0:00 - Introduction
1. 0:39 {Do you Know of any Biblical Marriage Songs?} I write lyrics for songs and I'm wondering if there are any marriage songs based on biblical theology. I spent years writing one to my wife and it still doesn't work. Looking for examples to follow.
2. 6:00 {About Jude Quoting Enoch} How do you explain Jude’s apparent quote of the book of Enoch in verses 14-15?
3. 9:14 {Was Jesus Dead for Three Days?} According to Matthew 12: 40, Jesus predicted He would be dead for 3 days. But according to Mathew 28:1 and Mark 16:9, it seems this wasn’t the case. Thoughts?
4. 14:50 {About Confession of Sins to Others} Is apologizing to people we’ve sinned against (e.g. lust) always necessary, and if so, to what extent? We must if they know about it, but what if they don't (or are indifferent/hard to contact)?
5. 17:28 {How to Combat Intrusive Thoughts} As a new Christian, I’m constantly bombarded with intrusive thoughts, including blasphemous ones. I feel guilty sometimes and I wonder if it's me thinking these things. How can I combat this?
6. 20:59 {About Apologetics being Used in Fiction} How effective do you believe apologetics can be done in works of fiction (like Narnia) rather than just straight arguments? Should there be more of it?
7. 23:27 {About the 24 Elders} Who are the 24 elders? They are not mentioned in the creation account. Are they a collection of people such as Enoch, Moses, etc.?
8. 28:54 {Understanding a Difficult Verse} Can you please explain Matthew 10:34-39 where Jesus says a man’s household will be his enemy?
9. 34:10 {Can we Only Attend Smaller Groups?} I’m an introvert and have never felt comfortable at large Bible studies with people I don’t know. Do I have to enjoy large group studies? Is it OK to stick to small studies with one or two others?
10. 36:34 {About Evangelism & Guilt/Responsibility} If we don’t share the Gospel with our friends and family, is their blood on our hands?
11. 40:18 {About Imputed Righteousness} Is imputed righteousness synonymous with forgiveness of sins? Or does God require more than just sinlessness (that is to say: a positive ascribed righteousness)?
12. 44:00 {About Jesus Making Himself Eq. w/God} The Pharisees were wrong in much of what they did, so wouldn’t that mean they were also incorrect in thinking Jesus was trying to make Himself equal with God?
13. 48:36 {About Jesus Descending to Hell” If someone believes Jesus had to suffer in Hell for three days after the crucifixion, could they truly be saved? Don't we need to believe it was all accomplished on the cross?
14. 50:23 {Biblical Wisdom for a Tough Family Situation} My mother-in-law is in a gay marriage. My wife has shared the Gospel with her, but she rejects it. Lord willing, we'd like to have kids. Should there be boundaries between the kid/grandma relationship?
15. 52:46 {About Aquinas’ Summa Theologica} Have you ever read or studied the work by St. Thomas Aquinas called "Summa Theologica," and if so, what are your thoughts?
16. 53:44 {About being “In Christ” in Paul’s Letters} In Paul’s prison letters, he uses the phrases “in him, in Christ, and in whom.” He seems to use these a lot in Ephesians 1, but also uses them in Philippians and Colossians. What does it mean?
17. 58:13 {About Jesus being Truly Man} If Jesus was fully man and subject to time and space, how is John 21: 25 possible? Or is it hyperbole?
18. 1:01:30 {How Can We Pray Constantly?} What are some practical ways to practice 1 Thessalonians 5:7? Trying to pray constantly can be draining & discouraging because it feels like there are only so many things I can pray over.
19. 1:07:25 {About the Year of Jesus’ Birth} What year do you believe Jesus was born, and how do you reconcile it with the majority consensus of Herod's death in 4 B.C.?
20. 1:09:44 {Is Lying Ever OK in Rare Circumstances?} What does the Bible say about lying to protect someone? Like if my brother breaks a vase and I say the dog broke it, or if I take the blame for something I didn’t do?
~ Bonus surprise! 1:15:42

If Jesus was born before 4BC (like popular belief among schoolars said it was in 6BC), so when Jesus began his ministry in 29AD, he must been not about 30 years old but already 34 Years Old. it does not made sense. if he was born on 5BC like some middle east Schollar, in 29AD he already about 33 years old.

Thanks to the person who asked about intrusive thoughts and to you Mike for a great applicable answer. I have suffered for so long, doubted if I'm really saved and been embarrassed to tell anyone. I love and listen to Spurgeon and to think he did too. Am so comforted that am not alone.

I too struggle with intrusive, dark thoughts. It grieves me and I will sometimes fall into hyper analyzing why I’m having them. And I’ve come to the conclusion it is partly my flesh and a spiritual attack. My husband’s been so encouraging that just the fact that it grieves me to have these thoughts is a Beautiful sign that I am saved. I know I’m saved. It just feels so gross when I have them that I’m embarrassed before the Lord. I bring these thoughts to the Lord and feel encouraged that He knows my heart❤️ I will be praying for you.

