Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference:
0:00 - Introduction
1. 0:28 {How the Jewish Bible is Different} Why aren't there Bibles with the Hebrew order of the Old Testament? Some say the Hebrew order helps to show additional context and beauty of the Prophets and writings within Israel’s history. Any reason to stick to the English order? If either is fine, why aren’t there options?
2. 14:15 {Advice - Tough Marriage/Divorce Situation} Regarding divorce, you mentioned that verbal/emotional abuse is only a valid justification when it is extreme. How do we think biblically about what God would consider to be extreme? I'm finding it hard not to doubt my own perceptions, but my husband is in complete denial. Also, where the husband has essentially separated from the wife within the marriage, is it still not permissible to remarry?
3. 19:43 {About the “Faithful & Discreet Slave”} Can you explain how we should properly interpret Matthew 24: 45-47? I know Jehovah’s Witnesses think it’s referring to their governing body, but I’d like your opinion.
4. 25:46 {Can Sin be Subjective At Times?} Sin is objective, but isn't it sometimes subjective? For example, you may be convicted of a certain activity and won't do it, but I do, or vice versa…and how modesty is different around the world.
5. 30:21 {Are there Really “Accidents”?} Are there really accidents? For example, a freak car accident? How do we square God’s will with what might seem like a totally random event or “accident”?
6. 33:26 {How to Quickly Defend Christianity} Please teach us to talk about why Christianity is true (3-5 points in 2-3 minutes).
7. 41:44 {Can we Write Jesus into Games or Stories?} I'm a hobbyist/game developer and have started making Bible themed games. I want to include Jesus in one of my projects, but I feel uncomfortable writing words for Him. Any advice? Can I even do this?
8. 45:10 {About the Natural Condition of Man} I've heard you say that you don't agree with any of the points in TULIP. What do you believe about the natural condition of man?
9. 49:18 {Can There Be Differing Interpretations of Scripture?} If the word “clear” is used to describe a teaching in the Bible by two Christians with opposing views on the same teaching, wouldn’t that void the effectiveness of using the word in that way?
10. 50:58 {Trusting God in Very Difficult Times} Do you have any advice for dealing with a miscarriage? It’s the first time in my life where I’ve been angry at God. I know He’s sovereign, but it’s difficult to accept right now.
11. 54:56 {Does James Teach Guaranteed Healing?} Does James 5: 14-15 say that a sick person should ask elders to pray for him and he will be always healed? The text seems to be quite straight forward on this.
12. 1:01:48 {Can we Give to Non-Christian Causes?} Thoughts on charitable giving to organizations that I'm passionate about but aren't overtly Christian? Even if it's above my normal tithe, is this "taking money away" from Kingdom advancement?
13. 1:03:37 {Is There a Contradiction?} The Synoptics seem to indicate that the Feeding of 5,000 took place on the Sea of Galilee's West side (Mark 6:30-56), but it seems to take place on the East side in John 6. How do we resolve this?
14. 1:04:58 {Is Worrying a Sin?} Is worrying (stress/anxiety) a sin? If so, could you provide some thoughts on the reasons you think it is?
15. 1:10:51 {Is it Wrong to Visit an Unbiblical Church?} Is it wrong to attend a “prosperity gospel” church with our in-laws when we visit them?
16. 1:11:59 {Protecting Children from Bad Teaching} My Hubby was raised Mormon. He still believes it all but isn't active. His family takes my son to church if he stays with them & they've started teaching him LDS doctrine. I want to not let him go anymore w/out hurting them. Advice?
17. 1:14:49 {Is “Entire Sanctification” Biblical?} What are your thoughts on Entire Sanctification? Could a Christian eventually live a life without sin through God's power? If not, shouldn’t we shoot for it anyway?
18. 1:18:39 {Was Christ Nailed to a Tree or Cross?} I’ve heard some Christian songs say Christ was nailed to a “tree” instead of a cross. Would you happen to know why the two terms are interchanged?
19. 1:22:18 {Why Does Lot Offer His Daughters?} In Genesis 19:6-8, why does Lot offer his own daughters to the wicked people of Sodom?
20. 1:28:32 {About Forgiveness When We Sin} When Christians sin, are they condemned again until they ask for forgiveness?

