John, i can attest that leg curls DO make squat feel better. no doubt it is magical. but, from a powerlifters perspective, how would you program a SQUAT workout, while still paying mind to work hamstrings first for knee health/muscular health? powerlifters main goal is lift more in the squat. not the same as a bodbuilder who just wants to grow muscle. a powerlifter wont sacrifice lbs from the bar for a leg curl movement prior.... any ideas?

Effort is binary. I am either off or on. Lol, jk. I had prepared for an apocalyptic event so I already had gymnastic rings, light adjustable DB, and bands laying around. I have no reason to go back to the gym. I might get a clipping card so I don't have to subscribe, but I can go whenever I feel like it. I want to keep doing snatch grip block pulls, but I don't really care about anything else. I'll save so much money that by the time I need more weights it will have paid for itself.
@aestheticshardstyle8927
@aestheticshardstyle8927 4 года назад
Alexander deChaneet try buying your gym equipment instead of renting and you wont have to miss workouts because someone decides to make a virus when we supposed to be curing viruses. I an adjustable bench for under $150, and a pulldown machine for about $160. The bench also has preacher bench thats removable with it. Weight added dumbells for $50 a pair so i can add weight and make them whatever weight i want. I can workout when i want and dont miss workouts because of idiots. Stay shredded brah and you control your workout by buying instead of letting others control it by renting...
@AageKush
@AageKush 4 года назад
@@aestheticshardstyle8927 I'm not going back to the gym, and my setup doesn't cost a thing. Less than $100. As long as you have somewhere to hang your rings you can do pulls and abs. Push ups, pike push ups, dips etc. can be done with or without resistance. Legs can be trained unilaterally if you don't have any real weight to load with. Your exercise selection will be better as well, since you don't rely on machines at all(they are great for fluff and pump, but I mostly use them when I am too tired to do free weights or calisthenics).
@alexanderdechaneet4001
@alexanderdechaneet4001 4 года назад

Fantastic content, and really informative. After training for 30 years I would like to add another one, and that is "mind to ,muscle connection" during your workout. It really ties a number of the reasons together: - being slightly crazy, embracing the pain, controlling the tempo, full range of motion. The truth is you have to love training legs, embrace the hard work and pain, and not just train in a manner to get the workout or reps finnished. Really informative channel with some great advice!

The best video I've seen on how to build your legs. Thank you! And I'm glad you talked about the knee wraps. They do lessen the stress on the muscle.

Was just listening to the video while playing with my daughter and heard "something something in the squat rack" and came running to see what new workout I was gonna learn 😂

I’ve been doing leg exercises twice a week without the use of gym equipment and my legs have gotten smaller not because I think they look smaller but a lot of the jeans my quads never fit into fit fine now and are a little loose.

Love your common sense -down to earth describing of your craft. I find it calming & energizing. No gadgets, gizmos & yelling... just good old fashioned this is how it is💪😀💪

I was seeing your number 11: exercise Sequence. I have to do deadlifts and certain exercises last in my muscle group because of back pumps that I get, which will affect and weaken every exercise after that one, so i save those for last.

I'm the same. I read about taking taurine to help with back pumps

On laying ham curls, I like to relax my toes and really feel it in my hamstring. Once I can't do anymore, I flex my toes and finish them off.

How good are these. John you are a legend forever. Thanks to you and your family for putting this up. I've never heard of most of these tips. Very interesting and helpful. I'm reping it out right now while watching. My hams are on fire.

After watching a few of John Meadows’ videos and his training styles I saw so many methods and styles that Tom Platz has used over the years... lol sure enough, John mentioned Tom Platz’s training style for hamstrings 😂 Tom Platz was and is so inspiring to many! His training went so far beyond the pain barrier threshold lol “1 rep 2 rep 3 rep 4 rep 5 MORE REPS!!!!” It is also inspiring seeing others like John Meadows use Tom’s training methods and seeing the awesome results from training that way. God bless you John Meadows! I recently saw my first video of you and Jay Cutler training together and you showing him your style of dips. I am a diehard Jay Cutler fan! Been following you ever since I saw your first video! Thank you for the always awesome content and your wisdom 🙌

Such solid freak'n tips! Totally agree about squat depth blasting my adductors. First time I've heard the term turnip thighs. I think I'm guilty as charged. I thought it was genetic, but clearly I need to step up my game. Amen to unilateral exercises. LOVED the conversation about working through the pain. Cheers to getting mentally unstable lmao. This was so awesome. Thanks for sharing.

He's right about needing higher reps because the lower body has lots of slow twitch fibers compared to the upper body
