As someone who just started, what markers should I use to colour in a blackbook?

First thing to say is good markers are expensive. If you have the money, a set of Stylefile markers or Copics are amazing. If you want to go cheaper then Pro markers are really good too. You can even go cheaper if you go off brand and hunt on Amazon. Use alcohol markers though because they're the only markers that blend.

@@jujuking6079 A lot of blackbooks don't contain decent paper. I use Daler Rowney 220gsm smooth heavyweight pads nowadays because the paper quality is so good

It took me a long time to get good- probably about 10-15 years to get really good. Time is on your side as long as you just keep doing it as much as you can. You'll get better and better.

A lot of the `LA` looking styles remind me a lot of Rough - he did many walls with a similar style back then and haha I saw the mans page there. Man its easy to see the roots in your work here - obviously more developed but the early signs of what we see today are there - that's pedigree for real

I was very influenced by Rough and Skore they were so prolific back then and always pushing the game forwards. I've got a few books of Remi's and he's given me a few original blackbook pieces over the years. He's still killing it with his abstracts.

@@CUTEMKUltras For sure man, they killed the 90s no doubt, I didn`t meet rough but I hit some steel with one of the VOP/Iconoclast heads which was cool. Score for me back then was the leader of the pack with Fire around the same weight. I hit a wall in Shanghai with Score, Fluke, Dezio and a few others a few years back. You're lucky to get the originals man hold onto it like its gold

@@BornWriter Loved the work that VOP did back then. Don't know what happened to Stylo, he was a bit of an innovator too. I'm going to do a flip of some of my art collection soon, there's some gems in there mate.

The piece at 12:30 was red/orange/yellow fill w/ bright green outline but you crapped on the green outline (which I think gave a nice pop to it actually) but then the piece at 13:20 also had red/yellow/orange fill and almost, if not the same green outline but you liked that piece...its weird how we critique ourselves hey? I'm the same as you, been messing with graff off and on since '95 but I still have nowhere near the skill as most of the people who've been doing it constanty for just a few years. But I sadly was born lacking any artistic talent be it art or playing an instrument yet I am tortured by the fact that have massive creativity in my head for music and graff but bringin it to fruition always comes up short. But its still fun and thats what really matters in the end, doing it cuz it makes you happy.

It's funny looking back at them pieces because I still feel the same about them. In the eye of the beholder I guess. Personally I think I had only a handful of talent but I was determined to become a good artist. I have friends around the world who are world class artists and I find it hard that I'll never match them. Even if I practiced for the rest of my life (which is what I'm doing) I can't get near some of those guys.