I have a question about John the baptist …………john the baptist being “ the witness “, greatest among man born out of a woman” according to jesus himself..…and in John 1:32 “ Then John gave this testimony: “I SAW the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. 33 “And I myself did not know him, BUT THE ONE WHO SENT ME to baptize with water TOLD ME, ‘The man on whom YOU SEE THE SPIRIT come down and remain IS THE ONE who will baptize with the Holy Spirit. 34 “ I HAVE SEEN AND I TESTIFY THAT THIS IS GOD’S CHOSEN ONE.”………. But…..,after this, when john the baptist is in prison, john the baptist SENDS messengers to jesus to ask him if he ( jesus ) is the one or that they should wait for someone else……..Luke 7:18 “Then the disciples of John reported to him concerning all these things. 19 And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, “ARE YOU THE COMING ONE, OR DO WE LOOK FOR ANOTHER? ” 20 When the men had come to Him, they said, “John the baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’ ”……..??!!! Why did John do this…….?? Very confusing!!!

You just gave a really great explanation for the experience I had when my son drowned 15 years ago and was miraculously, completely healed. I believe the Holy Spirit guided my prayers and gave me a peace that my son was going to be ok no matter if he survived or not. I learned so much about God and it completely changed my relationship with Him in that one prayer which was actually more like a conversation that we had together.

I haven't listened to Mike's answer yet, but i had one stillborn and then i lost another child later at one month old. I did go through grief and many emotions, and very difficult ones at that. But when thinking and praying about all this, the same occured to me. My babies were ok. Now, when someone asks me how i got through it all, i always remind them that i have four kids, healthy and here. Its them i worry about. The other two, though i still feel sad sometimes, they are ok and i know they are.

Pastor Mike, in response to question 11 about the James passage I just want to say that when my husband was dying of cancer, I felt led to go to the elders of our church, and the vicar (we are Anglican) and asked them to pray over my husband.. we had a beautiful time of prayer, and I believe my husband was healed, but he still died a few months later. So what do I mean by he was healed? After that prayer time my husband was filled with such peace, hope and strength to face his death. To me/us that was a profound healing. Thanks for all you do, I watch every video. God bless you.

@Jacqui Clarke What a beautiful testimony! Thank you for sharing in spite of your grief. My deepest condolences. A wise, kindly old priest once told me, 'Prayer wasn't given to convince God or change His mind. It is intended to change ours, and us.' Your comments opened me up to remember that in a much more profound way. Thank you!

My wife and I have gone through three miscarriages over the 6 yrs we’ve been married. The most recent one was last year. This answer hit home hard. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t angry at God but I’m not really sure cause my emotions were all over the place. I probably was. To end on a good note, the third time we got pregnant, between miscarriages two and three, ended with us being blessed with a healthy son who will be three next month. I do believe I’ll see my three other children when I get to Heaven.

@@madinahcolakoglu9200 Hi Madinah ~ one thing about reading God's Word (and I constantly have to remind myself of this) is that our first impression almost always fails to grasp the full meaning in all it's depth. The historical context, individual personalities and characteristics of people spoken of/quoted, translation, insight etc -- all these things and more can affect our understanding, or lack of understanding. So, that being said, I would like to take a closer look at the context surrounding those passages -- no bible nearby right now but hopefully we can get back to that. Does it say anything else about John's disciples? Maybe they were unsure, so John sent them to hear for themselves. Or they reported others having doubts, and so after hearing it from Jesus himself the disciples could go out and speak on John's behalf, since he was imprisoned. Remember, John's purpose was to prepare the people for Jesus. It does seem to fit, then, that even while they tried to stop his work, John still found a way to get the message out: He (Jesus) IS the one.

Thank you so much for answering my question (#7)! 1) Yes, I get Camp-bell a lot, I'm pretty much used to it at this point. People also do it with my first name and they pronounce it eye-n. 2) I'm aware I am walking on thin ice with this game idea. If I go through with my idea, the appearance of Jesus will be super short. A short textual dialog back and forth with the player. This is followed by an opportunity for the player repent from their sins and turn to Jesus. The entire game hinges on that scene. I know the moment I want to create, I just needed to know if it was possible. I've included Biblical themes before in projects, such as with one I made earlier this year called Armor of God. I took a lot of care to make sure everything was as correct as it could be. I am bringing the same level of care, if not more, to this game. 3) I am trying to pull as many direct quotes from the Bible as possible as well as apologetic answers to questions the player can ask. 4) I'll definitely add a disclaimer to the beginning of the game, regardless of what I'm going to do. I'm also considering swapping Jesus out for an Angel, I think that would take away some of the impact but could protect me more (maybe?). 5) I've talked with a few other people and they've encouraged me in a similar way. I will be careful with false teaching as that is my major concern. I'm planning on having a number of people from my church review what I'm going to write to make sure it is accurate. 6) If I do another project like this, I will most likely go with the Allegory as it will save me a lot of stress and worrying. Thank you so much, God Bless!

