Hey Anna I just have to tell you one of the things I think I've always liked about you, or something that has drawn me to you so much, is that you're just so NORMAL and down-to-earth! I mean you really connect with your audience, and especially me, and I see you as someone who I could totally be friends with and I just love that about you! This talk with you and your sister-in-law was so totally enjoyable and refreshing it was just like having girl talk with a couple of friends who you genuinely like and you genuinely want to just hang out with, and coming for me, that's a huge compliment! Though I was always very popular and someone who was friends with everybody in the Universe, I don't do girl dates and things like that. I don't do any of that it's really just about my husband and my 2 grown sons. Me and my husband do everything alone and once in a while with other couples but we're really mostly on our own and you two in this talk made me want to be in a situation where I'd have a couple of friends like you that I could hang out with! Big deal....I assure you! Great video. Happy New Year to you and Erica and your entire family and may God bless you all richly in the new year❤
Wow, Michele, this is such a genuine and sweet comment! Oddly enough, I know what you mean! There are very few women I want to just hang with, it’s so different when you’re adult being friends vs younger years. I too, hang with my husband for the most part and thank the stars his sister and I hit it off like we did. I do think there are more women like us out there, just not sure where to fine them 😄🙌❤️❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29notoriously, I started to comment before I even finished the video and my son came home and started talking to me while I was editing the video to say "PS- I Love the information you guys shared in here....some of the stuff I've done naturally like the one touch rule. I feel like if I don't go put my blazer or my coat back in the closet when I get home from work I'll lose what marbles I have left for that day😂 but also, I was watching Erin Busbee last year when I really started to heavily watch your channel as well, and I was in the process of trying to revamp my wardrobe so I decided to do something that I just figured out on my own would be a good idea and I started hearing a lot about it on different people's videos right when I started and that is to take photographs of the outfits I was creating and save them into a folder on my phone that ai called Lookbook. Erica's idea about labeling them for winter spring summer fall or what have you, is great because I just have them all in one folder and I have about 200 plus of them now, so I'm going to organize them into seasonal folders. Lastly the thing about the mail is CRAZY. I mean seriously, I'm about to put a shredder on the porch by my front door, so right when I bring it out of the mailbox I can just get rid of it!! The mail drives me up the wall over and down and I need to start dealing with it before it even gets into the house!! 😂 Anyway, thanks again for this video and all of them! I truly appreciate the time and care you take in making these. They are wonderfully helpful and so are you! 😘❤
Instead of “following” someone you are never going to meet, go out and participate in activities you love and make a new REAL friend! Social media has destroyed our ability to have relationships
I disagree. I have met several of the influencers that I choose to follow. And have formed wonderful friendships with them. I think we can have both. Lots of us become actual friends to those we follow. And we can still have many other actual friends we're in contact with just as often as we might watch an influencer. Happy New Year and God bless.🎉
@@marycosgrove1587 I think what her point was is to make sure you aren't living in your phone instead of living your life. One day if you're not careful you're going to look up and realize there's a whole wide world out there that you know nothing about . Don't forget to live while you're alive, forming real relationships is a part of that.
If you make your bed in the morning, spread out the duvet and even drape a bedspread over it, you are creating paradisiacal conditions for mites. This is because the tiny animals reproduce particularly well in a damp environment. They can cause house dust allergies and even asthma. Unmade beds are therefore better for our health. This is what British researchers have discovered.
Anna, You’re amazing. I love watching your videos and listening to your life, home and clothing tips. Also, the two of you are so cute together. It’s as if we’re all just sitting in the living room chatting. Love this video. (And all your other ones.) Happy New Year.
Fun video!! Love this! 1. I implemented a No Buy rule for 2024- literally buying nothing I do not need, just replacements for a need, like face oil when I run out.I have all the clothes, shoes, products I need going into 2024. 2023 was step 1 in this process- I only bought things in equity to selling/donating. 2. I move my seasonal clothes. So once the cold weather starts coming, I move my warm weather clothes into another closet & bring out my winter things. Same with shoes . 3. I donated or threw out things I do not love, are worn out, or I don't use. 4. None, or minimal house decor..I hate dusting, my tastes change, etc. My "decor" is my furniture style, the art on my walls, and live plants, a few scattered framed pics of family/friends. That's it.
