The question is, why don't the British use the Greek name for the other letters of the alphabet, say Alpha for "A", Beta for "B" and so on. Why the silly distinction for "Z"?

Even the two former axis powers, Germany and Japan, are richer. And now India, a former colony like the US, passed the worthless UK. Luckily for the UK, we were able to loan it's poor a$$ money for WWII. Even in the Gulf wars, the UK military acquired the nickname "The Borrowers" because they were never properly equipped with even the basics and came begging for handouts. "Broke A$$ = British". We have been ignoring anything British for a while because they are old, poor and irrelevant as a people and as a military force. Poland and the Scandinavian countries are much more worthwhile.