Ian, I too have struggled with the seeming conundrum of implementing scripture into a story or game and chose to employ the use of the parable. It allows for thought-provoking narrative that is inline with scripture hopefully leading them toward the Truth. Totally agree with Mike's point about allegory. The Lord bless you and your project!

Dear Ian, there is a big game project which goes in production right now: ONE of 500 is the name of the game. It's produced by Lightword Production. You might be interested to follow the project. Btw. I am the sound guy. 😉 We go with the handling of Jesus, by the rule like: letting the bible content untouched and we tell a fictive, parallel story with the biblical telling and make meetings of these two stories in multiple points to get the right context together.

Thank you for your ministry. I deal with psychological anxiety of “what if I am not really saved and all this is just self deception?” The problem is that I cannot identify clear lifestyles of open sin that would raise this question, just general paranoia when I am aware of how much I fall short. The issue of resting and belonging to Christ is so important to me that many nights in my life I just don’t sleep. Just reach out hoping he wants me more than I realize and to just trust him I have found that this happens in cycles and can often feel like a cancer in my walk. I will still seek God daily in my prayers and readings, but can have terrors of being still somehow someway unforgiven All that to say, your older video on a condemning conscience is very helpful to me. I have resolved that even in this mental sickness, I will pursue the Lord anyways. Why ever stop?

I should add that the idea that I can still be in Christ trusting him and not feeling peace is really liberating. I used to think my constant anxiety was more proof that I wasn’t a genuine christian because true Christians always feel peace

I feel ya man. I have gone through amazing seasons of worship and peace and nearness to God, and am in the middle of a season of radical reorienting to God after some complacency in my life. I can be a very paranoid person and doubt my own sincerity based solely on “but what if” and not clear evidence. My revival of my faith was tied to just simply reading the bible chapter by chapter in 2019 and finding this channel
@samuelbarns118
@samuelbarns118 2 года назад
That is such a difficult thing to have to deal with, but I really appreciate your openness and honesty in sharing your struggles, you have no idea how many people might actually be helped, even if just by knowing they are not alone in feeling that way. Assurance is something that I think most honest Christians deal with at some point in their walk. I've actually written at some length on this topic in the past, but in the interest of keeping this readable... Just know that your eternal destiny doesn't rest upon how well you've done anything. I'm sure you're already aware of this, but it's so important for our own spiritual growth (not our salvation) that we grasp this fully. It's about trusting Jesus, really trusting Him, and that includes trusting Him with our failers, our doubts, our lack of faith and just, our lack of trust. To lay it all on Him, and say "I can't do this, but I trust that you can, so even when I doubt you, even when I feel like my faith is flickering and barely there, that no matter how I feel, I believe that you died for all of it and that you will keep me even when I feel like I've lost it" My favourite verse in the whole of the Bible: "But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me." No matter what weakness we may have, His grace is sufficient for us. We fail and fall, we can't 'make it', we doubt, we worry, but that's the point, that's what Jesus is for. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Anyway, I'll stop rambling... I pray some of that may be of some help, and that you are blessed with peace in this area.

I'm glad you shared this. I feel like this a lot, wondering whether I've gotten saving faith or just believed in my head about Jesus. Regarding the "faith healing" question, I have learned recently that it is so important to have faith in a person, and not just faith in an outcome. For a long time I was stuck mentally in the rut of trying to convince myself that a certain outcome was going to happen when I prayed, because that's what I thought I was supposed to do based on the scriptures, but it wasn't relational at all. Faith doesn't just mean to believe with all your heart that healing will happen, like Mike mentions many people have done without success (myself included). It means to put trust in the person of Jesus, and that trust is what drives you to and through prayer. If you are convinced it is going to happen, you believe that not because you mentally decided to believe it, but because your trust in the person, character, and nature of Jesus drove you to that conclusion.