Same for me! I've been ruthless with my clothing and decor items and have no remorse in decluttering. 2024 will be a no buy year, which is a huge step for me. It really is liberating!
I've been on a journey to simplify my life for over the last two years now. I made some good decisions and definitely some bad decisions. My first mistake was listening to influencers telling me what I "need". I bought way too many items I barely wore and didn't feel right when I did wear them. I've done several closet decanters, but still kept too much stuff. Finally, during Christmas break I was ruthless with my clothes and came to an aha moment. It finally hit me what I like as my daily uniform. Simple T shirt, pants or shorts, and a third layer. (Yes, I kept a few special occasion items for church, funerals, weddings, etc). I evaluated what I have and immediately ordered a few replacement pieces as some were getting worn out). Now that I have a complete and concise wardrobe I'm ready to enter 2024 with no need to purchase anything new. I really want to stick to this. My goal is to remove all unnecessary items from the house. Thanks for your helpful videos. I hate it took 2 years to get here, but better late than never.
This is amazing! I don’t know of literally anyone who got their closet right with no accidents on the first go. It takes time to figure out what is definitely you and what definitely isn’t. 2 years is a small amount of time in the grand scheme, how amazing it is that you can now confidently say “pass” to what doesn’t serve you. I love this! 🙌❤️❤️
Thank you. Let's not get into the habit (addictive and expensive) to keep buying, then purging, then buying some more. At our age we should buy intentionally, know by now what our style is, what suits us and our homes and we should not fall into the trap of following trends like sheep, fast fashion, etc. Or the next time you go on holiday to an exotic (or not so exotic) place you may find the sea, view, etc. ruined by pollution or heaps of "recycled" fast fashion.
Agreed! Except I think a lot of women my age are trying to redefine their style as they don’t like the same clothes they once did. That being said, the goal is to figure it out so you aren’t buying and purging so much for sure! 😄🙌❤️
LOVE THIS VIDEO BRAVO! Very inspiring for everyday realities particularly on society following these influencers lifestyles. Not everyone have companies giving them free stuff to promote or can write off what there promoting on job costs for taxes , I will also start following Erika. This video has already given my day and year a great start👍
The seasonal cold/flu hit me last night (I still made my bed in the morning!). Can't go to the party 😢. 2024 can only improve 😅. Best wishes to everyone
I find for cleaning if anyone's interested, setting a timer and then racing around trying to beat the clock with as much cleaning as you possibly can in 10 20 30 minutes makes a game of it and makes it easier for me.
That is literally my top hack for getting my place cleaned, taxes done, anything I don’t want to do 🙌🙌 set a timer for 10 min and run like crazy doing as much as I can and then quitting at the buzzer lol that’s so funny you do that too! ❤️❤️

Omg, first second of video and I’m thinking “Wow, how did Anna photoshop a model onto her couch and make the couch dip down as if an actual person was sitting on it?” Then the chick moved! 😳🤦♀️😂 It’s too early for a New Year’s drink so I can’t blame it on that. Lol Happy New Year Anna! Wishing you good health, happiness & success in 2024. You’re the best! 🎉
She was on my podcast (linked below) and it was a blast! I would love to have a dedicated podcast with her. We shall see! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2fQLpC3lCn4.htmlsi=qNB1xPr95-rMxTjT
Luv this! I’d say buy secondhand, I’ve gotten so many top brands shirts n quality pieces. That look pretty much new. N more than spending more 4 a brand look 4 better fabric ! When I get a shirt 4 10$ vs 60$ I know I’ll actually wear it n not save it. Lol.
I like how Home Edit showed how to organize your clothes by color it makes it more aesthetically pleasing, and makes it easier for me to choose what I want to wear.
