Of course if it was in high school I wouldn't care much since we were mature enough to take it as a joke. Smileygirleva Well, it was years ago and I've gotten over the bullying. But I still think that teacher was incredibly unprofessional. All she really cared about was getting information into our heads and nothing else. If someone couldn't keep up, well... She had kind of a 'If you stay behind you get left behind' idea about school. Kids who had difficulty learning or had difficulty fitting in with the rest were seen as 'troublemakers' and were often scolded instead of given the help they needed. Overall, that teacher and most of the rest of the school just didn't know how to handle kids.

I had a mostly mean teacher that whacked hands with a stick if you fail to answer a math question after three tries in the 4th grade! Besides that a teacher died in between classes in middle school! I was in middle school then.

If only the government would have some sense knocked back into them and say "Well I found out that teachers are yelling more at students because the students tend to behave worse than when the laws were not in effect" and put an end to the so called corporal punishment laws. How is that me deciding who lives and who dies. If the punishment of not pulling your own weight when you are physically and mentally able to do so is that you starve to death, then how am I the bad guy? If the punishment for your 2nd DUI was death, and you drink and drive after your 1st fully knowing and understanding this you deserve what you get. People tend to move toward a reward or away from a punishment. If the punishment isn't severe enough to deter people from committing the crime, increase the punishment. After a certain threshold is crossed I don't believe in rehabilitation. I believe if you can't be decent, then you can fuck off and you certainly shouldn't be breeding. Breeding should be a privledge, not a right or path to a paycheck. Overpopulation is a real thing, why not start the process of reducing that problem by removing those that make everyone else's life miserable? It might not be "nice", but it's logical. Life is real, not fair and not always nice. There are plenty of criminals and sociopaths that would be more than happy to prove that point.

I'll tell you what I believe, you don't get to tell me what I believe. Black and white is it? I want a police state and you want hippy freedom? No. I want a free society with harsh penalties for taking actions that infringe on other people's freedoms or otherwise harm other people whether those actions are intentional or out of ignorance. Nothing I have said correlates in any way with my being a proponent of a police state. Even a free society needs rules. Probably not thousands of incomprehensible laws like we have, maybe 100 or less laws varying by state for varieties sake. 15+ billion you say? The way we build sprawling cities? You're dreaming. Maybe if we used free energy sources, restored the sprawl back to nature in favor of large vertical arcologolies, replaced highways and interstates with aerial and mass transit rail systems for long distance we could potentially sustain that population. Without that step, we're overpopulated. Look how inefficient we are now, do you really think doubling our population would be sustainable? I don't.

There's only so much that the teachers are allowed to do now, and when it got really bad or happened outside of the classroom, I'd have to go to the school councilor, principal, or vice principal. The school I went to had their favorites, which were usually the ball players, cheerleaders, or kids of staff members, so they'd take their word over anyone else's. This one time, a girl who had been bullying me all year long comes up and starts her crap one day while I was standing in the gym with my friends. I just ignore her and keep turning away because I wasn't in the mood to deal with her that day and she starts kicking me in the shin. I let it go on for a minute until she kicked me really hard and I looked at her and said, "You need to get the fuck away from me. I've dealt with your shit all year long and I'm done. If you kick me again, I'm going to beat your head against the wall and see if I can find a fucking brain in there. Do I make myself clear?" She acted like she was going to walk away and then kicks me again...it took four people to hold me back because they knew I was dead serious about bashing her skull against the wall. I'm not normally a violent person, but I can only take so much from someone before I snap. Keep in mind that this was in March, and she'd started doing this about halfway through the previous school year, so I was just fed up with her. Of course, we got sent to the vice principal's office and he asked what happened. I told him, as did two of the people I was standing with when it started. I'd reported her to him, the school councilor, and the principal; none of them did a thing except tell me that it was my fault for the clothes I wore, not being a twig, or whatever else it was that she was bothering me about at the time. Two of the other kids had been sent, too, and he just sent them back to class because he knew they were my friends. He asked if anyone other than my friends saw the whole thing and we said "no", so he asked her what happened first. She said that I just snapped and started threatening her, but I told him the truth. I told him what I said to her and all he said was that I should have reported it. I told him I had reported it and nothing had been done in a year and a half that I'd been dealing with this; he basically said "that's not my problem" and suspended us both. It's supposed to be an equal amount of days for both people involved, but she only got one day and I wound up with three.

Jay Comix I'm a high school teacher myself. A teacher shouldn't be mean to his/her students, there are alternatives to deal with even the most troublesome of youngsters. First, how can you gain respect if you don't know how to convey it? These people are adults and educators! Sure, we have authority in the classroom, but we aren't freaking autocrats. Here in Sweden that behavior (hitting a child, putting tape on their mouth, making them unclog a urinal) would get you fired right away and that's perfect IMO, teachers should set a good example, at the vey least during working hours. You don't need to go as far as ruining someone's life...

Maria Mort I agree, most of these were completely unacceptable. however, I've seen first hand that kids can completely exaggerate and make a big deal out of nothing. for example putting tape over someones mouth, what probably happened was the kid would not stop talking so the teacher (possibly in a joking manner) put a piece of scotch tape over the kids mouth. I don't know what actually happened because i wasn't there so i don't really have an opinion, but based on experience, the kid probably made a big fussy deal about nothing. almost all of these i am fine with but the one that bugged me was the sub telling the kids Santa isn't real. she lost her job and may not even be able to get a new one. i feel like that's completely unnecessary.

***** If that had happened a few years prior, I would have probably killed someone. I had a history of responding to being attacked with extreme force. However, I learned the hard way that even if someone attacks you, public schools say violence is not an acceptable response. I had been suspended, with recommendations for expulsion, several times because I defended myself against an attacker. The school's policy was simple; you're in a fight, you're in trouble, no matter what the circumstances. So I had learned to control my anger and restrain myself. I remember thinking "screw that; someone tried to strangle me." The only way I kept my cool was thinking "If I fight back, the teacher can turn this back on me. All I need to due is keep from getting hurt, and then I can go report the teacher and get this bitch fired." Little did that naive young version of me realize that the teacher would suffer absolutely zero consequence.

+MAX VMMMCXV My uncle told me that he slew the Santa's reindeers because he found a secret recipe for a stew from a Mayan temple that included Santa's raindeer meat as one of the ingredients. He said that the stew ended up tasting like it was hundreds of years old. Police is yet to find evidence of the supposed animal abuse, but the lack of confirmed Santa Claus appearances do point to my uncle's statement being true.