About miscarriages, I've had 2 and they were both the most painful experiences I've ever been through. Even losing my dad was not as bad as the pain from the miscarriages. There's a lot of guilt and shame, "Is it my fault, could I have done anything differently?" And having to tell people about it, oh my word, many people say the wrong things, "You can always try again.... It will work out next time." Really not helpful but I know they were well-intended. I was angry at God for both miscarriages, more so for the second than the first. With the first I had just given my life to God and I hurled all my angry questions at him. He did answer me and provided me with the comfort that I needed, although it was many months before I could think about it without crying. The second time around I was really confused. I had been blessed with a baby after the first miscarriage but life had dramatically changed. My friends had left me because of my faith, some other friends I had to walk away from because their lifestyle was too destructive for me to continue to be a part of. The only people hanging out with me were my parents and my husband so for God to take the next baby, I really felt betrayed. Again I threw my anger at God, questioned him, and he did answer. For me it was important to keep talking to God. Even if I was angry, he was completely capable of handling my anger. That was 20 years ago and I'm still with him! I do miss those babies still but I believe I'll see them one day and I have 3 wonderful kids that I know I was meant to have. One last point, and this isn't going to be the reason for everyone, but I know part of the reason why I went through the miscarriages was so that I would have compassion for women that have been through an abortion. I have a couple friends that have had 1 or 2 abortions and while I can't share completely in the pain they are experiencing I can at least understand some of it and walk with them.

I am a week away from the second anniversary of my first miscarriage. I had two miscarriages months apart... pregnant three times in the span of a year. I still feel broken anytime the topic of miscarriage comes up or I remember my first two babies. God truly carried me through those times, even if I felt like He was the most silent He had ever been in my life. I grew a lot in my faith during that time, though, and I know my husband did as well. I never truly became angry at God, but the questions never stopped and I still struggle with how to answer when people ask me if my daughter is my first. I never thought that question could be so difficult. I manage my grief better, but it is still very real. I cannot listen to anything about miscarriage or abortion without crying. I have always been pro-life, but having a miscarriage really opened my eyes to the massive dichotomy Western culture has in regards to miscarriage/ abortion. How can you sympathize with someone who just lost a baby at six weeks, but turn around and be okay with aborting a baby at six weeks and think there is no emotional impact to the mother? I even read a Danish article that said that one way to prevent spontaneous abortions (miscarriage) was to have an elective abortion. Excuse me?? My heart breaks for those women..

I'm thankful that you were able to grow closer to the Lord, as painful as it is I'm still always amazed to see how he brings good out of a painful experience. And I agree, it's difficult explaining to other people. My doctor was reviewing my medical history and she asked how many times I've been pregnant. I said 5 and she did a double take because she knew that I only have 3 kids. I had to remind her that 2 pregnancies ended in miscarriage.

There's a perception that people who get abortions are completely selfish and have no qualms. But there many, I'm sure, who feel the need to give up a pregnancy is forced upon them by uncontrollable circumstances. They may feel their loss is not a choice either and is still upsetting. This sinful world is full of toil and unfairness that can feel impossible to navigate without cause for anger and resentment. But our father has promised an eternal life beyond such hardships available to all who receive his son who died for us. Hallelujah.

I also know there was a very real element where she felt/ feels like she couldn't grieve. It is hard, because there are women that are aware that it is a baby, and there are others that really don't believe it is a baby yet. Yet, both are denied a true grieving because it is their choice, their body. I cannot imagine being in that position.

For Dylan, I miscarried the child who would have been my son's twin. My boy is 8 now and I still struggle with heartache, and deep regret over not giving my son siblings. I don't know whether it gets "easier", but I know this: Every time I choke up with sorrow, my spirit turns more and more towards God. I know that death is a result of sin and it's not God's will, so I know that God sees my sadness and that He is truly the God of all comfort. I remember that He is going to wipe away every tear and in these dark days, we are called to glorify Him in how we *think*. I think with question five “are there freak accidents?”, we humans need to consider the supernatural forces working in heavenly places which influence our lives. Consider Job, where we get the background on the heavenly council discussion beforehand in the text, but Job had no clue why any of that was happening to him. Still part of God’s plan because He had to show Job humility. In Thessalonians, when Paul is stopped from going somewhere he says that “Satan stopped me from going”. That’s the mindset a lot of Christians don’t have.