I wanted to add something about the lying question. Mike, I loved hearing about your take on this. I think there is another reason lying is ok. My dad has dementia. My brothers lied to him and I fought it. I hate lying. I thought he deserved whatever time it took to try to help him know and understand things. However, as he progressed I started to lie. Not because I wanted to. But because I saw that my way was starting to hurt him more than help him. He couldnt process all of the information and it would cause him a great deal of upset. I still hate lying to him but I do believe it is best for him. I hope I am not wrong in this
@CourtneyBrimm
@CourtneyBrimm 3 года назад
As a speech therapist who works with dementia patients, I’ll say you are doing the right thing. You aren’t lying to deceive him or to benefit yourself in any way. I often tell caregivers/family members that for the sake of the patient’s quality of life, just play along. Don’t add to it with more unnecessary lies, like adding more details or pretending it’s 1988, but just roll with it. Don’t argue or try to correct them, it’s extremely stressful and does not improve anything. It’s hard on everyone. If you think you’d like more help on how to support your dad, you could seek a consultation for your dad with a speech therapist.

@@CourtneyBrimm Speech therapists work with dementia patients? Can you tell me morr about it, how come? I want to study computer science as a Bachelor but take a lot of linguistics courses alongside, and I'm very interested in cognitive science so I might do a Master's in cognitive science after my Bachelor's. Do you know how that would enable me to work something related to degenerative brain conditions? I wouldn't be a doctor or a therapist with such a Master's, I believe. I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions, and thank you in advance for your insight. :)

Sending prayers for you and your family. 🙏🏻 💗 I don’t think you should feel guilty. There are circumstances in which lying is the best option, and it seems yours is one of them.
@CourtneyBrimm
@CourtneyBrimm 3 года назад
@@essennagerry I’m afraid I don’t know much about cognitive science and/or how it may relate to dementia and speech therapy. Psychologists often do very in-depth cognitive testing and can be part of identifying/diagnosing dementia along with neurologists. As a speech therapist, we also do cognitive-linguistic testing (not as in depth as psychological testing) to identify strengths and weaknesses in the earlier stages of cognitive impairment. Therapy is more about compensation and management as opposed to rehabilitation or fixing the impairment since it is progressive. Often we work with families/caregivers to understand how cognitive impairment affects communication and related quality of life aspects. There are courses at the bachelors degree level and masters and PhD. All undergraduate courses are geared toward either working as a speech therapy assistant or as prerequisite for master’s programs. While linguistics certainly has some similarities in scope as speech-language pathology, the latter is really about functional communication. Working with all ages from birth to elderly, on speech (articulation/stuttering/phonology), language (content, function, etc.), voice disorders, swallowing/feeding and cognition.

I struggled with that too, and thought I wasn’t saved because of those thoughts. When I told my mom, she gave me advice similar to Mike’s. That really helped me a lot, and I’m happy to see it helps you. Christians suffer from intrusive thoughts a lot, but often don’t talk about it.

I think the most accurate way to think of introverts and extroverts is that introverts are energized by being alone and drained by being around people and extroverts are energized by being around people and drained by being alone. Plus, it's a spectrum with most people somewhere in the middle.

One I heard Dolly sing.. I think it's called True Blue, but my favorite part is "For love when it is true is neither selfish, vain nor proud. Love when it is true can speak in silence or out loud, and it passeth understanding and endureth for all time. The greatest of God's treasures, true love so rare to find. It knows no boundaries, it is gentle, it is sweet. Giving and forgiving. Trusting and complete..." Good and Godly music can be found but you have to look pretty hard and it is great that people want to write more. Too many folks have love and sex all mixed up.

Love song I wrote for my wife: "Right Here" There is no length of time that could leave behind this moment And no dark cell where I wouldn’t see your face But still I want more I’ve been running round trying to hear you in this silence A melody so sure it stops the heart to wait for just once more But I am not afraid I’ve got you right here next to me Not afraid,not afraid, not anymore I am not afraid, I can almost feel you now In my arms, breathing hot against me And how could this be? I wake up Arms are holding only sheets How can I look at this world without the memories, the plans ahead How can I see your smile without pushing into your lips I know that you were right here, inspiring me with your bravery You were right here, and one day here you’ll stay So I am not afraid, I’ve got you right here next to me Not afraid, not afraid, not anymore I am not afraid, I can almost feel you now In my arms, oh your cheek’s against my cheek How can this be? Another day begins with only me How can I lose my faith? I’m all in The days won’t sway me How can I lose my faith? Nothing is lost in this pursuit And in the end what could be worse than losing you? There’s no length of time that could leave behind this peace I’ve found in you No storm that could hide the light you’re leaving on And even buried in this reckless soul A chord remains that won’t let go And I am not afraid Not anymore

Yes. "I Will Be Here" was absolutely huge in its day. I've always loved the fun of "I Wanna Tell the World" that MWS wrote for his wife. "Attitude of Gratitude" by Teri DeSario was sung at my wedding. Another song that came to mind was "That Kinda Girl" by DC Talk, which is more about a single guy longing for a wife and what he's looking for. Worship music is great and necessary, but there should also be a place for Christian Pop music to present the life experiences of the Christian.

