye (From old age). And now he’s a very old Teddy Bear of love that just slowly wobbles around and he’s the cutest. Imagine a retired war vet on the outside but he has a heart of gold on the inside. He’s getting extremely old though, so he could die any day now. I’ll keep you posted. Edit: He is dead. He died at 13 and was the bestest boy.

I know a lot of people are saying that these dog takedowns are unnecessarily violent, but watch this video and consider how often these situations would end in a shooting instead, if there were no dog involved. Lives are saved. Also: That dog taking it on himself to bring down the passenger as he's trying to ambush the officer from behind? Absolutely epic. Better than any Disney movie in the last decade.