I have a similar struggle. I found a bible verse recently that helped me so much. It said that by one sacrifice Jesus made perfect for ever those who are being made holy. Hebrews 10.14.. As I read it I realised that I can substitute my name for 'those who are being made holy.' That's me, and you. We are made perfect for all time. Our sins will not be counted against us if we are looking to God and trusting what Jesus did. In the OT those who looked at the bronze snake were cured of the consequences of their sin (the snake bites that were killing them). They were saved from death. So are we if we look to Jesus, lifted up for us like that snake. I find this encouraging. I think instead of fighting not to sin, which directs our thoughts towards the sin, we need to try and look at Jesus on the cross, when we are tempted. That directs us to him and away from the sin. I have sometimes had success with this, although like you I find it a struggle. God knows your heart and your struggle and he is for you and has made provision for you and me. God bless you. PS Have you found Setting Captives Free ministry?

As regards the order of the books in our Bibles, rather than being too concerned as to the 'correct' order it is more helpful to understand the reason each book was written. Just the other week someone at church asked me why Kings and Chronicles followed on one from the other when they're basically covering the same or very similar material. I explained that Kings was written to Judah to explain why God was exiling them to Babylon when all along they believed the promise that God had promised them the land as an eternal inheritance. Chronicles on the other hand was written to encourage the Jews to return to Jerusalem at the end of the exile explaining that they were still God's people and he was still going to work his purposes through them. When it comes to the books of the Bible I found David Pawson's advice helpful that we should know who wrote the book, when it was written, who were the recipients and why was it written. This approach helps us know how the books fit together and relate to one another regardless of the order of the books in any particular Bible. It's useful to know though how the Jews grouped the books together.

Regarding question 5, whether there is really accidents, Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time. People can never predict when hard times might come. @@madinahcolakoglu9200 I'm not sure why you're asking me, but I'll reply anyway. I've always understood it to mean that John, being an imperfect human being, began to doubt. He was in prison, not long after to be beheaded. It's understandable that he would begin to question. The important part is Jesus' response: At this very hour He was healing many of diseases, sicknesses, and evil spirits; and He granted sight to many who were blind. And answering, He said to them, “Go report to John what you saw and heard: the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news proclaimed to them. Blessed is he who is not led to stumble because of Me.” - Luke 7:21-23 TLV This was Jesus reaffirming what John already knew before, but needed reminding of because of the situation and trial he was going through.

For question 10, feel free to write me. My wife and I have been through different stages of miscarriage, a few of them, as well as a very difficult still birth. We felt betrayed, hurt, and angry for a long time, especially my wife. She felt very alone (from God). We were able to work past it, and ask for forgiveness and seek God.

50:58 Dylan, I take it you are using "sovereign" to mean God determines everything that comes to pass. If so, I can certainly understand your anger at God when you think He caused a miscarriage. God being sovereign means He has ultimate authority, not that He determines all that comes to pass. He can work good through your sorrow, He redeems the bad.

I personally do not believe God causes harm. He certainly could and has done so in the past. As for the miscarriage I since we are not perfect both spiritually and physically I believe that something cause the miscarriage. No we have the power of faith to over come many physical diseases and physical ailments. The problem again is our faith. Even though in our hearts we think we have the faith we seldom do. It takes hard work to put that faith to work for us. I shouldn’t have said hard work. I mean it have the faith that Christ had we have to discipline ourselves. That takes a lot of effort on our part to refine our self’s. Christ said that if we had the faith of a mustard seed we could say to a mountain to move and it would move. Sorry to say that my faith can’t even wiggle a leaf. So I have a long way to go. This is why I believe in group prayer. Many people praying that are focused.

I don’t mean to sound trite over such an emotional and hard issue, but have you read Job? I understand why Job became angry with God (I wouldn’t expect to do better), but it was wrong, evil for him to be angry with God for taking away his family. The book of Job teaches that God brought that to pass, though Satan was the direct cause.

