for anyone too lazy to watch it all like me 😭 : 1. use lighter paint 2. get rid of furniture u don’t need 3. put up art 4. use low-heighted furniture 5. use small table lamps instead of floor lamps 6. use transparent furniture or light colored furniture 7. remove headboard off bed and put shelves above bed instead 8. use mirrors 9. use foldable furniture 10. use shorter curtains/drapes 11. avoid unnecessary items 12. put curtain pole high above the window 13. light colored bedsheets 14. keep the flow together depending on vertical or horizontal (not sure how to explain, skip to 5:27) 15. keep organized 16. keep the side table, dresser, and bed in the same size scale 17. paint on wall trim should be lighter than the wall 18. visual coherence between the wall rug and other decor 19. transparent furniture again..? 20. try to keep things small and use multi-purpose furniture
Number 9, get a small dining table.😮 wha....it's a bedroom. Why not keep your fridge by the bed (or mattress on the floor) to free up space in your kitchen and make your kitchen look bigger. Or put your cooker in your bedroom to double up as a cupboard when not in use. You could stuff your mattress in it when not cooking.
Like a jewel box. A good designer has way better ideas than "light and bright all the time". Although I like that thought, dark walls recede to our eyes, so it's not always true. Depends on a number of other factors!
We are remodeling,...i picked olive accent wall beige walls and one wall mirrored closets, with with comforter with print,....im scared watching these suggestions 😳
Number 4, keep the mattress on the ground to make room look bigger . Ok then, I will just chuck out my bed frame then my bedroom can look like a squatters room and I can also throw out my quilt and use newspaper as a cover . 🙄
did she just tell me to get rid of my bed and get a foldable mattress to then put in my closet when I'm not sleeping because it'll "create a lot of space when you're not sleeping" because the ceiling will look more spacious..... I'm not interested in ceiling space tho lmao
Wow! I haven't seen acrylic items since I was a newlywed in the mid 70's!! I didn't like the acrylic look then but was gifted an acrylic magazine/newspaper holder and used it for quite awhile. Note: It's a magnet for dog hair.
It was very nice. I like how every space had a place to sit and some kind of table. Loved the shelving around the bed. Looked like a great plan for easy access to clothes
This overlooks that one of the main functions of a bedroom is to provide a place for restful sleep. Light colors and open windows go against that. And good luck not walking into the transparent furniture when the room is dark.
Really? I can’t can’t sleep with the bedroom windows closed, even when it’s below freezing outside. Fresh air and cool temperatures facilitate sleep for most people.
I used to love my black and elephant grey walls cause it was so dark and cozy but I noticed I slept way too long. I'm ready to lighten and brighten my room because now it only makes me feel depressed lol today I'm painting my veil white walls. So excited 😍 thanks for the tips
Many of her tips contradict each other, but nothing like the mountainous wall of a bed with enormous drawers in it. You want slender legs on a bed that works with one mattress and LOTS of open floor space underneath!
But that's perfect! Get lots of storage underneath it, and you may be able to get away with a huge bookcase/other storage systems draining space! My biggest problem is I have this 3x3 metres bookshelf that takes up my entire wall ugh
This was a parody, right? 😂 She can't be serious with this advice lmao 😂 There was way too many impractical and inconsistent advice for this to be completely serious.....right?
Interesting and informative videos with irritatingly wooden narrator, stilted phrasing and somewhat stupid suggestions when the idea speaks for itself.
You want light colors. I have sleep problems. I only use my bedroom to sleep. I have light walls, but an black iron bed. Dark eggplant color curtains for no sunlight, and multiple colors of sheets. But my quilts are all but one in the purple family. I think you must feel calm and be around things that make you comfortable! I'm trying to SLEEP in this room!
My bedroom is like 5x5 the closest is about 1x1 so i most definitely need this and my parents need to watch this. I have bunk beds its kinda fun but cramped a bit but yea
Haha I think these are funny comments. I'm laughing imagining struggling and huffing and puffing trying to squash a mattress into the closet. If you got a small room then chances are that you will have a small closet in it so stuffing mattress into it will be a bit hard to do.
How to make smaller spaces look larger - lite colors, furniture off the floor or on legs so you can visually see the floor, lights on the wall as to not clutter tables, wall hanging side tables/desks/entertainment centers, etc. The french cleat way of hanging furniture on walls leaving floor space open is awesome! I live in a tiny space and have applied all the things I have listed and it makes a world of difference.
What’s with all the shade?? The suggestions are actually very nice and real. Commenting as someone who lives in a small apartment and is doing a makeover after living for 2 years
There are a lot of great tips and great looks here. I love the translucent furniture but what I have found is not in my budget. Could you make a suggestion for an alternative. Is lighter or white furniture the next best option?
Well you see the problem with my room is I got my door on one side of my room a closet on the other side and a huge window on the other side which leads to no room for anything
How are table lamps supposed to save floor space when you have to have a table or something to set it on? And also, having your bed on the floor isn't that great for someone who has chronic back problems and/or Vertigo. Getting up out of the floor is always fun with the room is spinning like you are on a merry-go-round.
The logic is straight forward. A table lamp could 'save' space vs a 'floor lamp & a night table' combo, because the table lamp could be put on top of the night table. * The rooms here cant spin, not enough budget.
I'm seeing a lot of beds in all kinds of videos where the mattress is directly on a platform. I come from the ole "mattress/box springs/metal frame w/rollers" generation - or at least that's pretty much the way all beds I ever had as a child and purchased as an adult were sold. I can't stand the metal frames on which I've bruised my legs multiple times over the years. Some bed manufacturers act like it's treason to buy a box spring. Rethinking this entire set up. Think I'll ditch the frame and see what a box spring w/mattress feels like first.
I ditched my frame a while ago- I feel like just the box spring and mattress makes the room look cuter (?¿) I put my bed in a corner of my room so it's not in the way. I actually like this a lot more than having the frame.
Did you end up just putting the boxspring on the floor? I felt like I could have written your comment and feel the same way about how many times i've bruised myself on it!!
@@JenniferHudy Hi Jennifer! I ended up with a new (to me) bed! My neighbor and good friend moved back to her home state, sold what she could, donated the rest, and only took the clothes and personal possessions she could pack in her jeep. She did the same thing when she moved here; however, she did purchase a new bed so when I heard she was moving, I put "dibs" on it. I now have a queen size bed (the one I had was a twin) that is considered a "hybrid" - box springs and mattress all in one piece that is placed on a metal frame, but not the same type as the old-style frame and nowhere as heavy. This frame can easily be taken apart and its main purpose is likely to just keep the other piece off the floor. The bed is less than a year old and is WONDERFUL! I put my twin bed/box springs/frame up on a national site called Freecycle.com. One can filter for local cities/towns and either place items on it that one wants to give away or place a request for something one needs/wants and someone may have to give away. Within just a few days of placing my ad it was taken by a young woman who wanted it for her 10-year-old son and she was so excited to get it.