"If you could see what I see" by Geoff Moore and the Distance. Sung at my wedding. All of my life I have dreamed That somehow love would find me Now i can't believe you're standing here If beauty is all In the eye Of the beholder then i Wish you could see The love for you that lives in me (Chorus) And you would know you have my heart If you could see, what i see That a treasure's what you are If you could see, what i see Created to be The only one for me If you could see, what i see I know there are days When you feel So much less than ideal Wondering what i see in you It's all of the light And the grace Your belief in me drives me to say That i promise you A faithful love, forever true (Chorus) If you could see Then you'd understand Why i fall down to my knees And i pray my love Will be worthy of The one who gave his life So our love could be If you could see What i see(x2) You're created to be The perfect one for me If you could see What i see If beauty is all In the eye Of the beholder then i Am beholding... True beauty

Thank you again for some great teaching. It was so interesting to hear you answer too ”If we don’t share the Gospel with our friends and family, is their blood on our hands?” (36:34). I was asked this question myself the other day. I agree with your answer. It is not just the Ezekiel 33 which implies that there is blood on your hands when you do not share. Also Acts 20:26. Paul says here because he has shared their blood is not on him. Which would clearly apply that if he had not it would have been. You are so right to point out that the guilt of no sharing is covered by the blood of Christ for believers. So there is no condemnation for those who do not share, there is no condemnation in Christ. However, Scripture is clear there is judgement for rewards in heaven and you will lose out on reward by failing to be the messages of reconciliation Christ has called you to be.

Answer on #4 was so good! Just what I was thinking for advice. I would add that a lot of the time when we want to apologize for something, it is more for our conscience than for the person we committed the sin against. Like you said, our hearts like to make a provision for sin in some underlying sense. Wise advice to take it straight to God.

To question 4. You hit the nail on the head!!! Some ppl want to confess as a way of satisfy the flesh. Many pastors and preachers have been victimized with this type of deceitful "confession" Therfore this reason for confessing should be taught OPENLY in the church BY the leaders of the church.

Mike, I would like to say.....you are by far so inspiring and so awesome on biblical scriptures ....love how you don't force the thought on us....but rather you give it in a honest way that is not by forced opinion...but rather for a thought of instruction for us to think on ..... Also love that you actually pull up the biblical scripture and read it word by word and not add any other words to it.... Rather you just give your awesome thought after the full verse is read.... Again...your awesome....and I thought I share my thanks to your work.... I been watching your videos ....and your videos are super inspiring to me ... Thanks again, Joseph

I love what you’re saying about content. Ruslan and quite a few other artists who are on RU-vid have mentioned this. There’s a need especially for Christian artists that are trying to develop their skills and get noticed by consumers to make as much content as possible. Back in 2013 when I started listening to Christian rap there was not a lot to go off of you had Cross Movement some Lecrae some Tedashii some Trip Lee but there wasn’t a lot else. Now we have everything from kosher rap is what I’m calling it to straight up biblical-based rap. I would say that’s the dichotomy between Joey Vantes and Stephen Levite.

Plumb does a bunch of love songs on her albums. My favorite is the one that goes “I’m going to fight for you, even if I have to fight with you. That’s what you gotta do when you love someone” 🤣 Marriage in a nutshell. 🤣🤣 She does one about her wedding night that’s pretty steamy. It’s not graphic but I still can’t even decide if I should allow my kids to listen to it. 🤣 it’s funny because before I got married, I didn’t think too much of it, but after I’m like 😳. Which is funny too because I totally wasn’t a virgin when I got married. Somehow, it’s still different. 😳🤷🏼‍♀️

The “Book of Enoch,” IMHO, has been beaten to death like an old, sodden rug. Not trying to be snarky, but I surely wish listeners would watch all of your episodes before posing a repetitive, redundant question. I know it’s up to you, Pastor Mike, and your mods, which questions you accept, but I’m being selfish and want to hear topics that I’ve never learned before. May God work as He will. Someone apparently needed to hear that portion of your content again… and again and again. Lord bless you all. ❤😊

In reference to Question #6, there is a great fantasy series called The Licanius Trilogy by James Islington. In book 3, the reader is introduced to a character called Raeleth that presents a very compelling and theological argument in favor of the god of that universe, which he worships and submits his life to. In fact, Raeleth uses many real world apologetics, which led me to believe that this was anything but unintentional. I ended up reaching out to the author and, much to my surprise, I received a response back confirming that he is in fact a devout Christian and that he has woven those elements into his fiction in hopes to "get people thinking about deeper and more meaningful things." I'm personally a big fan of this series, but seeing how delicately and respectfully he handled topics of faith, and to hear him say that this was an intentional addition, I feel completely justified in recommending this series far and wide.

I'm an artist and I work in parables and allegories. You wanna write a love song? Have you ever noticed that many love songs are similar to worship songs? Marriage itself was created as an image of Christ and the Church. Draw inspiration from that! You never know, Your love song could kill 2 birds with one stone and be a symbol, ultimately, of our union with Christ and in that regards also be a worship song! Two bodies coming together is almost the most intimate thing we can experience... How much more intimate is it that God puts His Holy Spirit in us, as we produce fruits from that union?
