The basic steps to replace your front struts in a 2nd generation Toyota Avalon. This also applies to most front wheel drive Toyota vehicles such as the Camry, Solara, ES300 series and various other models.

I have a second generation with only 115000 miles. 2. because of all the speed bumps in the area, I recently had an outer tie rod, right front axle, lower control arms and the three motor mounts replaced. I went to my reliable garage for good reason. 5 minutes into the motor mounts and a section had to be sent to machine shop. You never know what will go wrong. And, when you don't have a spare car or driver, leave the major repairs to the professional like you. 3. I had replaced the struts years ago. My kid is more handy than I. He replaced the struts on his second generation Avalon himself. I think only the front struts will need replacement and now I know what to look for.
Sorry, mine were broken at the bottom, just grabbed it with a vice grip and spun it out with a wrench. The top was still connected to the strut tower and it got tossed with it. Didn't mean to leave it out.