@@peterfox7663 I agree that God doesn’t cause everything. God doesn’t cause sin. However, in your comment, you conflated causing and determining things to come to pass. In Job, God initiating a conversation that directed Satan to Job (Job 1:7) fully knowing what Satan would then want to do, and then allowing Satan to do it (Job 1:12), that I would call bringing it to pass. Job was not wrong to say, “The LORD has taken away” (Job 1:21-22), but was wrong to be angry with God for doing so (Job 40:7). Calvinists do not say that God causes everything. Calvinists say that God foreordains everything, brings everything to pass according to his will. However, even non-Calvinists cannot say that it’s reasonable to be angry with God if he brings something to pass that is unpleasant. God took the life of David’s child whom he had in adultery. God does bring hard things to pass, and who are we to be angry with him for it? My concern is that your comment makes it sound like people have the right to be angry with God when he brings hard things to pass. God could even _cause_ a person to die, and yet could we shake our fists at our Maker?
@peterfox7663
@peterfox7663 2 года назад
@@levifox2818 Causing and determining is the same thing when it comes to Calvin or Augustine. God doesn't allow anything - he meticulously determines it all. Maybe you don't think that, but that's consistent Calvinism. They also contradict themselves by saying that God determines everything to happen, yet somehow doesn't make sin happen.

To the person asking about their kids and Mormon family, my husband’s family is Mormon. We love LDS people. ❤ We both are Christian but on the same page. When our kids were young we didn’t really have a close relationship with our Mormon family, but our relationship has become closer over the years. We don’t live in same town, so perhaps a bit different, but here’s what I would suggest. Agree about educating your children about Mormonism, as is what we do but our kids are teens so that’s easier. When in the car together I put on podcasts and videos about Mormonism versus Christianity, critical thinking, and apologetics. For little kids, I would suggest interactions be largely in your presence so you can have knowledge or control of what is being said, at least until they reach an age where you feel comfortable that they are secure in their faith and educated about Mormonism. This would be in addition to what Mike said. While this is an older video, perhaps it will help someone listening after the fact.

Re Q.13 There were 2 "feeding of the multitude"'s. One in Mark 6 on the Jewish side with 5000 where the crowd was fed with 5 loaves and 2 fish , and one in Mark 8 on the Gentile side with 4000. John 6 putst the feeding of 5000 where the crowd was fed with 5 loaves and 2 fish on the Gentile side. It does appear to be a discrepancy but not a major one.

Question for next week: Matthew 5:48 "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." My question is this, perfect has many meanings both the Greek Teleios and the Hebrew Shlamot have meanings besides "without error" such as fit for a purpose, fully mature, or complete. How are we to interpret Matthew 5:48 in light of the those other meanings? Must we always assume that perfect means without error? and how is it possible we humans can be without error?

All 4 of those definitions fit within the LDS interpretation of the verse that we are conditioning ourselves to be fit for a purpose and that eventually we will Be Perfect or complete, as our Father in Heaven is complete. Mike considers this interpretation as umbilical and cancerous...but Christ couldn't have stated it any clearer than He did in Matthew. keep in mind the sermon on the mount was a much higher law than the law of Moses. It's an instruction manual for how God's covenant people should behave and a promise of what they will eventually become if they stay the course. What's interesting is that when the resurrected Christ visits what is now America in the Book of Mormon he gives a similar sermon with a few changes...one is that he says "Be ye therefore perfect l - even as I or your Father who is in Heaven is perfect. Christ had not yet attained his perfection in mortality...and nor have we. I'd be curious to see if Mike can offer you a response that makes more sense or manifests a more loving God than the truth does.

Great material. Re the Jewish bible, Funnily enough if you pick up a jewish bible you'd find 39 divisions rather than 24.. Same as the protestant. e.g. Feldheim is a big highly regarded Orthodox Jewish publisher. But any of them, they split Kings into 1 Kings and 2 Kings. Samuel into 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel. A separate section for each of the 12 minor prophets. I know wikipedia says the jewish bible has 24 books.. but the divisions Jews use nowadays are the same as the divisions christians use.. 39 like the protestant bibles. Granted the order is different. The Septuagint like order is a Jewish ordering too that predates Christianity.

The modesty one is such a tough one. I wish he addressed topless women in native Africa. Should they be called immodest because of our western perception of modesty? I don’t think we should impose our culture on others in the name of the bible which is what happened with missionaries sent to Africa and a lot of indigenous people forced to wear western clothing.