A load of laundry a day keeps the ugly away. Every morning, before work, I put a load on. After my shower I throw it in the dryer and after dinner I fluff and put everything away.🤷♀️
I used to be a little more hesitant to buy pricier knitwear such as cashmere because I would factor in the additional price of dry cleaning, which I thought I would have to do after each time I wore it. I always washed my acrylic/polyester sweaters after each time I wore them because they definitely needed it (the ol’ armpit sniff test 😊) It took years for me to realize that it wasn’t me that was extra stinky, it was the fact that polyester traps odors. It’s like wrapping your arm pits in plastic wrap! Once I started wearing cashmere and cashmere blends with other natural fibers like silk, I realized there were no odors left behind because these natural fibers breathe and don’t trap them in. So now it is actually much easier for me to care for my knitwear; I use a steam cleaner to freshen them up, and spot clean the occasional stain. Some I can hand wash (with soap made for cashmere) and others I may just take in occasionally to the dry cleaners. But I mostly just lightly steam every few wears. I also have a sweater shaver (under ten bucks on Amazon) to get rid of any pilling, which is to be expected with most wools. But that is it. Super easy, and not expensive or time consuming to care for better quality. And these good qualities pieces continue to look and feel great for years!
Ms Anna! You will laugh....a study in an university here mentioned that: you SHOULD OPEN your sheets (leave your bed undone) at least AN HOUR when you get up.... the BEST action against mites and bedbugs!!!! If at home, I do it later or... before going to bed ;) Just sharing a discovery (laughter)....if it works for you!!! :)) Ah! Ah! Ah!....organizing by colours will imply that you have more than ONE item of that colour...😆 When you have a simple life; well, you have only (or often) one item of one colour ;) less...to deal with! 😉 Clothes that do not fit??? ok, GET RID OF them! Voila!! (no more space waisted for....clothes that waist your time) you simply NEVER wear them again! (just a fact) as you are so PROUD and glad to go get something new...that fits! (thrift stores cost less...) You mention...special jewelry; why not doing the same thing with items!?! ...e.g. silverware ! Yes!! I use it `every day ` now; my family is SPECIAL; therefore, they deserve " special " every day as well as a visitor would be (and, I love them more...so....!) ;) Thank you to both of you for this pleasant and lay-back video!! Have a new, better, unique New Year Ms Anna!!! helene :) (sorry for this long note)
First…. Yes! I think in 2024 I need to use my fancy dishes a lot more 🙌🙌 Love that idea! That’s so interesting about the bed sheets! Luckily it takes me a couple hours of coffee and emails in the morning before I make my bed 🤣🤣 I never said I do it first thing! lol Love these comment, Helene! I always love hearing from you! ❤️❤️
I do one load of laundry a day. That’s wash dry and fold/put away. Even for a family of three there’s ALWAYS a load. But it’s only one. Makes my weekend so much more enjoyable ❤
I have a mantra when my brain go back to the past me. I'm not longer that person, I forgive myself for choosing poorly, Truth the years I learned and apply what I learn from my lesson. I love myself.
I don’t have much storage in my kitchen, so I have a cabinet on the porch where all the plastic stuff lives. When it’s full, I know not to be tempted to keep even one more plastic container. I think I’m not organized, but my daughter thinks I’m super organized. I just have too much stuff😳
Dear...Linda, at least you " know " that you have " too much stuff " ; it is such a great step towards....getting rid of unhappiness to let...happy-ness into your life! (we do not realize are suffocating objects are until...we are FREE of them). Bon courage! Be brave and...HAPPY year ahead for you!!! Sincerely, helene :)
Good video! I was not excited about the title, but it turned out being more informative than I expected. I like how you added a professional organizer to the conversation.
Anna, watching your videos and improving my style because of your inspirations is Super Self Care: if you ever happened to be in Brussels I will buy you coffee and show you the pictures before Anna's videos and after lol... Happy New Year! May the New Year bring you so much Joy :)
I love your videos and advice, thank you!! And your little pup? Omgosh, what a little cutie!! I love her/him so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so sweet how you are constantly loving this little pooch the entire time🥰❤🐶🐾!
