Funny thing: when I was taking Spanish, I learned that since the US is technically the largest Spanish-speaking nation we got to learn American Spanish, Spanglish foreveeeer.
@@1023cincy oh sure, it was empty that's why California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and Texas have a lot of cities, towns and regions with Hispanic names. There were people there, and not only Mexicans but native Americans too. The empty SW is a lie, you just said that to ignore the genocide of the native Americans and the displacement of the Mexicans that lived there.
Why would they left if it was were they have born and lived all their life? First New Spain, then independent México and Spanish was the language spoken just like the name of all those states and cities.
You can clearly see the effect of the wars here , Russia in 1917 (after the russian revolution), Germany in 1946 (after world war 2) and Vietnam in the 70’s (During the Vietnam war)
The effect of Russian 1917 revolution is actually in the other sense, you can see the immigration numbers starts to fall right after. What happened was that there was a huge surge of Russian nationalism and, consequently, antisemitism in the end of the 19th century with paramilitaries like Cossacks and 'black hundreds' staging pogroms. So beginning from 1890's you can see numbers from Russia rapidly grow, the immigrants being mostly jewish. The wars (1st WW and Russian civil war) slowed down the process and once Soviets firmly got hold of the borders by the mid-20's the emigration was forcefully halted.
Also right after the civil war, there was a push to take over the "frontier", during the timeframe where they were advertising free - cheap land to Europeans.
@ iits just that its so funny to hear them argue lol its like watching telenovela when they speak their language and argue in real life lol...thats why when i learn it i will speak their language Everytime i argue ...lol
Hell yeah, my ancestors were here before Spanish, Europeans. My father’s grandpa born in Texas when was part of Mexico. 🤓🤓🤓but I have to recognize the contributions of all those people did to make this country better.
mexico didnt even exist at that time dumb there were tribes like aztecs, mayas etc but not mexicans mexicans its a nationality a country has nathing to do with race or etnicity ignorant
@A Beautiful 2014 Toyota Corolla If an American says they are Irish, people say they are wrong and should call themselves Americans. How is that not caring about family?
That’s when the Mexican miracle vanished just around the time I was born. Before that Mexico was doing pretty well if it wasn’t because some affluent families decided to keep it all for themselves and labour unions became the biggest mafia there is. Politicians and Drug lords started to make it big at expense of all of us Mexicans.
Actually, they elected a Socialist in 86’ and people dipped. Back then, 1 US Dollar was 3 Mexican Pesos. Now it’s like 230 Pesos to 1 dollar. Some strange disparity like that. The Socialist ruined the economy, ruined the Central Bank of Mexico to bail out criminals creating a rise in Drug Cartels. The government just barely saved their constitution and when he lost re-election in 92 or 94, the next guy became the greatest Mexican President Ever! He was assassinated 7 Days into his Presidency by a Cartel Member. The Cartel has ran the Country ever since.
@@m.c.martin Nope. Wrong almost in everything. In 1986 there were no elections. The last socialist who ruled México was López Portillo from 1976 until 1982. I that period the peso lost a Lot of value because the fall off the oil prices. In 1982 Miguel de La Madrid was elected and he was president until 1988, with his goverment México started a period where the rulers were a little less politicians and more tecnical, a little more liberal (in economics terms) and pragmatic. The country still was in crisis, but in this period started a slow recovery and a political change that taked 20 years. In this period the rise of the drug lords started too. The mexican "exodus" to US in the 80's was caused by the economic crisis made by the populist socialists goverments in the 70's. The "exodus" continued in the 90's because the violence caused by the organized crime raised in the 80's, the unenployment in rural areas (a side effect result from NAFTA), and because the mexicans who migrated in the 80's, started taking their families with them to live in the US.
Aiui the Canadian economy was screwed in the early 1900s. We think of Canada as being in the same forever stable club as US/UK/France/Australia/wherever but it was actually really up and down until 1950s+
@@labestiapolitica3438 we bought the land after the war not a fair deal but still the same price as the purchase from france. So no it isn't your land as it was sold even if it wasn't fair. To be honest if mexico want to take it back with force they would lose so fast that I wouldn't be done taking a bath. Under 6 minutes for mexico city to be flatten.
@@wheneggsdrop1701 hahaha 6 minutes. Well you did buy it after invading I guess that's how America does business. However Texas is not yours :) nor did you buy it nor did you have claim to it even after annexing it because under the law Tejas was still Mexico.
