8:14 One thing to note about the parking brake. If you're driving down the street, hitting that button does nothing (car is smart enough to not go into park while you're driving). However, if you hold down that button, the car WILL engage the parking brake which will stop you suddenly. A few years ago I lost my Model S to Sudden Unintended Acceleration and when we bought the X my wife wanted to know how to stop the car in case that ever happened again. That's when we were told about the "hold the park button" feature. We actually tested it in a parking lot (only while creeping forward) before we bought the X.

Yeah, I accidentally stumbled upon this while driving and was imagining that my breaks wouldn't work then it hit me to try park brake, but that did only warning that it is not available while driving. So I hold it a bit and then it started to brake, so I released it and it released itself, so you have to hold it to continuously brake.

Just an FYI; The parking brake is always automatically applied when in Park. The red icon indicator only is shown when placing in park manually, despite always being engaged while in park. This is useful if you want to apply the brake when not in park. This is noted in the manual.

One thing about making changes in the car. Make sure you are in your personal profile mode if you want the changes to be effective each time you drive. I noticed in the video that you were in Easy Entry mode when you were demonstrating certain features. Here are some hidden features I wish were there: 1. Synthetic 'drone view' of the car and its surrounds. Other manufacturers do this with far lesser cameras, so why not Tesla? 2. Forward looking flank view like the reversing camera view, but looking forward. Useful when maneuvering forward in tight spaces like parking or entering garage. 3. Interior view camera viewable from the app. Would be useful if you leave (older) kids or pets in the car. 4. Family keys without the ability to drive the car. Sync the kids phones so they can get in and out and work the entertainment and comfort systems, but cannot drive the car. (OK PIN to drive, but that is a pain for the legit drivers). 5. One-time Scheduled Departure. You can set a scheduled departure time so it tops off the charge and preconditions ready for that time. But you can only set this for every day or every weekday and have to remember to cancel it or it does it again next day. 6. A proper 'blended' driving mode. Like 'Hold' except it uses the friction brake if not enough force is available from regenerative braking. It should have a consistent acceleration/deceleration to peddle position mapping independent of battery charge state or slope of road. 7. Configurable 'distance tolerance' around speed limit changes for warnings. At the moment the limit changes instantaneously as the car passes the sign. Human drivers start to speed up when they see a sign increasing the limit but only start slowing down as they pass the sign reducing it. 8. An accelerator 'dead zone' around the current speed limit. This would be a less intrusive way to alert the driver to speed limit violations rather than a sounder.

Thanks for the info. Two additions/corrections. 1) Holding 2 scroll wheels doesn't reboot the car, it just reboots the screen. To reboot the car, you need to press the brake pedal and hold the scroll wheels at the same time. 2) Holding the parking button does exactly the same thing as tapping it. Holding the button while already in park will just reapply the brakes, hence the sound you hear. The only difference between holding and tapping is that the former puts the parking brake icon on your screen. Weird.

Pull to the left to increase this distance and to the right to reduce it. At higher speeds I found it more comfortable when I set this at the farthest settings and when traffic starts to slow down, I shorten this distance to minimize people cutting me off.

Great video. For emergencies or if the door open button doesn’t work, there’s a manual release to open doors. It’s located on that area forward of the window buttons where it curves downward in a smooth wedge, between the door and the door handle. Place your fingers to grip the wedge and pull up. Door will open. Tesla will display a message saying manually opening doors might confuse or damage window or door sensors so do this only when needed.

It is an emergency door opener only, because it will destroy the rubberseal on the top of the window after a few uses! This is because the window don't go down an inch like it usually does when opening the door with the normal button.

Excellent advice. I have owned a Tesla for 4 years and there were 5 of your items that I did not know. One you did not mention is that you can quickly change the speed by spinning the right wheel up or down. The speed changes to the next even 5 mph. For example a spin down takes 71 to 75 down to 70 mph.

Good video Mike, found a few I didn't know. Question: If you open your app it causes additional battery drain (important if you're on vacation and don't want to come home to a dead battery at the airport). Another thing to add to the rebooting of the screen. You can still drive the car and reboot the screen at the same time! You will not hear things like the turn signals or any other sounds but the car is still working and is able to drive. I believe even things like autopilot will remain engaged as well.

Hi Mike. We just had our Model Y last June 26th. I’m fortunate to watch your video regarding 20 hidden Tesla features. Thank you so much and I learned a lot from them. I have a question. Can you schedule schedule to start charging at a certain battery percentage? For example, when it’s plugged in and it would only start to charge when it’s down to 20%. I appreciate it. Thanks!

Congrats on your new Model Y, and I’m thrilled to hear you found the video on hidden Tesla features helpful! 🎉🚗 Regarding your question about scheduling charging based on battery percentage: as of the last information available to me in January 2022, Tesla does allow scheduled charging but it’s based on time, not battery percentage. Unfortunately, as of now, there isn't a feature that allows the vehicle to automatically begin charging when it hits a certain battery percentage. Once plugged in, the vehicle will charge until it reaches the set charge limit and will maintain that level as long as it’s plugged in.
