Thanks for sharing and I couldn't agree more about longing for a return to shells that resemble actual touring cars. Miss the days of the Stratus, Mazda 6 and Alfa Romeo.
That was a really interesting video, I do actually remember most of those shells, I think I had a few of them myself. I agree with you, I'd like to see a return to more realistic looking bodyshells, I actually run a frontie now and I like the bodyshells, they at least look a fair bit like their real world counterparts. Awesome stuff!!
Oh! The bodies I used and raced where from the 90s but got into the top ten of my Australian state titles using the Alfa, in bright red of course :) Looked at starting again and bought a couple of cars in Jan 2020 and they are still in the boxes.. Quite shocked at first but now I like most aspects of modern TC racing. So what do you consider the bodies are? RC car bodies or Model car bodies. I prefer to give RC it's own life and designs and not copy a 1:1 comparison. Same for all RC genres. So is an IFMAR "Model Race" the top level or an IFMAR "fully custom developed for RC car Race" the top level... Either way, too small for me to see the differences now. : )
Modern bodies look awful and are contributing to the class beginning to die out, the cars are simply too fast for many average racers to handle now. Bodies pushing the performance envelope make the cars edgy to drive and chassis development mean a small performance window to operate in.
They tried the "realistic" bodies with USGT but, once again, racers and manufacturers skirted the spirit of the class and started the nonsense with the bodies.