@@labestiapolitica3438 Well do you remember how the U.S does things NO REFUND OR THEY BREAK YOUR LEGS. Also, Texas won the Texas-Mexican War and the treaty said that they got what they claim since Mexico had a bruh moment and the leader got captured. Also, Texas can break Mexico's leg if they tried hard enough let alone the nuclear weapons stored there. Also, 6 minutes for the ICBMs to reach Mexico City and you know.
settlers settled on Texas and then they claimed it because Texas wanted to be with the us and the rest with Oklahoma was being fought for and then the Americans bought California. New Mexico and Arizona with all the other land was fought for to. And the Americans bought a tiny piece of land below New Mexico.
@@granda2126 I didn't say I have a problem with immigrants. I was being "ironic" at the fact that we get shut talked the most and yet we have the highest immigration in the world. How do more people want to move here than any where else in the world yet we are the most hated. Doesn't make sense.
@@armaesor2501 oh ok but yet out of 170+ countries you know exactly what country I am referring to. Also you are wrong do a Google search. "The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S. or US) or America, is a country comprising 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions."
Actually there is less Mexicans coming into the US then their was 10-20 years ago, a lot of them have also gone back. South and Central Americans are the ones flooding in the border according to statistics.
Indians only started immigrating to the US from the beginning of the internet age and majority of them being students who wanted to pursue Masters given the quality of education US provides. But even today, Indians are at 5th position in the population list. So please don't hate us. Give us an opportunity to grow along with you.
Mostly by ship. Either through New Orleans or New York City. New Orleans isn’t a huge city these days, but it was the second largest city in the US back in the 1840s because of its port.

People don't even point out how Mexican Immigrants have been declining since the early 2000s, but these are Internet Americans, I don't think I should be expecting much brain power usage.
Fucking fascinating, we each have our own story, I'm Mexican and my friend once told me that his grandpa came over on a makeshift raft from Cuba, I looked at him and said "I guess we ain't so different huh?", I love hearing everyone's stories of how they ended up here please share
Read the book slaves in bondage coming from England they were mostly Irish. The Irish childern was kidnapped and brought over by kidnappers, and England had to check every ship that left that's how bad it was.
There was vastly more immigration from the uk than from Germany or any other country. Its just that most people descended from British immigrants identify as having American ancestry.
My parents came to the states in the 70s. They became US citizens in 86 with the amnesty. I was born in 86. My 10 siblings were born down the road. I'm 34 now and I'm a proud Mexican American living in Texas.
Where are you getting this information? Net immigration from Mexico has been negative since the 2008 financial crisis. Since 2008 there have been more people returning to Mexico than coming from Mexico.
Don’t believe the official numbers, I know a lot of Mexicans crossing undocumented. There are no census when they jumó over a fence or under tunnels. The number is actually way higher.
A huge no of Americans must have Canadian ancestry as Canada almost alone always appears among the top countries throughout the history shown here Of course USA and Canada - despite all Canadian objections to the contrary - are pretty much the same people within one generation
Quite many errors! In 1887 it shows 5523 migrants from Poland and 21873 from russia. But in 1887 Poland actually was a part of russian impire as well as Finland. Between 1922 and 1991 there was no such county as russia but soviet union who was including russia as a federative republic and 14 other republics who in 1991 become independent countries. But I am pretty sure you counted them as russians...
A large majority of new immigrants today come from secondary waves of family-sponsorship. Immigrants who came in the first wave from employment sponsorship, lottery, or asylum seekers - get USA citizenship are allowed to apply/pay for sponsorship of family like the grandparents, brothers/sister and their family over the many years until the no longer have family. Once the secondary waves get citizenship, then they can sponsor their families on the 3rd wave. all other waves. This is often popular with Mexican, Philippine, Indian and other countries. Countries that are generally richer like in western Europe dont leave in large numbers (though some like the opportunity of a big country like USA ) will also have less secondary and other immigration waves.
makthemax yes, Actually investment is more effective in setting the agenda of policies in favour of the country giving the investment. It has not worked 100% to set US policies in favour of China eg. US cribbing about Huawei etc but US resistance to Chinese trade practices or human right abuses etc has been now overlooked and US has become much less critical and muscular towards China. There is a lobby in favour of China in wall Street etc and that has forced US to compromise in getting trade deal done. In less muscular inimical countries like Vietnam or Australia, their resistance to China is completely neutralised by investments .
