John, I hope you know, you have me hooked on spongy grips (I bring my own to the gym)!! As soon as I break them out the guys at the gym say, "You must be a Mountaindog disciple!" Between those and "Meadows Rows, I'm proud to say I am!!! Thanks for all you do.
Excellent John!, really love your work outs, especially the 200 reps series. Most down to earth person on RU-vid. Thank you kindly mate , from the UK!!
Hey John I have an interesting suggestion for this kind of videos. When you do a high rep challenge it would be so cool if you could tells us how you felt the next morning, and if your body aches for a while, and how long it took you to recover. I would find this information in your videos ever so educational. Thanks brother (from the UK).
This is a killer awesome combo of back movements, finished off w/ those deficit deadlifts! Form is so key with each of these, & appreciate your focus on that. 💪
Just pulled up to gym to finish week out with back workout and this popped up!! Sitting in car to watch it before I go in to start this👍🏻 Thankyou again John!!!
I follow a number of channels, John, but your training advice and demonstrations really excel. To be sure, some of it is confirmation bias...I have been lifting for years, but your experience and explanations are always of such incredible value. Keep up the great work. :)
Did this this morning 4 Feb 2021 man is my back feeling it now John your workouts are brilliant maby give this one a try again in a couple of weeks I usually only do about 8 to 10 reps so doing 25 was burning
These are cool workouts I def will try, always fun to mix up your workouts and exercises, learned so much watching your vids I wish I knew when I was younger
John, I really appreciate you sharing different training ides as well as the thought behind how and why to do these. Very helpful to us novices. Thanks.
Hey John, I will definitely try this workout this weakened! Even though I workout at home, I have all the equipment including the spongy grips. Man I am so glad you turned me on to these spongy grips, I absolutely love them and they are my favorite attachment!
This will be good for the "crazy" week I install between changing up my 6-8 week training sessions! You are definitely right about working through the burn. At my age it's a thin line between working through the burn and injury. Or I can get too sore to train again on time which is a small set back. Thanks John! Enjoy your weekend! 🇺🇸💪
A Spud Inc long ab strap works great for straight arm pull downs too. You can flatten your hands on the strap loops or push your hands through the loops and wrap them sort of around your wrist . It really lets you relax your grip and pull from your elbows. Works amazing doing any type of cable row and face pulls . I use them for pushdowns and overhead tricep extensions too. It’s literally one of the best accessories I’ve ever purchased.
Just finished doing this 200 rep back workout thought I was gonna puke by the time I got to dead lifts with shrugs. .. my back hasn't felt this pumped this good for too many months ... nice one bro
I keep waiting to see John's 'sidekick' in the beanie to get swoll the heck up. I mean, he's always working out with John doing these brutal workouts for the last year plus. I mean, I'm just picking and choosing stuff and I do have a 'Lil John' sitting on my shoulder yelling "two more" and I'm making some good gains.
Cool! Thanks for the video! My training partner and I have been putting in similar runs like this once in a while for bench press, rows and leg presses and occasionally arms, sometimes as a kind of finisher to a normal pyramid routine (then obviously not with the same rep range as presented here, where the extreme range is the main point) to a dedicated rep range & failure, or like here with very high rep range (to failure) as the main point. I agree, it's brutal, but in a different way from 3-5 rep maxes on heavy weight and a good way to switch it up and really boost that mind-muscle connection, going beyond (failure) and through (failure) hypertrophy to endurance. Much appreciated, John, please keep them tips and examples coming!
John I do something similar for Contest training. I use to do supersets 20x20 but my last contest I moved to straight sets of 40 it was lighter believe me but it’s definitely going to develop serious shape. I’d never do sets of more than 20 for squats though. But definitely a nice change from straight heavy. It’s definitely something you have to change your mindset for. I always love your videos keep putting out the content. As you said time it strategically.
Like the video. If you were doing a back workout following the ALPS principal, could you do these for the pump aspect of the workout or would that be too much?
Hey John hope all is well my man if you wouldn't mind at some point in the future any chance you could make a video explaining the different phases you go through in training how you would go through a fake clients week one to week 12 or more and how you'd integrate more volume and intensity techniques where you would or wouldn't add this that and the other for someone with examples of when recovery is good and not good etc I love the content you put out already but I and maybe most people get confused as to where in a training program you'd put different things I think that would be really valuable information thanks a lot of you see this and keep being a boss 💪💪
To add on from that obviously not every client is the same and they all have different needs but if you were to condense it all into a 12-16 week time frame or something like that
Yea.. I think I'm about ready to give in on this strap deal. My forearm extensors gave out long, long before my back. Sigh. They always do. I did those partial pull downs though up front. They are fun. Minus the fact that I keep hitting myself in the head :)
So of course there's some warmup before starting this routine. What would the recommended rest periods be between the sets of 25 and also rest time when moving to the next exercise?
I need a lil change-up.... gonna do this tonight. Thx, John🤘 *Update: Holy $hit... just finished.... those deficit deads were Bruuu-tal!!😝. Wow that was awesome!!💪
I love the straight arm lat pull down, but my triceps tend to get involved towards the end and its so frustrating. Just have to keep working the movement I guess.
Some people get fixated on hypertrophy and overlook the benefits of really working the movement. Personally, I didnt grow back until i started working a lot of reps to really figure out how to focus the back fibres to work vs using arms
You keep posting these videos but in England nobody can train in gyms because of a stupid lockdown, I've no home equipment and can't afford the prices at lockdown..must be such a good feeling where you are