Laundry. Sigh. With 4 kids - all in sports, a corporate job with travel, laundry has to be efficiently done. Thursday! All laundry has to be downstairs by Thursday night. If it gets down early on Thursday, even better. You can get at least 2 loads done by Friday afternoon -- one Thursday night/dryer Friday morning. The second, wash Friday morning/dryer Friday night. Even with swimming, cheerleading, dance and football, you are not taking up your entire weekend. Ok, those weeks where you have 7-10 loads plus towels and sheets, it will still take you all weekend, but the morning/night routine helps to get things complete while you are attending competitions over the weekend.
Hi Anna Hi Erika! This is my favorite 2024 inspiration video yet. Immediately subscribed to your channel, Erika. You two are have the best chemistry and are a delight to watch. Love you!
When it comes to laundry, I know a family of 6 that does 1 load a day. It works perfectly. It's part of the routine, and they're never overwhelmed. I've implemented this, but for my family, one load every other day is enough.
Great video!! But I must say your dog was so cute “hiding “ next to you 😂😂 love it! He was like , Shhht 🤫 I’m not here, just film your video and let me sit here by your side hahaha
BEST VIDEO EVER!!!! Both you ladies are the bomb!! I took four pages of notes. BTW, and am so glad you finally picked up and rubbed that white fluffy pillow between your legs!!! Bubbie, Lilly Lou Francine, and Willow want to come for a play date!! IMHO, ( and I love your style videos) this is your BEST video of the year!!! Be blessed this new year, and keep up the great content!!
Along with the “get rid of things that don’t fit”, get rid of clothes that do not look good on you even if they do fit. Certain clothes do not look good on different body styles. For me double-breasted, turtlenecks, and anything that closes off my neckline makes me look heavier than I am because I’m busty and short-waisted. I recently went through my closet and tried on every single item. If it made me look top-heavy, it went.
This is a great video! Leaving the past behind me is one of my goals! I tend to let the past hold me back from things that could potentially make me happy. So bringing myself back to the present is a great tip. So 100% yes to this! My other goal was to focus on quality over quantity also. I thrift a majority of my pieces because I find better fabrics and classic pieces that I could wear for a long time. Earlier this year, I invested in what I thought was a nice silky blouse from Zara only to find it falling apart after a few wears. I was sad to have to let it go and disappointed because it wasn't a cheap item. Zara used to be great but the cost of their clothing vs the quality is not worth it. I stopped shopping at most fast fashion stores. Although, I have found that H&M tends to be one of the better ones, at least for basics.
Love this! I’ve found the same with Zara - not good enough quality for the price on a lot of items. H&M still have diamonds in the rough! It’s hit or miss. I guess everywhere is hit or miss nowadays tho! 😄❤️❤️
To the laundry one I would also add that it would save money too. I see a lot of people on my Facebook feed post jokes about forgetting to unload the dryer and just turning it on again to fluff out the wrinkles and then forgetting again and doing that over and over. Well, every time you do that your dryer sucks up electricity. If you empty the dryer when it stops then you’re not constantly turning it on. 🤷🏻♀️
Moved back into my house with sister a roommate and my hubby minimal space I have implemented when I come home hang up coat put purse away empty lunch bag and store remove clothes and hang or put in hamper. I put away clean clothes immediately habits to minimize chaos
Re: self-care, I have always been on a budget and also a little suspicious to beauty therapists, hairdressers, etc. I like to keep it simple, do my own nails, I even cut and dye my own hair. Whenever I've tried even expensive salons, I have found them lacking and they can make you dependent on their services and feel more insecure rather than more confident and beautiful. I get compliments about my hair colour and cut, even when they're not perfect, they are still better than those I got from a very expensive long hair clinic based in one of London's most expensive department stores. I like depending on myself. I also shave my legs, etc. all year long, not just to be ready for summer, I do it for myself, not for a partner or anybody else. My new year resolution is to get dressed every day, it's good for my physical and mental health and people respect you more than when wearing sloppy casual clothes. I've just invested in a great pair of jeans that look good with any sweater/blouse/cardy, etc.
