At 3 minutes in I knew what the problem was. My F6 did the same thing and another ham (a professional tech and another F6 user) suggested where to look and I got it working again. I wonder if this is a common issue.
Hello - can a bad DC plug prevent a handheld from working on both AC plug and DC battery pack? I have an older Radio Shack HTX-204 that will not turn on with battery pack or AC plug. Thank you! (Update...replaced the DC jack and no difference, radio is still "dead".)
Have you been watching EVV I notice you called the new part a "little sucker" LOL on a serious point soldering so close to the SMD components is a brave move but you fixed the problem job well done
+IW2BSF Rudy Hi Rudy, well I don't have it in mind. Please download the service manual and there you find the original spare part number. I have ordered the part via Kenwood spare part distribution. 73
Very nice repair and interesting to watch you work with such small components. If the problem had have been with the battery is there anyway it could be brought back to life without have to buy a replacement.? I am thinking of older handheld radios were buying a replacement battery may not be economically worth while.
technos123 Hi, well to refresh old batteries is nearly impossible. The only advice I have is try opening the batteries housing and swap the old elements to fresh cells. Thanks for feed-back. 73
I wonder if this issue is the use of non Kenwood charger plugs or perhaps stress from the cord when using the rig whilst charging? Anyway great job as usual. More watchmaker work!
4:36 I see that the battery has a hump. It seems to be a little swollen. It is a very bad idea to connect the transceiver to an external power source with a high amperage with its battery assembled. The ideal is to put a piece of electrical tape on the contacts of the battery so that it does not suffer overload.
The TH-F6/7 is small, beauty & nice, but is not a great handie. The device suffers a lot of birdies, false carriers in rx, and is quite deaf in some bands. There are V/U band segments where it lose RX sensitivity. In air band simply does not receive anything. And in HF has poor reception. Many radio amateurs consider the TH-F7 a scam. And I also. It's a expensive AM broadcasting receiver.