Thanks Anna for this video. I resonate with a lot of the ways listed. I color code my wardrobe, arrange my bags by size, store my toiletries and makeup by type and use. I spend deliberately ensuring that instead of buying many lesser priced items, I choose to buy good quality ones. I review my wardrobe every quarter and curate my shoes too. Life is easier and everything has its place and I am reaching the point of living simply. I am reaching 60 and am really contented with my present situation. My life is full of peace and joy, all glory to God. Praying that you have a blessed 2024❤🎉
Absolutely love this, Julie! It sounds like you have gotten to a place where you can appreciate all your efforts to get where you are and I love it. Happy New Year! ❤️
I can’t make my bed before I leave as I leave before my husband wakes up 😂 Otherwise, yes, quality. Great advice coming right before sale season! Thank you!
Happy New Year, Anna! Thanks for some truly thoughtful and useful advice for 2024 from you and your SIL. I JUST purged & re-organized closet and have decided that COLOR coordinating my items might work better for me, too! For a year in our new FL home, I've organized my new, fresh start closet by "Type" - tank tops, t-shirts, Dressy Tops, etc. and noticed that i just didn't love the visual aestethic. Now, let's see how 2024 works with the color mode. Lol 🙌
I think this has been my favorite of your videos, along with your advice to RU-vidrs on how to get more engagement (that was an older one). Love the topic, love the advice, love y’all’s friendly chemistry.
I agree with buying less. These days you just don't know what's "quality". A 200 buck sweater turns out to be polyester. Another 200 buck cashmere jumper keeps pilling like crazy, who has time to keep up with it. I got several HM black leggings, years and years old, and they're still presentable. So I don't feel the need to buy "quality" aka expensive stuff. I just try to check the material and quality on everything. Even fast fashion, inexpensive stuff, can last for years. And no, not making my bed lol. Different things start the day for different people :) .
❤Anna The hardest working woman that makes it look like no work whatsoever! Not difficult stuff, thank you for your help, you're a good friend I never met. just ready! You're a good woman, Anna. Bless you and your people!✌🏻
Hi Anna, in regard to beating yourself up and reflecting on past mistakes, do this. I forgive myself for (insert imagined problem here) and then let it go! Look in the mirror and say aloud, I am a good person. Here's to a healthy, happy and abundant 2024.
Buy bins that fit 1 load of clothes, 1 for whites, 1 for darks, 1 for dry cleaners. When the bin is full, do that laundry that day. Then it does not become overwhelming & saves on the environment .
Giggled about laundry. Our laundry baskets are not in our room, they are in the laundry room with baskets to sort. My wife does the washing and drying part. I do the fold and iron, I like to iron. And we both put away
A really great video Anna, With regards to morning rush, I used to have to wear a uniform so I got into the habit of getting it ready the night before and when I then changed my job I carried on getting my clothing ready in the evening (usually just before going to bed), I still do this now so I can go to sleep feeling I'm one step ahead, and I feel organised for the new day ahead. 😊
Organizing question. While many important documents are online, many come by mail and need to be organized and ready to go with you in case of an emergency. Hurricane, fire, flood, property taxes, car maintenance paperwork, etc. Suggestions?
I have a smallish fireproof/waterproof safe that has room for 15-20 or so (depending on how full they are) standard hanging folders. In it are documents like birth certificates, original social security cards, marriage certificate, husband's previous divorce decree, wills and other estate planning documents, passports, etc, and lists of information like key contacts (doctors, atty, insurance ...) And whatever else, including my back-up hard drive for my laptop. You might also want to keep a set of copies in the cloud for all those things, so you can get to it (hypothetically) from anywhere you have internet access. It wasn't terribly expensive, maybe $100ish. The main cost is in spending the time to get it done. Good luck.
@@melaniemcneil407 Thank you, I have a similar system but new items tend to stack up on top of it-“I’ll file these later”. Purging/editing is another struggle. My Achilles heel…
The best thing to do is to scan them all into a file in the cloud ❤️ (my dad would say, “well what happens if the cloud falls down” and to that I have no answer but at least you’re not covered in filing cabinets 😄)
